I use babolat pure aero and use a alu power rough. I have my tension at 47lb on the main and 45lb on the cross. Is this tension good or what tension will be better for this string?

Could not agree more ! I use a Blade 98 18x20 and currently using Solinco Tourbite 20 gauge (1.05mm) at 19kg mains / 17kg crosses. The feel is awesome and for a recreational player like me it's perfect. My point is: you should string loose and use as thin of gauge as you can without breaking it too fast.

See as a coach, beginners comes with a board hard stringpath in there new racket. The factorystrings are always board hard and of lowest qualety. I alweays tell my students . Get your racket restringt with "soft" strings (not poly.) so you can feel the ball when hitting and save your arm from inflamation. They might say ; but Olaf I can"t stop the ball from flying when the tension is so low. So I answer ; don"t swing so fast when learning .you can do that later (swinging faster) when your tecnic has become more fluit.

But what gauge and tension did these guys string their racquets? That is important. Anyway- for us non pros 40 to 50 lbs tension with full poly abnd 16/17 gauge- provides a nice balance of power and control.

Some years ago I was stringing my racket with unknown poly at 27kg and thought that I will spray the balls if I go lower (it was happening but not because of string tension :) ). Now I improved my technique and I'm now using natural gut 23.5kg in the mains and soft poly at 22kg in the crosses. The feeling is beautiful! :) Maybe Šamir is just afraid that he will not be able to control the ball but I do believe he has good enough technique to lower the tension.

When I didn’t know anything about tennis strings, I had them string with the poly string, I think at 70 at Dick’s Sporting Goods. It was a complete board. You couldn’t put any spin on the ball no control whatsoever. It was like hitting the ball with a brick.

55lb with 4G is indeed crazy. The tension maintenance is too good. Maybe Shamir should try a softer poly or maybe even a multi in the crosses with 4G in the mains.

u r right about too tight string robbing power and requiring more work to hit with power. a couple years ago i was usta nationally ranked. i'm retired and exclusively play younger folks. brace for impact... i string at six pounds. yes. 6#. i use Weiss Cannon Ultra Cable co poly string. i've noticed no tangible difference in string longevity. loss of control is a bit of a myth. yeah, it might take an hour or two to get used to super loose strings but it isn't a big deal for a skilled player. a lot less work at the lower tension. i also played for a year at 20#. meh. don't be afraid to go lower - its a lot easier to play controlled form and let the racquet do the heavy lifting. i might be the loosest guy in the world. but i'm playing competitive league tennis against younger players and doing it well. stay loose my friend - dos xx
