IMO Dier isn't really gonna play as a 6 but rather gonna give the Bayern defense a bit of depth. They went into the season with only 3 CBs and 1 good natural RB and had to play all kinds of improvisation, so getting another affordable flexible squad player is the way to go.

Tuchel's decision seemed puzzling as Dier appeared reluctant to tackle, exposing his back while questioning his teammates about their defensive actions. Instead of clearing the ball, he often conceded corners to opponents, which raised doubts about his footballing abilities. His defensive coverage area is smaller than the goalkeeper's, making the situation even more difficult.

Tuchel is a phoney. He was unbelievably aweful at Dortmund, he was poor at PSG based on their historical and expected success, he was fortunate to follow Frank Lampard, get the new manager boost just at the right time then win the champions league before the level dropped off. He is now at Munich where he scraped a Bundesliga win last year when it is usually a breeze and now they are not the imperious, all powerful side they have been in the past even though they have the best striker in the world. Munich would be better keeping Kimmich and losing Tuchel. Any manager who wants to replace Kimmich with Dier are not the right man for a club of Munich's stature.
