I just ordered a new battery disconnect switch. However this video explains why sometimes it seems to work and sometimes not. Not n batteries are dead. Wonder if I can cancel my order. I

Yes, it has to have good battery voltage to work.

This video just saved me massive hours of running around with my fluke… for the life of me I couldn’t get the disconnect to disconnect or connect. Bad shore power cord, killed batteries.. everything opened and stayed open… errrr.

Looks like to me the battery wiring was not right from the beginning. It was only using the front two batteries as power. Thanks Don. Ps you should be getting a postcard soon. Thanks again

I went back and looked at the pic I took before we started. I think it is wired right. I am being serious. If you have a minute sometime, draw a diagram of how you think they should be wired and email it to me. [e-mail]

Right on you guys I’m thinking the batteries were overcharged maybe when I park my trailer for the winter I disconnect my batteries and run a auto detect battery charger and maintainer I’m not sure if the converter will shut of when the batteries are charged so I just don’t trust it 👍

if the house batteries are improperly installed, can that blow up the solenoid?

I wouldn’t think so, but it is NEVER good to hook batteries up backwards.

Question, on a motorhome when you are driving it, can you run the a/c or the water heater on electric ? If you can what is the power source since you are not plug in because your driving ?

Nothing. Some people find it easier to hire someone to replace the batteries every couple of years, rather than maintain the batteries.

To avoid any sparks, the right way is to connect the positive + terminal first, and then the negative - .To disconnect ,- first and + last.

@@hillbillyrv my RV lost all power do the driving section no headlights no gauges turn key and nothing like I don't even have a battery in it I messed around and found ignition proof coach solenoid and believed it to be bad I took off the wires running from it to the starter in the other wires that went to it and ran it all to the positive and everything came back on and work so can I bypass that solenoid and just run the wires to the battery to get it to drive because from what I've read and seen so far the ignition proof coach solenoid is mainly for the house batteries which I currently have none in it and won't have any in it for a while so could I bypass that by running the wires do the positive terminal like I did to get everything to come on so that I can start it up and drive it

@@ancientrelicboy8426 You can bypass a solenoid. It is just an on-off switch. If you don't want or need to turn it off, bypass it.

I went out yesterday the positive terminal runs from the battery to this ignition proof coach selonoid and off the bottom another terminal that runs to the starter and a few other small wires going to it...I took all the wires and put them straight to the positive terminal and all power came back
