Tight Stop Scalping Momentum Trade Setup
There are certain conditions where you can get away with using a tight stop. Most people try to use a tight stop too often; you should only use a tight stop in particular circumstances and setups. This is a 1-minute chart - the theory behind this trade is momentum - you are taking it looking for a quick momentum trade and coming out. It is aggressive and very quick and you need to have a very quick stop with it because it can get nasty. We are looking for a continued move in one direction.

Exactly, and I use tight stops when scalping, but everything depends. When the market is ranging I use support/demand. I use tight stop to get out of a trade too, because no one knows how far it will go (and this is the reason why I don’t use final targets anymore). That stop I used today.

Another great video Mark. I have learned a tremendous amount from your content. Some great confirmation of concepts I"d learnt and tried to apply as well as reinforcing how to eliminate those negative aspects we all experience along our trading journey. I'd like to say that I get a huge amount from this style of video where you talk through the chart. I enjoy trading this strategy, it's very intense. I also use 3,2,2 stochs to let me know when price is likely to stall, also important to read the candles as they play out so the end can be maximally detected.

I really appreciate your videos on this topic -- scalping and the thought process or psychology in an open trade. Price made a big move, the first sign of momentum. Do I put on a trade? Now that I'm in, here's some movement in my favor, then some congestion. Stay in, or close/scale out? Boy, the open candle is sure driving down hard. Then bang, it abruptly halts and shoots back up to close near its open, with a long wick down. Reading candles as they form is nerve-wracking at any timeframe. I know the vast majority of beginning traders out there aren't aware of, or are not yet willing to commit to paid charting packages that offer flexible tick charting options. This is not a cure-all, and in fact the additional information can bring additional analysis paralysis with it. But I've found that many lessons I've learned from your videos and others on scalping are very applicable all the way down -- 200 tick charts, 50 tick charts, 5 tick charts, even 1 tick. Spread becomes bigger than the individual tick price changes, and typical period intervals for MAs (10, 20, 50, 100, 200) get very noisy. But the greater resolution or granularity of data means you can start to see inside an M1 candle, just like 60 M1 candles let you see inside an H1 candle. And I'm a contrarian anyway, so I don't put much stock in specific "magic number" periods, unless it's on well-viewed timeframes for bigger money (daily charts).

Right now Dow drop from from 280 to 180 on five minute chart. Exactly this situation. Great, but guys with balls can get easy 1000 points in just two weeks. Two trades like this per year and that’s it.
