Wrap the hair around the straightener and pull. That will curl it all including the ends! Like curling ribbon with a scissors! I'm a hairdresser x

Yes,that's what I do. Funny I should see this video now. After about a month or so of using my new flat iron for exactly that style, I decided to blow dry it straight today and it looked great. Nice to have options except I think I've now inadvertently trained my hair to go wavy instead of naturally curly. It doesn't retain the natural curl after washing any more. Anyone else have this problem after using a styling tool frequently?

Monique you need a round curling iron to get full volume and rounded ends. Flat curling irons leave scraggly ends.

I find that if you clamp down the flat iron at the base of the hair, then turn it a bit against the hair, then simply pull it through to the ends instead of curling it up, it actually makes much more uniform waves (also, looks better not tossled(sp?)). On the other hand, you would look gorgeous no matter! I am so jealous at how fast your hair takes a curl!

I love your videos. They're detailed information with a twist of fun. I have almost completely straight hair and lots of it, even tough it's not fine or thick. It's tough to curl so I opt for straight iron to add shine. However, I've used it to add a little curl using it to pull on the hair from the crown, and then curling as I get to the end of the hair. Works great but in Florida's humidity, nothing stays for long on healthy hair. Great watching you do your magic.

I love this style on you! Yes I have used a straightener to curl my hair but every type a curl falls out in 5 minutes then with a little humidity turns into a frizzy mess.

Fun video! I tried using a flat iron to straighten my hair and it burnt my silver into an orange color. You must be able to use really low heat to keep from damaging the fragile texture of your silver hair.

Looking good! My hair is of very similar texture to yours and I have the same issues with one side being easier to work with than the other and then guessing about the back. That technique just doesn't work for me but happy that you had success! My hair is somewhat longer, so I just ended up having a bunch of layers cut into it and using my 20-year-old hot rollers for a completely different look. I like the beachy waves look but it's not in the cards for me. Love you! Hope your date went well!

Beachy Waves, love it! You know you are doing something right when your Grey Silver White Puter whatever you want to call it, Your Grey hair Shines. You put that little bit in the front in a clip and I said Dang Her hair is Strobing tonight. My grey hair shines also but my grey hair is so harsh so I color it. It's starting to turn whiter so when it gets the way I want it I might go all grey :-)

I use the straight iron all the time to curl, u just put it in wrap and pull all the way to end. Watch carli bibles kinda recent video of curling her hair. She has hair to rear end and it curls great. Looks great Monique! ♡♡♡

Interesting experiment. You're fortunate that your hair holds a curl so easily. My naturally curly hair uses a real curling iron and then I pin it up in pin curls for a couple of hours, time permitting, to set the curls in. I use Paul Mitchell Freeze and Shine Super Spray. I tried Elnet, but the fragrance gave me allergies from hell!! Had to take it back. Enjoyed the video!

I have one of those flat irons with extendable "wings" made exactly for this purpose. My fave softer hold hairspray is Tresseme Tres Two Ultra Fine Mist in the big black can. I had a hairdresser who used something very similar that I loved, but it was god-awful expensive. I found the Tresseme and can't find anything I like better and it's dirt cheap!

I have never curled my hair with a curling iron or a flat iron. I once had a perm put in my hair ( it was really -really long then ) and one side turn out beautiful and the other side turned out flat , and no matter how many times I went back to the hair dresser it stayed flat , so I finally gave up. yours turned out wonderful.

LOVE how this turned out! I curl my hair with a flat iron ALL d time. for added volume I curl alternating directions and I use BEACH BABE spray. I noticed u struggled a little bit. Try twist and glide vs trying to curl around the flat iron and u will get much rounder and bouncy curls. You look BEAUTIFUL! ❤

turned out great! I can't work with a curling iron. I just use hot rollers. I like the effect it gives but I am not as smooth so it won' burn my hair. My fave hair spray is Shaper Plus by Sebastian.

I'm a hairstylist so I would like to give you advice to make flat iron curls easier for you. You do not need to keep twisting the iron. If you just do one turn/flick of your wrist and slide the iron down it will be much easier. Hope that helps.

I am the same age as you and have the same texture of hair too! My hair is very fine, wavy and unruly. If I let it airdry, I have no idea what the hell I'm gonna wind up with and it's usually way too wild for public! I love using a flat iron to curl my hair (mainly because it heats up so fast, lol) I start about 2 inches from the root and like to alternate toward my face and away from my face. My current favorite hairspray (yes, I had a coupon, ha!) is Pantene Volume high lifting hairspray. It doesn't weight my hair down and is brushable but holds that shit in place!

I have never used a flat iron before but now it looks like I need to buy one. I have a love hate relationship with hairspray. I hate how they feel and smell but love having my style locked in because if I don't use a hairspray my hair is flat by time I get to the car.

Monique, have you ever tried Aerogel hair spray by tri. Out here in West Texas where the wind is terribly strong, this product is a life saver. I call it the concrete hair spray. The product is so nice, it feels light on the hair, like air!

I also use a flat iron because a really good wiggly one cost to much.. My fav hair spray for a extra extra hold is Paul Mitchell Freeze & Shine.. It can be Sticky & a little hard to comb thru. But your hair will not move😎

Another Freeze & Shine fan here 🙋 Discovered the product back when the poofed bump was in style. I have fine & slippery hair, so to achieve the required volume up top, I had to tease my hair and then use F&S to set it. This was the only way I could pull off the look. I use the Sally's generic line dup version.

never seen you do so many sections, Monique. Ends not responding because need trimming maybe. Like the length a lot. Has more movement and very seventies chic. A good quality perm would be great and could add more thickness to fine locks. Worth considering if condition is good!
