Wow! This is a beautiful project. I hope to make one of these.

Hi great video, was there any manual setup for the screen or USB audio or was it all recognised automatically by retropi, have you considered adding a volume dial or slider?

MAKE ME A... Hi, thanks for the comment. To answer your questions, the custom version of Retropie that I linked will automatically recognize the screen and USB audio; however, you will need to rotate the screen in the configuration file. The info is listed in the video description. Also, concerning the volume, I have no plans to add a volume slider/knob because it can all be adjusted through software. The way I have my audio volume adjuster setup is through the hotkey and the d-pad. It works quite well.

MAKE ME A... No problem. Good luck with your build. By the way, I would love to see your project when you finish. Take care.

This is INSANELY helpful! Especially when you took off the front and showed how the buttons on the front (sound, off, score, etc) worked as well as how the perf board held the tact switches. Thanks to you, I have a LOT more confidence in finally getting to work on mine! One question though, which tact switches did you use for the project? The build seems to be built around how high they stick out (mostly the part where you had to take out the black parts of the membrane to get them to work). Do you mind telling me where you ordered the ones you used? Thanks again, I really appreciate you going through the hassle of taking it apart and explaining how you got everything in there!

Thanks for the comment and kind words, and by the way, I'm looking forward to seeing another Pi powered Tiger handheld in the wild -- hopefully soon. ^_^ Best of luck.

I promise I'll post a vid up and be sure to send you a message here on youtube to let you know when it's up! Also, don't know if you saw it but I was asking which tact/micro switches you used for your build?
@Leonsk086 жыл бұрын
Sounds great. Regarding the switches, I salvaged them from another electronic device, so I don't have a specific part number. However, I just measured one of the spare ones I have and it measures 6mm(L) x 6mm(W) x 5mm (Height from the bottom of the switch to the top of the button). If you find that your buttons are too tall, you can remove the black contacts from the button membrane. I had to keep the black contacts on my DS Lite button membranes, while in contrast, I had to remove them for the front four Tiger buttons.

Have you ever tried creating custom decals?
@Leonsk086 жыл бұрын
Jan Werthwein Hi, in the pre-stages of the build I contemplated making a custom vinyl skin that would go over the original plastic fascia, but I never pursued it. If I ever built another, I will likely make a custom front fascia. By the way, my fascia was a little beat up, so I used a little mother's mag & aluminum polish with a drill attached buffing sponge and it made a huge difference. This method is similar to the way people clear up their car's yellowed headlights.

This is awesome! Would you be willing to do a step by step video tutorial ? 🙏🙏
@Leonsk083 жыл бұрын
Hi, thanks for the comment and kind words. I'm not sure I would make a tutorial because if I made another it would probably be different from this one. If it's any consolation I would say the most difficult step in creating this is mounting the display and it only requires trimming the plastic around the original screen mount. I'd say the software side is probably more difficult overall but there are some good guides getting Retropie up and running. Search for a project called Pigrrl and it will basically give you everything you need to make my project but with a different case.

You could pretty much put Raspberry PI in pretty much everything! Hipcat did the same thing to the Jurassic Park Tiger Handheld, but he kept the old Tiger controls.
@Leonsk086 жыл бұрын
That's true - Pi's are small enough to fit into almost anything. The real challenge is what can you do to make it unique and interesting. I'm familiar with the Jurassic Park (or Jurassic Dark lol) Tiger Pi, as he commented on one of my Game.Pi videos. If memory serves me correctly, I believe he mentioned my build inspiring his project.

How much to build for me if i get the sonic tiger game myself and have you install the raspberry. What is the cost??

Hello. I appreciate the offer of a commission, but unfortunately, I do not have enough free time to be able to churn one out in a decent time-frame.

alireza mirmohamad Hi, I beg to differ. The link for the software is in my video description, and my Pi model is listed, in the title, and mentioned various times though out the duration of the video. *edit If you are referring to the micro SD card, that is also described in the video. It is a 32GB Samsung Evo Class 10 UHS1 Micro SD card. The read and write speed is up to 95MB/s (read), and 20MB/s (write).

genial24 Hi, that's interesting. I'll definitely have to check that out and I appreciate you bringing it to my attention. I've been a fan of Ben Heck's work since the days of his original SNES, and Atari Portables -- The Portables of Doom days. I wonder if my username is still active on his forum? Lol. That used to be THE, place for portable console modding.
