Hey everyone, a few quick notes: 1: This is not my TeamSeas upload. That one is coming soon though! 2: Yes, I've already made a video covering snakes. That video, unfortunately, got copyright claimed and I had to remove a portion of it in order to keep the video up. I figured since that video was old anyway, I'd rather just remake it. So hopefully this one is way better, too! It's more than twice as long.

Interestingly, venomous snake builds developed earlier in the meta than non-venomous builds! This means that many snake mains actually decided that trading out venom was overall a beneficial move. To be honest one of the limitations of these tier lists is that they seem primarily concerned with solo gameplay rather than the success of the group as a whole. The list seems inarguable with regards to Colubrids when it comes to that criteria, but considering how damned many of them there are it's obvious that when taking the success of the whole group into account these are far from low tier. Garter snakes (genus Thamnophis) are literally everywhere in north and central America. It's sort of hard to argue that this is an F-Tier build when it comes to overall success.

Garter snakes do have the social skill though, something that the majority of snake builds lack. This grants them a good safety in numbers and does wonders paired with their Live Birth trait. If you aren’t a competitive player and just want a fun, simple build with a lot of customization options, Ball Python with a human teammate is actually pretty great. The human’s intelligence stat often unlocks new skins and designs for their teammates, and it just so happens that the devs gave Ball Pythons a RIDICULOUS amount of customization options in terms of color and pattern. However, the ball python intelligence stat isn’t high enough to unlock new skins on its own (other than random loot boxes) so you do need a human player to help you out with it.

As much as I love the Indigo, I doubt it could be ranked as high as the Kingsnake build. Fun fact: it's well known that snakes have to shed their skin, but their lack of limbs makes it incredibly difficult for them to do so. As a result, they have a period of time leading into a molt where they're incredibly itchy and will roll around on rocks or fallen logs to scratch themselves. I've encountered cottonmouths doing this while walking on nature trails, and it's honestly very funny. I really cannot overstate how much I don't recommend doing this and how bad of an idea it is, but they'll happily accept scratches from, say, a particularly long stick you found, and they'll lean into it because it feels nice. It’s funny how people view Australia.. a lot of time on their builds you mean that a few just specced into venom because they’re slower and not as powerful as the prey on the server? I wish he'd mentioned how the higher tier snakes are so terrifying, they actually give a huge buff to all snake builds in terms of Intimidation. ESPECIALLY to human players- while some can use their Study ability and learn about the different types a vast majority will Dash out the instant they even THINK they see a snake, thusly saving even the weakest players of the build from Humans, probably the most OP of all builds. Though this is also a similarity with Arachnid builds, Snake builds are much more powerful at their best so I'd say this tips the scales in their favor.
@titan80193 жыл бұрын
This is actually a common mistake in the human player's "danger sense" ability coming from their ancestors, when humans were so weak that almost everything was a bad matchup for them. This is just a skill they have yet to relinquish because it gives them dangersense in social situations now which is useful. Snakes aren't the only ones with this intimidation factor, spiders, bees, some classes of shark (like baskin shark) and many other small form animals have gained a plus in their matchup due to primitive instincts
@Pikana3 жыл бұрын

Actually, this is a main feature of the game for various builds, even cats are extremely scared of really anything bigger than them or anything they have fought with on the past, this is actually an obvious double edge sword since it means that anything scared from them will have higher chance to escape and be aware of their location, getting the advantage on the battle.

It's weird seeing garter snakes in such a low tier, when they're so *prolific*. I mean, granted, an individual garter snake is surely much weaker than an individual player using most other snake builds. And yet, they must be doing something right, because they're in absolutely no danger of being wiped out; they're everywhere. Perhaps it's simply the combination of high respawn rate and ability to harvest XP from ridiculously common prey (notably insects).

Fun fact about the rattlensnake's "rattle" ability - their specialized rattle gear was added to the game AFTER the ability was. Quite a few other snakes use the ability without the specialized gear, moving leaves and stuff in the underbrush to act as a distraction - since the snake's weak point is in the same spot as its weapons, this acts as both a defensive move AND a feint for an offensive strike.

I dispute garter snakes placement for two reasons: one, their ongoing evolutionary war with newts has provided a benefit; at least some species are able to sequester the poison in their body, and in turn, become poisonous themselves. Second, their distribution. They are found in some of the regions (like western washington state) where very few other snakes can survive. Their smaller size is responsible for that. Also more an interesting note; they are one of the few snakes to live in a group, outside of brumation/breeding Edit: to be more specific, garters can survive in *colder* locales due to their small size. In western Washington, its quite temperate/cool, and we have two types of snakes; a few species of garters, and rubber boas.

Black Mambas definitely deserve to be at the top. I once witnessed a PvP duel between one and Steve Irwin, one of the best grappler players in the Human faction to ever exist, and it came very close to getting him. The fight ultimately ended in a draw, but only because Irwin withdrew, knowing full well he would lose the battle of attrition. Not a build you want to mess with bare-handed.

Jormungandr didn't exist. Recovered pieces of text from a leaker living in the Scandinavian area claimed that the games final update would be called "Ragnarok" which would lead to the game being taken offline for all players. Jormungandr was supposed to be the final boss of the update who would crush the earth by wrapping itself around the planet. Leaks been disproven ever since

Hi there everyone! I’ve heard of a new bug in Outside. Apparently, if you join a human player’s party as they switch servers but leave right as they connect, you can join servers that ban your build. Perhaps it might be a good idea for a video to document what this bug does to the meta? It’s called the “invasive species” glitch.
@veggiedragon10003 жыл бұрын
It's a known bug but it's certainly not new, at least in the timespan of humans having access to server switching through boats. A video would be cool though. Even Burmese Pythons in this video took advantage of a similar exploit in Florida, but instead of leaving right as they connect, they left after becoming a pet support class.
@truttle45223 жыл бұрын
the devs should be working hard to fix this exploit but there's a leak that the next update: the climate change update might fix this bug by nerfing the viability of the human class.

Not only does it not have the protective armor of Combatant builds, but is also restricted from using most of the better weapons in the game. Another important thing is that humans are instinctively weary of snakes, so much so that they even came up with the dragon build based on the fear of snakes and crocodiles.

True. But dragon builds are human fantasy which means you can only be them with games inside the game. This means that only human builds have access to them and human build games are just way to simplistic to this one, as most of them have a protagonist gimmick meaning you only have access to one character and their powers are pretty much fixed, meaning you can’t spend evolution points on them

i'm surprised King snakes made it into C tier without their mimicry being mentioned, whilst they didn't spec into venom they did invest points into their colouration, instead of camouflage they have bright warning colours the pattern of which mimic the highly venomous Coral snake, adding to their intimidation and deterring potential predators
