You're the man! I shadowed my dad as a kid he was a mechanic. I turned my first brake drum at age 10. Always glad to watch your show. 10 of 10

Perfect bearing replacement, I do it just like that . I found when I install the new race I use the old race to start the new one. I put the cone to cone and drive it with a small hammer until the old race is even with the hub , and then use my brass drift to bottom it out .

I'd say you were perfect with the how to of this job. Only comment would be, knowing what bearings to get. Size wise. I always seem to have a problem, making sure I've got the right bearings and races, and seals. Great job Kenny!

Nice job. Good idea cleaning new bearings, and this is a good example of why I don’t like to rely on easy lube. I like to lay my mark 1 eyeballs on the bearings- easier to change at my shop before it spun on the spindle than to have a ruined axle out on the road.

Nice job! That's how I learned to do bearings 50 years ago. Now I just need to set a reminder for myself to repack the bearings on my trailer this spring, before we travel.

Shoud their been a washer between the front bearing and the Cassel nut to keep the grease from coming out of the back of the bearing

I've only done this job 50X so don't have your experience, but driving those races in with that punch makes me muy nervous. I find that a race and seal driver kit works for me. Btw, where did you get that amazing vice?? Looks like one of those tools that gets handed down from generation to generation!

It's only about 20-25 years old. We have broken them that size before going full gorilla on something.

As usual another job well done. I’m sure Bill Hilly was supervising in the background. I really don’t know how the pioneers got along without a bearing packer. I love them muchly. It’s hard to not violate the 10th commandment as I look at your well equipped tool shop. 👍🙂✝

So if you want to make a road trip to Nebraska I’m getting ready to replace/upgrade the springs and axles on my Keystone with a Lippert frame. It’s setup as 10,400 lbs on a 12,545 lbs rating. It’s going to be a true 12,000 suspension when I get done. And I’ll be adding the X brace bars. You do it like I was taught many, many years ago BUT I ordered the grease packer you use. I always put the grease in my palm and packed them that way.

Not sure what the other ways are but that's the way I was trained to do it long ago. I do use a cheap bearing driver set to seat the races but the result is the same. Folks that don't have either a brass drift or install tool can grind the outside of the old race until it just slides into the bore and then use that as a tool to pound the new race in.

Tech tip. Use the old race to install the new one then knock it back out. No chance to mar the new race.

Nice work. As a suggestion get some of those Nitrile Gloves to protect you from solvents found in the parts washer and brake Kleen. I was told those solvents are absorbed by the skin and ends up going to your liver. Anyway, your methods is what got me to where I'm at. When I was a kid I used gasoline as a parts washing fluid, and of course gloves of any kind didn't exist yet. I see you have a hydraulic press, and was surprised you didn't press the new bearing races with it. Billy Hill out!

Video's dialog: "And yes, I got shoes on". I guess times have changed. When did wearing shoes in Appalachia come into vogue? My wife was raised as a West Virginia hillbilly and in all of her ancestral extended family's group b&w photos, everyone is barefoot. She's so hillbilly she managed to buy a home on the side of a hill here in Phoenix, a rarity when one considers the few number of hillside residences vs all Phoenix area residences. Thanks for showing the proper method for wheel bearing servicing.

I have question, I was hoping you may have an idea about. Cant seem to find anyone that has the same problem. If it is a problem. 04 Fleetwood pusher. Has 2 Atwood furnaces in it. The rear one on start up gives out a exhaust smell only on start up. Should I be concerned?

If Money isn't an object I replace the bearings and races. For my camper it's it cost $27.70 a wheel. Probably not much more than the the seals, break cleaner, and time would cost to repack the originals. Also you are not putting used bearings with so many miles on them already. They are a cheap china part anyways, even the ones from Lippert come from china.
