Tiger as a Totem: Personality Characteristics and Life-Path Challenges

I've come to know tiger as my "warrior totem." When I was 22 I was working out a lot. I was having difficulty coming to terms with my body dysmorphia regarding my sexual orientation (more or less looking physically optimum in the gay community.) it was a time where I felt like I had to defend myself and fight back against people who were judging me. It was a BIG DEAL that I become the beast I felt inside on the outside. I needed this "approval." Tiger started showing up everywhere. I approach my conflicts the way tiger does. My friends will tell you, it's not when I'm loud, but when in quiet, that it's time to clear the room. 🐯

Tiger people also have the potential to be lazy. Tigers are the biggest cat, but they are still cats. All cats, big and small, sleep a lot, which indicates potential for laziness.

Just for the sake of clarity, while I do approach many things in my life and my intuitive/healing practice from a shamanic perspective, and I do work often with shamans, I do not refer to myself as a shaman because I do not adhere to many of the traditional shamanic teachings. This doesn't make much of a difference in the grand scheme of things, but I always like to be clear. :-) As for your question, no, I do not consider Lion and Tiger to be the same (or even remotely the same) totem; were I to approach them that way, I suspect they would have something rather growly to say about it! LOL! They are both big cats, and so they do share the qualities common to big cats, but they each have quite a lot of wisdom to share that is unique to them alone. Hope that helps! I've been trying to find my totem for years. Your videos have helped me quite a bit. Only in the last month have I come to accept tiger as my life totem. I've known clues of my animal for a long time. I knew it was grounded, had fangs/sharp teeth and claws, could make a loud sound or roar and was drawn to water. But I think I've always been...almost afraid to accept this about myself. There is power and intimidation there; it's hard to swallow a little bit. These are not things that other people flock to. Lonely existence, honestly. But things you say about emotions is so true I feel it in my heart. I feel things so deeply. And I do get sick from bottling things up like that, need to feel creative and challenged and free (to do things my way). I also can and will cry for every extreme emotion; happy, sad, angry...haha As an adult I've evened out, but I've always had a deep "rage" in my gut I could unleash at anytime. It's taken me so long to learn to control it. Pretty aloof and cool most of the time, but if backed in a corner - I certainly cut deep. Everything you said about tiger-people was incredibly close to home. Well, anyway. It's interesting that you would post this vid just as I'm getting to know my true self. Without fear or reservation. And looking back from the beginning of my life I've always loved big cats. And I look back and NOW have these stark memories of tigers. Picking the tiger toy. Getting a Zoobook about big cats, but drawn to the tigers on the pages. Going to zoos and having tigers come to the glass seemingly out of nowhere to have a look at me. It's so surreal to think he was there the whole time, but I was too scared to let him be part of me. Just running away from those natural qualities. I've been beaten up by life the last 4 years...maybe now that I am willing to embrace tiger he'll help me be the person I always should've been.

Lol so true , am a wood tiger .. I can go into rage if threatened , very emotional. Act in ways I don't understand.. Always loved water since I was a baby.. Thinking a lot. by repressing it only builds up (I repressed for years which needed a lot of releasing to be one with the universe, it took ill health to learn to release toxic energy) owing my own mistakes is the key... creating helps one release or walk by the ocean collecting shells. put the feelings into creating the new without a mask just being in the now, grateful. thanks so much makes sense :)

