Brandon, what you said at the start is really what makes KZbin channels like yours so great for EVERYONE (beginner-expert/weekend warriors-welding business owners) to watch. Every fabricator has different ways of thinking 🤔 and one isn't necessarily better than another, just different. I always enjoy watching someone else's thought process and picking up new tricks along the way. A welder who's been in the trade for decades can always learn new things from the apprentice he or she is teaching providing he or she has an open mind and not the old school my way or the highway mindset😉

Thanks man I appreciate it! @Apex Custom Smokers. You hit the nail on the head perfectly! "A welder who's been in the trade for decades can always learn new things from the apprentice he or she is teaching providing he or she has an open mind and not the old school my way or the highway mindset". < This statement here holds true to a lot of things in life! Well said brother! 👍🙏

You have done it again. Thank you for giving us additional information and ideas to do our own fabrication. If you can, make it!!! Lots cheaper and will do the job to YOUR exact specifications and needs. The weld method is relatively irrevelant because we all have different welders and means to weld, but the method is much the same. Well done!!! Did you by chance consider the idea of an adjustable piece that has BOTH styles of lifts but put on a swivel on the top of the lift??? That would have been fun too!!! Then, you would have the two methods of lift on one device and not have to take one out to change, and it would always be there and not have to look for the right type of lift for the bike you are working on!!! Just a thought.

Thanks for the video,, On gloves,, I normally do use them and the only time I didn't the grinder got bound and jurked out of my hands and as it did it wrapped the cord around my left arm,, and when it did break lose it got my hand,, that turned out to be a bloody mess , would have been much less if I had gloves on.

Nice video. I've nearly finished creating my own paddock stand from scrap 1" box section. It's nowhere near as good as yours, but it's my own design and all my own work. It may not be pretty, but it gives me a real sense of accomplishment.

Appreciate the information on metals depot because it's 154 miles 1 way for me to get to a metal supply so this will help a ton @Brandon Lund
@BrandonLund2 жыл бұрын
I remember you saying a while back it was a good distance to the metal supply store. I'm real happy with them. Like I said, the shipping can get pricy but they have distribution centers all over so likely you will have a distribution center near you being out west than I will here being on the east coast.

Brandon, you could make a stop for your Evolution saw that could hook under the left or right edge of the base of the saw and be portable. I've not gone to the cold cutting saw yet, but I do plan to do that in the future. In the past, rented a welding shop on the farm where my shop is, but they sold the business, and the shed where their generator was to power their business is now where I have my shop for now.
@BrandonLund2 жыл бұрын
Thats a great idea @Bryant Fry! i'm going to look into something like that. Thanks! When you pick one up you are going to be on cloud 9. I ruined my 1st blade because i was cutting stock by just putting it into the saw like you would if you were cutting wood. Once i started cutting metal on the bias is when my blades started lasting real long. It's why i mention it in a lot of my videos.

I'm not a bike guy and would have no use for this, but I always learn something from your videos. If you had a Patreon I'd certainly throw in a buck or two. I see one of your affiliate links is for the Irwin chamfers. I always get chatter with those types and a rough-ish cut. I prefer a cross-hole cutter. Opinion?
@BrandonLund2 жыл бұрын
@Terry Hernlund thanks man! I agree with you about getting chatter using the chamferbits and i agree the cross cutting bits run smoother. I'm cheap so when i start getting chatter i sharpen my bits although i'm not sure you are supposed to so they last me for a very long time. i'm not sure if the cross hole cutters can be sharpened?
@TerryHernlund2 жыл бұрын
@@BrandonLund You can sharpen them with a Dremel tool and a fine grit drum. Look up sharpening Weldon countersinks. Here's an old video on it. This guy gives kind of a long explanation of them, but about 3/4 through is a demo sharpening one. Pretty easy. kzbin.info/www/bejne/mpebp4Nupb6kq7c

I’m new here, just want to know if there’s kind of a general/recommended settings of TIG welding (pre-flow - start current - upslope - current - downslope - post flow) according to each material and its thickness?. Just like they always have a settings chart attached for Voltages and Wire speed adjustments based on material thickness for MIG welding equipment.
@BrandonLund2 жыл бұрын
There are some basic settings but much is based on cup size, material and thickness. I like to refer to the Miller Weld Calculator online and it will give you all of this information.

I prefer to wear gloves when grinding especially grinding something that tour holding it only takes a second for the grinder to catch wrong and deflect and slam the wheel into your hand holding the material rather sacrifice gloves over my hands @Brandon Lund

As for using gloves, OSHA says that they are not allowed on rotating equipment like saws, drills and the like. Years ago I had to rush a coworker to urgent care because he was wearing gloves on a gang saw, and the blade pulled his hand into one of the blades. Though he didn't loose any digits, he very easily could have. I agree with OSHA on some thing, and disagree on others. However, at work, I do follow the rules as no one wants to loose their job over one's boss being fined for a violation.

I work in fab drills no gloves grinders and cutting discs always use gloves brandon I wear glasses have my safely spec's set up like reading glasses but to 2 ft great for welding bummer to walk around in
@BrandonLund2 жыл бұрын
@Bryant Fry Scary stuff man! I've had simular close calls over the years and it's never fun. Unrelated, (i think the statute of limitations is up to be fined lol) I was inside a fiberglass silo 22 feet up that was filled with whiffle balls. It was an air scrubber at a sewer treatment plant. I was gluing up a piece of 8" pvc when my light went out. My assistant (without my knowledge) lit his lighter. The minute it sparked the fumes exploded with us inside. The pvc glue caught fire, my hands caught fire from throwing out whiffle balls that had burning pvc glue on them. Needless to say no one was seriously hurt and nothing caught fire but getting hurt happens in an instant.

I havent used a lot of their consumable products. I have a welder of theirs I absolutely love but they stopped making it so I dont feature it on the channel. I try to use things that a consumer can get their hands on so even though it's one of my favorite stick welders it sits on a shelf. I just bought a roll of Blue Demon silicon bronze MIG wire and repaired some cast iron with it. WOW. Wait until you see it. Thats what I'm working on this week.
