BUT NO EXCUSES, I AM DETERMINED TO GET BACK ON FEET WITH CALISTHENICS. I’m slowly doing what can With HIGH INFINITY Ab EXERCISE & TOTALLY GOING THE SEATED PIKE PROGRESSION. I didn't even know hip flexor strength was a thing until recently. Years of gym work and know one ever mentioned this. I then switch to calisthenics and suddenly boom! I have zero strength! I struggle doing knee raises. Get really sore top of legs cuz I have no strength. Was amazed to learn its cuz of no strength as I used to think it was tightness just like how Daniel mentions it here. Great video, hits the nail on the head for me here!

OK so I've been doing the techniques outlined here for about 2 weeks now, and already I can touch my toes with little effort. @blakeclarke84843 жыл бұрын
Can you explain the theory behind this? Or a peer reviewed article that explains it? Our day to day movement patterns train hip flexors so much - walking, sitting, running, forward lean in lifting things for work, squats, lunges, hack squat etc etc. Yes tight HF may induce anterior pelvic tilt and lengthen hammies contributing to them being weak, but HF's being weak are not something that clinically you see as a common trend at all

Thank you so much for this video! It's always been so hard for me to touch my toes, usually taking me about a month of hamstring stretching to get there. @marchcyr5 жыл бұрын
@Daniel. Great exercises and suggestions. Another additional tip, for the supine banded hip flexor exercise you can further isolate the illiac-psoas muscles by applying this simple trick. It is definetly harder if those isolated muscles are weak. It is an addtional progression after the straight leg crossed arms variant. If you can angle your body in such a manner so as to resist abduction (move your body at a 30 degree angle away from your working leg). The ending position will be a flexed working leg crossing over your other non-working leg in hip adduction (think straight leg pretzel, but the bent leg is floating in the air resisting the band). This small adjustment will reduce the amount of force the quads and tfl will be able to exert.

Could strenghtening the hip flexors be an issue for people who have anterior pelvic tilt? Often, we lack harmstring tightness to tilt the pelvis back, but still, we do not have this harmstring flexibility that should allow us to go toe-to-bar.
