I met Richard and Aaron about 12 years ago when they were still renting from Phipps. My brother and I spend most of the time talking to Aaron who was by far the more engaging and interested of the two. Richard was only interested in what Richard was doing but he did pause long enough for a hand shake and a few pictures. Aaron talked with my brother and I for around 45 minutes until the production pulled him away to go get a 59 Apache from KC's shop. I think he'd have talked to us all day if he had the time.

Richard is a "Richard". I was born and raised in Texas, the way he treats people is not how you should ever treat people. Easy to see he is just what most of the people that have worked for/with him say he is. Look up the story of what happened to his restaurant. Dennis Collins IMO is a great example of how to treat the people you work with and buy from.
@Trains-With-Shane Жыл бұрын
Agree on both counts. I've not had the opportunity to meet Dennis yet but you're spot on about Richard. I watch Dennis's Coffee Walk videos all the time. And i've got a bunch of friends that have met him since i'm local to his shop and they all like him.
@Oneness100 Жыл бұрын
Richard's too much of an alcoholic. he focuses too much on pushing Miller beer, his Tequila. Also, Richard was doing his builds in a compressed time frame. Dennis more about buying cars, and restoration, but Dennis doesn't really do quick builds like Richard and that adds a tremendous about of stress. That's part of the reason. But you can't deny that having 15 seasons of a TV show is VERY rare for shows to last that long. Name another show that has more than 15 seasons. Now, Richard can do whatever he wants in the time frame he wants to do it.

Sue had the nickname of "Dragon lady" and I half expected to see Ricky boy build a car and put that name on it. She has the fire in her when someone starts their bull, best believe. Her and Christie are probably better off not being in the spotlight though, because the spotlight will change someone. Those two don't need to change. I'm glad that Christie is doing well after her cancer bout. That's what got my dad. Aaron made the show. His attitude, or lack thereof, and his intelligence made it possible for me to watch the show and have interest in it. When he left, the brains did too.

Nothing brightens my day more then Hearing Richard going broke! Losing his brand deal with the resturant, which he never told anyone that he did not own the Bar, just lent out his name. I never liked him, I know he does not care if I do or Don't. But to see him getting knocked of his high horse put a smile on my Face! Aaron leaving is what made the show Die, He claims that Gas Monkey is the best Hot Rod shop in the US, but sent 90% of the builds to other shops because no one there could do it. Don't believe me? Look up the shop that is doing the C10 that they built, The stuff they did to that truck, wow..The short cuts that were taken is Bad!

Aaron was my favourite by a mile. But also really liked most of the regulars, including Casey, Mike, Charles and Jason. Also had a huge crush on Christie - great to hear she's doing well now. 🥰 Richard always came across as being too in love with himself and a ball-buster with his crew. A bit of a pantomime villain. How much of that was real and how much an act for the cameras? Liked the banter between him and Dennis anyhow.

Discovery had the say on everything, Richard had huge obligations to meet he was integral to the shows huge success without him there simply was no show, had massive time for Aaron and the rest of the crew their individual characterisations worked well together and was pretty much a family affair, miss the series big time.

I met both Richard and Dennis in Vegas when they was selling the gas monkey tequila. Went and brought a bottle with my mate, Richard signed it and quick photo. Dennis had a photo and was nice enough to ask where were from, talked to us about cars. Richard was like a hi - bye type of meeting. Similar to Mike brewer and Ed china. Mike wasn’t bothered about fans when we wanted to talk about the cars, but Ed was happy to chat but Mike cut him off and said they had to go.

Just cos you were in the military doesn’t automatically make you a saint. There was another gun show that had rumors of crazy stuff happening within the family and Discovery thought “yup, we don’t care, people are really into guns right now, let’s green light it.” Some girls end up getting abused. Aaron was soooo over rated as a mechanic. He thought every car needed air bags even a Ford GT. I believe I remember Aaron installing an LS engine in a wreaked million dollar Ferrari. Aaron would start a build without knowing what issues would happen when changes were made. Basically he kept getting in over his head. Was his leaving the show bad. Yes, because he was part of the clown show at Gas Monkey. He tried a few shows in his own with zero success. The spinoff misfit garage was one of my favorites with the word misfit being the perfect fit. From watching Gas Monkey Garage. The only people other than Richard who was focused on making money was Ass Monkey Sue because she had her own upholstery shop and got paid and Richard's friend Dennis who currently has a very interesting U-Tube channel buying and selling garage find cars. Gas Monkey had a fun run, but ran out if ideals that kept the show popular. I figured when Richard decided to open a restaurant/bar. The end was near with most of gas monkey garage income likely going to the restaurant keeping it afloat. Personally. I miss it.

Saying Aaron is an overrated mechanic, hmmmm! What about the time he put a modern hellcat engine into an old school challenger, even after Dodge company told him it could never be done. I would say that that’s a pretty dang good mechanic.
@tjroelsma Жыл бұрын
@@kirkstersstuff2006 Agreed, but he did complicate a lot of builds. Richard often had a clear vision of what he wanted and that could be done within his deadline. Aaron always wanted to go the extra miles and assured Richard that he could do it and still meet the deadline. A lot of Aaron's complaints on having to work too hard to meet Richard's deadlines were therefore self-inflicted wounds.
