1/16 tungsten is also very handy for less than 50 amps in my opinion

That was a great video. I really appreciate how you showed what was going on at the machine, and with the pedal. In regard to your customer, I find it difficult to understand why he wouldn't just go with a bulkhead fitting. I know there's not a lot of room, but I also know it is effective, and most likely more cost effective than having something welded.

This is the video I have been looking for since I started TIG welding. Now I just need to get a welder with the foot pedal instead of the hf button on the torch. 😂. Great content, I have learnt so much from you. Thank you for putting in the time to help us learners.

All shaky and whatnot?!? Justin, that was MINT!! Thank You Sir for posting this. Low amps stuff is definitely not my strongest attribute, BY FAR.

I have done this modification to the gas tank inlet/sending unit before and found another way. Rather than welding where the tube passes through the flange I welded (a couple good tacks is all that was needed) a bracket inside the flange which the tube also passed through. Then soldered where the tube passes through the flange to create a seal. Your way is definitely superior, but my skill level is not there yet. By continuing to follow along on your channel hope to improve my skill. I thank you for everything I have already picked up in a short time.

I do these types of repairs for all our restaurants and 20 gauge stainless jobs. I run 16th tungsten and filler high frequency constant and about 20-30 amps on the pedal.

Silly question would a silicone bronze rod have worked better? It would've wetted into that gap very nicely and dare I say would have been a stronger connection.

Strange how you seemed to be focusing the arc mainly on the edge of the flat plate rather then the tube wall. I'd have done the opposite, as it's effectively a T joint rather than a fillet. Is there a reason for this?

Yes please on the low amp stability. I remember in your tungsten videoyou mentioning certain electrodes handled it better, but I'd like to see more on the topic.

Hi, I have watched a few of your videos and have subscribed. I would like some advice, and maybe a lead to a video about tig welding without a foot pedal. My machine came without a foot pedal. it has a port to plug one in but does not have any wires connecting the port to anything. I was wondering how to control the amps in such a case? Thanks Chris

Could you go more in depth for when sugaring is acceptable for automotive purposes & more
@notanymore9471
@notanymore9471 Жыл бұрын
Sugaring will cause premature failure if say you weld a stainless exhaust without purge. The backside of the weld getting an oxide will be a stress riser and can result in a cracked weld. So if you care about quality never. Lol.

Why did the return line need a purge? Just in case you blew thru it?

You don't have to blow completely thru it to engage sugaring process on the inside... ask me how I know it ;P

Just practice on thin stainless steel and aluminum pieces . It's a big challenge but that's how I have been learning. Now I find aluminum is easier and more forgiving than stainless.
@bdpgarage
@bdpgarage 11 ай бұрын
@@epluribusunum5405I’ve kinda discovered that. 1/8” aluminum is actually pretty forgiving. It’s the thinner stuff that gets tough. Maybe just need to work faster as it always seems to want to burn down on me.

20 gauge and down is easy enough. But I would typically just use less amps and floor the pedal for the most part. Easing off towards the end of course. Just have to move faster the thinner you are welding. Aluminum foil is screaming fast. But it is like any other welding you just have to watch the puddle and move accordingly.

That's the stuff I dick with all the time. Tiny parts, tiny welds, tiny space, tiny x,y,z, heat-time-travel. Maddening. Almost have to burst tack it, as you go. Put the rod there, floor it once. Repeat, to not overheat it. Very tapered electrode and tons of shielding gas. Or, if you can per item, heat it some with propane torch, like a ten second blast. Makes it wet out easier, than cold.

Looks all new and neat. My go to lumber mill is out in the boonies and looks like a scene from deliverance😊. Dirt and stone driveway (nice and muddy after rain), with the exception of some sort of milling machine all the machines look older than me but they are a good group of guys and prices are right 👍!
