i literally said out loud "màu hồng" at 1:09 xD i was born in Vietnam, and i study English. i was so focused on English that i forgot my Vietnamese. So i decided to learn Vietnamese from TVO. You should watch the VTV channel. It is the most popular channel for Vietnamese. They speak quite clearly.

Being able to use the same word for green and blue is similar to that in Japanese, although there are different words if you need to be more specific.

Is "màu" a classifier term for colors(?). At 3:52 you apparently were emphasizing "trắng" (for white) and đỏ" for red, but only "đỏ" was highlighted (I guess all the other words were white, so you can't emphasize a word by making it white...maybe you could've made the emphasized "color" words BIGGER than the other words in the sentence?). Same thing at 5:08 (màu đen và trắng). At 4:15 you skipped over "hồng" (which apparently means pink, like your wristband). :)

Hi Kim. "Là" - the verb to be - is used differently in Vietnamese. "Là" can only be followed by nouns, not adjectives like in English, for example: "Tôi là giáo viên" - I am a teacher, "Đây là bạn của tôi" - This is my friend etc. In this case, colors are adjectives so we don't use "là". Hope it helps :)

Hi Kim, màu in Vietnamese are both nouns (when each stands on its own) and adjectives (when they go with a noun).

Putting them in sentences to help you see the difference: "Đây là màu tím" means this is the colour purple. "Đây là chiếc mũ màu tím" means this is a purple hat.
