I keep close relatives to your Limia islai, Limia nigrofasciata. The juveniles look almost identical to the tigers. You've got me wanting to switch up their tank with a giant sexy piece of driftwood now!

My tiger limia are VERY shy. They absolutely will NOT come out of hiding without a ton of dither fish. With just a couple of active white clouds, they still hide. With a dozen or more white clouds, cherry barbs, and pencilfish, they were out all the time.

Beautiful tank, great video!! Just a video idea oh, I was thinking a video about the odd things fish do. As a new fish keeper you see them do a lot of odd things you wonder if it's a health issue. Like flashing and glass surfing I see my fish do this often and still kind of wonder if it is okay for them. More so the flashing guess I better Google it lol

Nice video as always. Professor doing a lot in my super red bushy nose tank massive water change, feeding stuff out of my garden for awhile, repashy also. 14 caves different shapes and sizes anything else you would do to encourage them to spawn?This is the group of young fish I have been growing out since last July/August long and short mix dark red.

I feed mine a healthy dose of blood worms too. They are much slower to mature and have offspring than regular bristlenose in my opinion.

Water lettuce or frogbit would also look awesome in this tank. I wonder if a floating water wisteria would also look nice in this?

With all your time in the hobby, have you found a place where you can pick up driftwood at a reasonable cost?
@PrimeTimeAquatics
@PrimeTimeAquatics 4 жыл бұрын
The best place for us is the local swaps. A little cheaper there compared to retail. Amazon can be fun, but you never know exactly what you are getting.
@TheOfficialSteelReign

@@PrimeTimeAquatics Yeah, that's the problem with anything online. I've gotten some stuff from LiveAquaria (Dr Foster & Smith before they sold out to Petco). They're fine I guess, but none of it has any character at all. Just chunks of wood. I'm just (maybe a little more than just) west of you. Do you have any suggestions or recommendations on which swap meets are the good ones to go to? I haven't joined any groups either, mostly because I didn't think it would be worth my time but, the more I watch on KZbin, the more I think I've been missing the boat.

Did the Driftwood have any effect on your ph over the 10 weeks?
@PrimeTimeAquatics

None - our KH is high enough that our water is well-buffered.

I really like the look of the driftwood in the tank. Will driftwood always keep tannins in them?👍
@PrimeTimeAquatics
@PrimeTimeAquatics 4 жыл бұрын
Usually over time the tannin release gets reduced to a point where you might not even notice it much. This is a big piece in a smaller tank so it will be noticeable longer. :-)

They are doing great. I have them both in a 75 gallon, but I may separate them. I was hoping for a pair, but I may have two males.
@GulfSaratoga123

Prime Time Aquatics did you select a large irregularis and a small irregularis in hopes of getting male/female? They are pricy CA cichlids, I see why you might not have bought a group
