the belts allow som 'give' to reduce shocks through the gearbox and to the tractor.

That's a different style of flat mower

Still applies. This is identical to mine under a different name, and it requires leveling the drive shaft. Otherwise, your upper pulley is slightly out of alignment with your lower pulley, resulting in uneven tension on your belts.