I'm a tiger person: I'm prone to getting really upset, stressed, and ANGERED I am very interested in the supernatural and paranormal world. I am pretty big, when a teacher will say you dont have to do much I will go all out TO BE THE BEST! I am really happy when people tell me 'atta girl' 'and good job' and when people don't I slightly feel upset and feel I didn't do good. I get along with males more than girls I'm pretty prone to being happy and then all of a sudden being angry when someone bothers me and I will get LOUD. I'm glad you enjoyed the videos! With regard to how they work together...they *don't* work together actually! At least not often! LOL! Different totems represent different parts of ourselves and our journeys, and these parts are often mutually exclusive. So Tiger might be tied in to how you are as a career-woman or adventurer or romantic (or whatever else!), while Owl might be tied to who you are internally, the more secret self that no one else sees. So it tends to be more helpful to ask ourselves which PARTS of ourselves and our journey are the ones in which each totem tends to come to the fore. Hope that makes sense! Warmest blessings to you! Hi, Cat! I can't help but feel after reading your message that the issue is not so much discipline, but perhaps the need for clarification around your astrological and numerological make-up. If you are indeed an 8-8-8 in numerology, it is actually the case that your destiny revolves around developing a positive view of money. Money isn't evil, nor is having lots and lots of it a bad thing; it simply represents an exchange of energy and the way in which we demonstrate that we value something. Believe me, poverty is no more holy than wealth! There is a wonderful numerologist that you can find online named Felicia Bender; if you go to her page and read her descriptions of Life Path and Soul Urge 8's, you may find some clarity. 8's DO tend to struggle with money, but this is all part of the journey, and you can be wildly wealthy and feel just as free one day. Also, the idea that Taurus is an uncontrollable glutton is an antiquated one; I'm a double Taurus (sun/moon), and while I used to struggle with binge-eating and other eating-related issues, what needed to change was not my eating habits, but my emotional ones. Taurus often eats for the sake of comfort; when you learn to understand why you need comforting and work with that, the desire for lots and lots of rich foods largely goes away (I eat whatever I want these days, but rarely in excess; when I'm full, I effortlessly stop eating, and I no longer feel the need to eat just because I'm bored or unhappy). I hope this is helpful for you; in short, stop telling yourself what you should/should not want, and see if you can be more accepting of who you really are. Just remember that you are your own best judge of what is good for you; if information from someone feels good, and it gives you a sense of enthusiasm and empowerment, it's speaking to your spirit, and it will help you in some way. If info from someone else makes you feel badly about yourself, tired, angry, or inadequate, it's either not right for you at all, or not right for you at that time. Yes, it's absolutely possible to have more than one totem; in fact, we all have more than one! :-) Too, it's really quite wonderful to have two totems that are so different (though Tiger and Snake actually have a lot in common! Both are VERY intense and creative, though they are on opposite ends of the emotionality spectrum), as this indicates that you will be doing an exceptional amount of growth in this lifetime. It also creates the capacity to develop a supremely compassionate way of being, as through your own growth, you will have learned to see things from so many different angles. I've never thought much about tigers but after having a single dream my thoughts have changed. It began with a tiger entering my home, snarling at the others as they tried to stroke it but just sat on my and kicked my arm. I then began realising how tigers were everywhere in my life. We had paintings and statues of them. I soon read that it's great to have a tiger totem (A wooden carving) and realised I already had when I came back from flamingo land. I later learnt that they appear when you are going through changes such as starting college and surprise, I'm just about to go to college... However, one thing I must ask is can they be...strange?... I keep thinking that my tiger has sabertooth teeth but I'm not sure. Oh and about the emotions are very true, I've recently been having problems with my emotions, switching between depressed episodes and happiness. Water however isn't something I'm great at but I have had the urge to go swimming for ages.

Today I was grieving and praying over the shadows that have fallen over our world, when tiger showed up in a completely unexpected way. While travelling on the local bus, I stood back and allowed a mother to reverse and push out her heavy pram. Lo and behold, I was shown a huge realistic face of a tiger printed over the hood of the pram 🐯 Clear sign from my totem guide - as black as things are, now is not the time to lose faith and courage. I've had a strong feeling a long time that my commanding totem is Tiger but just recently got a dream I asked for that answered that feeling. I'm still in the "unlearned etc" Tiger part tho but it's very nice to see such an accurate talk and learn what now feels like i already knew. Thanks!

Hi, Ari! The video was about the tiger species in *general*, not about specific kinds of tigers. So when I said that Tiger is the largest of the big cats, Siberian tigers were included in that statement (I was not talking about *which* species of Tiger was the largest, only making the statement that the Tiger *species* includes the largest big cat in the world [unless you count the Liger, which is not a naturally occurring species]). So the statement is still valid :) I appreciate your attention to detail, however!
