Could you explain how one would attach a tail to a ball shell or canister shell???

For me I just use a large bead of hot glue on a large star and stick it to the top of the shell. I'm sure there is a better way, but this works for me... The surrounding flame from the lift is enough to light the tail on my shells, but you can make a small slit in the quick match near the top of the shell to help ensure it lights.
