Great job on that small part, Aaron! I know how challenging it is to weld on tiny parts.

The heat management on that little part was awesome. I would have nuked it for sure. I’ve subscribed to your course so hopefully I’ll learn all about it. Cheers!

Wow. Well once again, you’ve completely opened up my brain and inserted some spectacular ideas, thank you. Quite the riding area!!! Not a sound around but a little two stroke symphony and that view.

Agreed, wish I had thought of that before I machined a piston ring groove out for a oil control rail. Would have been a lot nicer quality and control. 👍🧑🏭👨🔧

High speed tool steel. Can also use old drill bits for hard facing filler rod.

A little compressed air would pop that old grip off in short order. Just blast the air in at the throat of it.

About 8 years ago my throttle cable housing on my dirtbike broke where the line is held into the bracket and due to not being able to find one for how old my bike was i rode around on it having to pull the cable with my finger and thumb... Wish I had the skills and capability to do exactly what you did in this video when i was younger 8 years ago lol

So legitimate question, while this is a great display of skill and ingenuity to fix a problem, and understanding you make youtube videos, specifically aluminum welding. would this not have been significantly easier and more efficient to just cut from a piece of aluminum plate ? Or was this a "for youtube " exercise? Im just curious if I'm missing somthing ? as a welder , novice home machinest and pleb dirtbiker rider, I'm always up for learning more ... Either way great video and great outcome 👍

To help with odd shapes when turning on your lathe, could you rig up an adjustable speed strobe light to freeze the rotational movement as you advance the tool post for added safety and or accuracy. Just a thought, you seem very creative and think outside the box. Great videos on your site as soon as I can afford it I would like to purchase a Tig welder, very elegant way of sticking metal together. Thanks

Why couldn’t you have just cut out the additional section from that sheet and welded it to the existing piece? Seems like it’d be a lot less work?

You did the best job with the video quality while welding/building up that cable “cam” for the throttle. I haven’t seen anything like it on KZbin. I don’t know how you did it, but its awesome 🙂👍 I could see how you actually puddled up the aluminum 👌😃 I’ve never TIG welded anything, so it’s really cool, to me, to see that.

What size lathe do you have please?? I mostly want to do the same things you do and I'm wondering if I haven't been setting my sights on something too large. Your lathe appears to be just right or do you wish you had something a little bigger??

what are the advantages of building the whole thing up by welding rather than taking aluminum stock, cutting it to the right shape and welding that to the part? using stock seems more straight forward to me.
@Precivilization2 жыл бұрын
Then it would be a machining Channel, not welding :). It shows you the techniques used is building up edges, heat management etc..
