Being from America, when I first heard it, I had no idea what aboes were. I figured they were some kind of Australian animal, the way the lyrics spoke of letting them go loose (as if they were kept in a pin or something), and being of no further use. As a matter of fact, I didn't know what a digeridoo was, either...Did I spell that right? I learned later on what these things were.
