5:50 Fun Fact: If you look closely at the Cold War Wunderfizz, it is actually a mashup between the OG Wunderfizz first found in Origins and parts of the old perk a cola machines found in the og Aether story (WaW to BO3). On the top left you can see old speed cola, the top right old juggernog,and at the bottom the base of old Quick Revive. Also, the reason why in Cold War the Perk-a-colas are now in cans instead of bottles is to fit with the 80s theme of the game, as opposed to the 40s glass bottles

Neon White has vending machines that work a bit weirdly, they spit out set cards, whether its health or weapons, everytime you hit them (Katana slashes, gunfire, explosions, or punches) Also Postal 4 has pretty funky looking Vending machines that can get you practically anything for the right coin

Yume 2kki has a lot of items you get from vending machines, including but not limited to: basic soda cans, entire wedding cakes, ship in a bottle, and ice cream. You can find them in lots of worlds, a lot of times the vending machines match their surrounding environment

Yo Kai watch has vending machines that usually only dispense Y-cola, Soul tea, Spiritizer-Y, or, if you are lucky, X-treme! They have several mentions from NPC’s, can be found at some stores, at even have relevence in quests! They have an additional type of vending machine that are blue and can have items or even Yo-Kai under them. In Yo-Kai Watch 2, you can even get an old version of Y-Cola, showing they even had a presence in the past to add to representation elsewhere. The vending machines have an additional use in Yo-Kai Watch 2 in the Infinite Tunnel, where they dispense random items or even yo-kai. They also have varying prices from machine to machine in the infinite tunnel. Take this information if Polygon Doughnut ever decides to make a part 2.

One of the main mouthful modes in Kirby and the Forgotten 💀 Land is a vending machine, the same brand as two entire levels (!!) in the game and several in-universe advertisements. Given that Kirby shoots out soda cans, I'd say that that somewhat satisfies the Goofy Gamer Instincts. Mid to high tier

Golden Light is a roguelike reverse prop hunt horror game with a single, generic brandless vending machine that can not only be a stage prop, but also an enemy. one of the helpful characters in the game is also one of these vending machines, and they sell random consumables (though they look far from tasty).

For a potential part 2 I'd say a game called The Outer Worlds has the best vending machines around - There are a whole lot all across the game world (spanning multiple planets) - There are many different brands of vending machine. With the whole Anti-Capitalism message of the game the brands are integral to the story and a very big part of the lore, so they add to the worldbuilding - They look neat and fit in nicely with the atmosphere of the game (which feels great) - Every time you use one they have a little jingle (one unique to each brand) :] - You can hack them to sell them things somehow - They sell many useful items such as drugs, tools for breaking into places, and plasma swords (very cool) Conclusion: S+ tier vending machines beat all other games

Persona 5 has Vending Machines trough the game which you can use to buy cheap recovery items in the form of drinks and sodas, you could empty the machines of drinks and they will restock the next in-game Monday, they are somewhat important especially in the earlygame as an easy source of SP recovery, which is usually hard/expensive to come across

There is the "Shell-out machine" in splatoon 3, but it's more akin to a Gachapon machine than a traditional vending machine, but it is functional! In Splatoon 3: Side Order, there's Vending Machine Floors, where there is a vending machine that you can buy a new special, new sub, prlz, color chips and lives!

I don't think anyone talked about this one yet, so; In the game Lobotomy Corporation, there's a vending machine abnormality named "Opened Can of WellCheers" (or "F-05-52"). Just like every other abnormality of its kind, you can send your employees to do work on it. If the work result is normal or good, the can of soda provided will recover an employee's stats depending on which work process they did; however, if the work result is bad, the employee will imediately fall asleep and get taken away by waves, resulting in their death.

Fun fact: in GTA San Andreas (and the definitive edition) after CJ drinks the Sprunk, the can model of the Sprunk stays inside the vending machine and it doesn't despawn unless CJ leaves the area. The game keeps track of how many objects can be loaded at once, and each can takes up a slot. Since each can never despawns, each can takes up one space in the storage. So in theory, after CJ drinks approximately 500 cans of sprunk the game will crash due to all of the slots being filled with Sprunk cans.

Tokyo Mirage Sessions has a few vending machines but one in particular changes its appearance after a specific side story, since one of the characters ends up shooting an ad campaign for a popular soda brand . (That game has a lot of changing background details that reflect what you’ve done in the game, too but I digress.) Plus uh the main character Itsuki describes every drink you buy in vivid detail that makes every single one of them sound refreshing. There’s also the Honkai Star Rail vending machines which are unique in each world you visit (two so far), and have drinks unique to each world that have a range of different healing or buffing effects.

They are good dont get me wrong, but in order to keep the list fair it shouldn't be any higher. There is only one design that has different colors, and the brands aren't advertised anywhere. Also only a total of 4 of them are even functional in one area.

Train Sim World 2 has a few Pringles branded vending machines that Pringles used for advertising. You can find them on the Schnellfahrstrecke Köln-Aachen route, but unfortunately they are unusable and are there purely for decoration and advertising.

There are vending machines in Half-Life, its expansions Blue Shift and Opposing Force, and its remake Black Mesa. The drink machines will dispense random soda cans that heal 1 HP, but the snack machines unfortunately do not carry this same luxury.

Halo 2 has two separate vending machines. One is called Blast soda and the other is an easter egg to Red vs Blue. You can also see vending machines on the Halo Reach map Reflection

Yume Nikki has a bunch of vending machines all across the dream world and its always hilarious to walk through trippy drug land and encounter a completely normal vending machine sitting in the middle of the madness. They're the only thing you can use your money on, which can only be acquired by killing NPCs across the game, so in a way the entire mechanic of being able to kill NPCs for their money is solely reliant on the existence of vending machines.

I’m surprised that you didn’t include The Evil Within vending machines. While there isn’t much functionality or variety, some of them have nice gimmicks. (Not gonna spoil them for those who wants to check it out themselves)

Some other games I would add for a potential part 2. Anger Foot has a vending machine you can kick to make it launch energy drinks. Paradise Killer has another lore related vending machine that's interactable. Surprised you didn't mention bioshock's plasmid vending machines.

The pongon vending machine, Its a toy vending machine that gives you different toys from the Polygon Donut cinematic universe! as emojis that make sound, the chaincomp, a door, a small version of the vending machine, a lot of Hot Wheels, cat stickers, a replica of the christmas tree and more! I know it's a bit old but Paradize killer Aka "Vaporwave, Now with murder" has a whole list of collectables drinks you can get from vending machines. Weirdly the drinks are reall good at giving you lore and even an upgrade if you buy enogh... And one has a "bug" that's cause it to ask you if you wanna bone ;skull emoji; fun game i really recomende it.

The game Innovation Arctic Facility on ROBLOX has funny vending machines. If you press the middle selection, you can order dynamite. This dynamite drops out of the dispenser while lit and will explode shortly after being ordered. The other options are food items you can pick up and eat. The game Innovation Spaceship also has a funny vending machine in the cafeteria which plays lots of meme audio and creates a lot of explosions while fabricating your order. The food and drink options there also each have their own unique and funny functionality.

Half-life 1 and Black Mesa have vending machines that you can either press buttons to dispense soda or break the front so all the soda falls out. Also the soda can be used to restore your health by 1 point each

Definitely need to add Outerworlds and Bioshock to this list! Vending Machines are also found in the Pokemon games with specialized drinks.
