Back in the early 2000s, Windows had a silly selection of default profile pictures to choose from. These images are incredibly charming and nostalgic to me, so in this video I'll be tierlisting EVERY single one of them, to finally find out which ones are my favorite.

That "metal doohickey" is a jack, used for a game called jacks. It's not just one of those old timey games your grandparents played either, there's depictions of it inside the Pyramids in Egypt and possibly a prehistoric cave painting. It used to be played using the ankle bones of sheep and goats. The spinner thing is a gyroscope. It's like a top, but you can also balance it on its tip completely sideways and it won't fall.

15:18 Wait, it…it IS?! You’re telling me all this time as a little kid thinking ‘omg it’s the Texas tornado that’s our roller coaster’ I was RIGHT?!? I had no idea, I live in the area that’s from, Wonderland amusement park in Amarillo. Hell, the place was my first job. Never got to work that ride specifically myself, and unfortunately I can’t recall the time before they repainted the coaster to be red+blue opposed to white. I’ve rode that thing countless times, though. That profile picture was always close to my heart when I was younger, and it’s kind of crazy to know that it was taken just a couple miles away from me and used so frequently.

What I really love about everything from Windows XP to Windows 7 is the whole nature theme or everyday life for most of the backgrounds or profile pictures. They all feel so calm and relaxing same with the glossy backgrounds too, everything has this simple yet comforting feeling that reminds me of summer maybe it's just the feeling of nostalgic but I do miss little things like these when it comes to Windows as a whole. The backgrounds, pfp, games, other media like pictures, videos and music being already a default on when you first get them.

Jsyk the "metal doohickey" is a jacks from the game Jacks! It's a really old game I played (badly) as a little kid. Basically you have a container full of jacks and a small rubber ball, you kneel and spread all the jacks on the floor/ground, then you bounce the ball and try to pick up as many jacks as you can before the ball hits the ground again. Very simple but fun in the right setting - you might it c:

The "music thing" was a bass clef, Which is used by lower instruments (trombone, bass guitar, etc.) Clefs are used because different instruments are on different octaves and is difficult to read if they were all the same "range".

Ohhhh my god the Texas tornado is from a theme park called wonderland in the city that I grew up in, I remember all my family riding it whenever I was super little but I was always so scared to go on it, the red was so that it matches the theme of the rest of the park! Across from it was another ride called the Mousetrap , absolutely crazy to see that this ride that was a super big part of my childhood as I went to that theme park every summer is an iconic profile picture. Like I live in kind of flat land middle of nowhere taxes but there she is, big and iconic apparently

What a wave of nostalgia. I definitely remember these profile pictures fondly, especially whenever I would use the old family computer. I remember my mom using either the orange flower or the butterfly for her account, and my brother using the fish. I do kinda miss the older pictures and their aesthetics, but I get updating it so that you can use any picture you want.
