That second rod you used can be either a fly rod or a spinning rod. You can take the butt out of the rod, swap it round so the reel seat is at the bottom of the handle. There’s different tips for different functions, really cool! The snake eye tip is for fly fishing, a couple for spinning (heavy and light) and one for bait Fishing!

Love the vids dude, you do a great job. You mentioned that trout tasted a little fishy, I recommend bleeding your fish after you bonk them. Gets rid of all that blood in the meat which can make it taste like that. Excited to see more videos!

@TroutNBass Try using short shank hooks. Also, put an index finger near the reel as lure it is in motion. This causes wind knots and tangles. You need to feather your reel. That's why you're getting tangles.

Always a good day when Bass'n'Trout released a new video 👍 Hey, question. I just started fly fishing this week. No fish caught yet, but I'm starting to get my casting down. Went out for the first time today, and spent most the day getting my flies out of bushes and just being frustrated overall. Any tips for a newbie? Already sick of fighting with it more than fishing with it. I want to keep at it, but so far it makes me just wanna go back to my spinning rod.

Those lakes you fish are so awesome and remote that I was wondering if you ever have bears or mountain lions on your mind when you’re out there? I would have a tough time getting comfortable and enjoying myself knowing I’m the only one out there. 😅

You were mentioning about hook tangling. When I encountered in same situation, I swap the treble hooks to slightly larger hook. Maybe in your case also need to change the size of treble hooks.

Yeah I was thinking of throwing some smaller hooks on.

Question for ya: Are you using barbless rapalas? If so, where do you find them? All the ones I've found locally have been barbed. Online, there doesn't seem to be a great collection of them either. I suppose I could take a file to the barb if I wanted to, but just figured I'd see what you're using. It seems like your fish come off the hook pretty easily. And I almost exclusively do catch and release, so I prefer barbless or a pinched down barb on my spinners and fly rods.
@bassntroutfishing Жыл бұрын
No they’re not barbless, they do come out fairly easily since these are smaller fish and have softer mouths. With bigger trout pliers come in handy, or you can pinch the barb down.
@gibsonrocker17 Жыл бұрын
@@bassntroutfishing Thanks, dude! That's what I figured, but just wanted to check. I've always got a set of hemostats or pliers clipped somewhere on me. Definitely one of the best things about working in the ER is there's no shortage of hemostats 🤣

Hey man if u fry fish with just flour no bread crumbs u should try adding some baking powder it makes it crispier
@joegrande4848 Жыл бұрын
I had a situation awhile back in a bad way because didnt end up getting the fish. I had the fish hooked but was on a light set up. I was trying to bag smaller bait fish and a descent fish hit my rig hard. I used 6lb line on a drop shot an a striper hit my drop shot with a vengence. I used a 5 inch mullet colored fluke heavily scented with procure trophy bass. The striper fought me at least 10 minutes. Threw drop shot in a pocket near the edge of grass and thats when striper destroyed my drop shot😮. An agressive head shake and broke 6lb line 😢

You should go throw some dry flies on seven mile. Small fish, but super fun to see them rise and suck in the fly. And consider getting a pair of forceps to keep those nasty barbed treble hooks out of your fingers. Don't need a "catch and impale" video.
@bassntroutfishing Жыл бұрын
I need to throw dry flies more often. I just don’t have any confidence in them yet
