For me, the Tombstone is the mother of all finishers. It is a perfect fit for the Undertaker, for his style but also on a metaphorical matter, Tombstone = RIP (a good fit for his Wrestlemania streak). It also is the finisher that has finished more Wrestlemania matches than any other, so many iconic endings on top of that, like the one where he catched Shawn Michaels from a Moonsault and going from there directely into the Tombstone, which ended the greatest match of all time at WM25.

And IMO Hogan's leg drop, the AA, and the people's elbow all belong in the same tier. Whether good, bad, or indifferent, they're all more about the theatrics and the person doing them than the move itself. Big E's big ending has the potential to be similar

Jason Bell Yeah, I would totally agree, if it were incorporated more in matches by more wrestlers. Thus far, (to my knowledge), it as just been used as a finisher by Triple H and Seth Rollins.
@jasonbell7914 жыл бұрын
People don't use the pedigree except as a finisher, but that doesn't make it not a weaker piledriver. If Triple H wasn't still a major force in wrestling, I think it would be usable. But people also use a basic piledriver as a finisher sometimes, too, so it being a weak piledriver doesn't really make it not a finisher, too. Just weaker looking than another finisher.
@jasonbell7914 жыл бұрын
@@ChristopherJames1993 That's fair, but when he started using it, it looked more like he was starting a pile driver than any other move you saw back then. It looks like a pile driver and an X-factor had a baby with a butterfly suplex as the surrogate. And again, being a face buster does not make it not look like a weak piledriver. One can argue a face buster is a weaker variant on a piledriver.

@xIllMadeKnightx4 жыл бұрын
I think the keys to a great finisher are you CAN telegraph it, to showboat and work the crowd, but also can hit out of nowhere. They should also look both devastating and unique, as it's part of a wrestler's identity. Moves like the Stone Cold Stunner, Sweet Chin Music, the Curb Stomp or the RKO work so well cos they can have theatrics but they can be hit suddenly, you can believe the impact of them kills, and (at least for the guys who primarily used them) they're iconic-looking. Adaptability and impact make for top-tier finishers in my opinion. One of my personal wrestling 'Straight To Hells' is moves that are made Finishers just because they're over. The People's Elbow I love... as a signature move that gets a pop, a high-spot in the match... but as a finish it's trash. Same goes for The Worm (except I never liked that) and shit like Santino's Cobra and recently Otis's Caterpillar. As high-spots, sure. As finishers, get the fuck out!

Let's talk about the spear, my disdain for Bill Goldberg aside he does HIS part of the spear well by throwing his shoulder into the opponent with force. The only guy that did it as good, if not better was Rhyno in ECW. Both guys looked like they wanted to kill everyone. But what people tend to neglect is that half of what makes a spear (like any move) look amazing is the person selling it. Eg. best Goldberg spears were on Christian and poor Nunzio in the Royal Rumble (Go back and watch that one). Roman's best spears were always on Dolph by far.
