After I watched your video I went and bought one for my lady Brothers SQ 9285 and she wasn't excited at first because she had her SINGER since she was in high school. BUT, when she opened the box and read the features I FELT LIKE A SUPER HERO she was excited about every single feature then I showed her your video a few seconds ago she was over the moon . I may get steak and shrimp tonight. As a man with little knowledge of sewing and sewing machines THANKS TIFFANY YOU ARE THE TRUTH. RESPECT!!!

I just got this machine for my birthday. After a long long absence from sewing I wanted to sew again. (I used to sew all my kids clothes)I was ready to throw this machine through the wall!! It’s smarter than I am!! I’m not used to bobbins on top or all the fancy buttons! It was boxed up and going back to the store when I decided to look for videos and try one more time. You have just dried up my tears and given me confidence that I can do this. Thank you thank you!! I will be telling everyone I know all about you!!

Thank you so much! I just bought that machine to supplement my Juki semi- and industrial sewing machines. I already started playing with it and I love it. I just wish that it had automatic cutter and a free hand. I got spoiled with my two Jukis which gave me the "third hand". But so glad that I got this machine; I make purses, aprons and other kitchen items and this machine is great for the smaller things. It's affordable and Brother is a good brand.

I absolutely love the Brother SQ9285! I just purchased this machine at Walmart(to make masks bc of COVID-19)for $199.99 +tax +$16/2yr waranty. It came with 10 different presser feet, including one to do free motion quilting, and a wide table attachment. This is the first sewing machine I've ever owned/used and it's very beginner friendly. I even had a fabric jam & was able to take it apart &fix it! Great sewing & quilting machine.
@TiffanysQuiltingLife4 жыл бұрын
Awesome ☺ and a quick note to prevent fabric jams use a leader and and Ender. Which means fold up a scrap piece of fabric and sew that in first then without breaking thread sew your project then take that same one from the top snipped off or a new one and run it in behind your project that way it's under the needle. That will prevent most fabric jams into that long hole the needle goes into. I hope that helps ☺

I was having trouble getting the machine to stitch backwards smoothly. I wanted a video to get up and running quickly, because, like you, I am making masks. When I saw that I can use the buttons instead of the pedal and that I needed to unplug the pedal, I tried that and now I can speed along well. Sometimes I instinctually grab the inner knob on the wheel when I want to move the needle and that will change the stitch. I have to train myself not to do that. Like others have said, I think you might be forgetting to lower the presser foot.

Did u have any issues when u first started using the machine? Did u have to change the presser foot before you could see? I keep getting the same error E1 I have checked out everything the manual says. I REALLY don’t want to have to go back in the store to return this and try to get another one Thanks

@@teresamccabe5733 For anyone else getting the E1 error message. Brother uses the same error message for more than one model of their sewing machines. You need to lower the presser foot (all the way) onto your fabric before you use the start button or foot controller. This is the solution for the E1 code. If your foot controller is plugged in, you can't use the start/stop button. You will get an E5 error code. I have two Brother sewing machines and checked the manuals for both machines to make sure I was correct. Any code E1 thru E6 has simple remedies. Codes F1 thru F9, you should contact Brother. I have always found them helpful.

Thanks for your video. I am trying to sew a label for a quilt and the letters are coming out a little wrinkled. Is this a tension issue or do i need some sort of paper or stabilizer under the fabric? What do you use?
@TiffanysQuiltingLife4 жыл бұрын
I use pellon 911 as stabilizer when using the monogramming. Also some of the decorative stitches come out better on multiple layers of fabric.

@@TiffanysQuiltingLife thanks, i ordered some stabilizer, will see how it turns out, its bound to be better than my first try on fabric alone.

That's almost the one I have. I think mine didn't have the table, but I already had one, and doesn't have the extra stitches on the bottom side. I like mine too. They are easy to work with. 😊

Ya they are easy to use and very portable. That's the plus over my big machine that weighs way too much 😂

Thank you Tiffany. I was waiting for this review. At the end of the video you mentioned why you use this machine, and what you didn't use it for, but I could not understand what you said. Can you go over that again please! Thank you! ❤️

I mainly use this machine to make Tags for Quilts with the monogramming. I use it to piece battting scraps together, and to do applique on quilts like for dresden blocks or something like that.

Where did you find the out-sourced spool holder, and how much did it cost.

Amazon or Ebay and it wasn't more that $5 dollars
