Every time I am at my absolute lowest point, feeling hopeless and disappointed and washed up, either this song comes on the radio at just the right moment, or I stumble across it. It always makes me feel like trying again. I'm not surprised that anyone who could write a song like this would eventually turn his back on the grind of the music industry, and I hope today he still believes his own song.

Joan-Carrol Baron ... Yes, Joan-Carrol, and maybe also a real sign of a true prophet is whenever something hits multi nerves in mega peoples, especially at the end of an age, eon, millennium; and the herald, avatar, hero, like Greg appears to have done, and suddenly drops away, it can only make you think and wonder.

This song has represented to me the last good bye of the 90's. It has that late 90's sound and energy. You feel invigorated and love it but a tiny part of you is sad when it ends because the 90's are gone with it.

@Br Olsos I think it’s mainly because he’s got a unique and different voice. I agree he doesn’t have a huge range or broad technique but it’s more about his voice matching the song style and lyrics. He’s also got a voice that is very fun to listen to. If you had a singer like sting or something, it would totally change the timbre of the song and stuff like that. IMO

In the depths of coke addiction in the late 90s, this song would come on mtv when i was coming down, feeling guilty and like shit and it would give me hope, make me cry and feel happy at the same time. Thank God I beat it and the song still takes me back and reminds me to be vigilant and not take anything or anybody for granted. The greenpeace vid with this song is amazing. I used to think it was cheesy as hell, but over the years came to love it.

I've learned so much as a result of this song. I suggest doing some searching on songs that Gregg Alexander has written. I was stunned to find out about "Game of Love", and "Someday We'll Know"! LOVE, LOVE LOVE learning about connections like this! Huge fan of Santana, and his version of that song with Michelle! And as a Huge fan of Hall & Oates and Todd Rundgren, was stunned to learn about "Someday We'll Know", which I had never heard before now!!!! So cool to learn about these things!!! As I write this right now, I can't even remember how I came upon this song in this vid, and why I don't remember it from "it's time". But that is one of the blessings of the internet and the utube!!!! Talk about "6 degrees of separation"! ;) And did I say..............what an incredible performance this was on this vid!

"You Get What You Give" Wake up kids We've got the dreamer's disease Age 14 We got you down on your knees So polite, We're busy still saying please Frienemies, Who when you're down ain't your friend Every night We smash their Mercedes-Benz First we run And then we laugh 'til we cry [Pre-chorus:] But when the night is falling You cannot find the light, light You feel your dreams are dying Hold tight [Chorus:] You've got the music in you Don't let go You've got the music in you One dance left This world is gonna pull through Don't give up You've got a reason to live Can't forget We only get what we give I'm comin' home baby You're tops, give it to me now Four A.M. we ran a miracle mile We're flat broke but hey we do it in style The bad rich God's flying in for your trial [Pre-chorus:] But when the night is falling You cannot find your friend (friend) You feel your tree is breaking Just bend [Chorus] This whole damn world can fall apart You'll be OK, follow your heart You're in harm's way, I'm right behind Now say you're mine [Chorus] [Bridge:] Don't let go I feel the music in you Fly high What's real can't die You only get what you give You're gonna get what you give (don't give up) Just don't be afraid to live Health insurance rip off lying FDA big bankers buying Fake computer crashes dining Cloning while they're multiplying Fashion shoots with Beck and Hanson, Courtney Love and Marilyn Manson You're all fakes Run to your mansions Come around We'll kick your ass in!

This is one of the most interesting, most enigmatic songs ever written. It's genius. And this guy did one album and that's it....

Loved this entire cd. I went to a music festival at Atlanta motor speedway in 1997 given by 99x the alternative radio station in Atlanta especially to see them. Got there and they announced New Radicals would not be performing today. I was crushed and disappointed but had a good time anyway. Soon after I heard he (singer) had either gone or had been put in rehab, it was sad to me. Never really heard about them at all anymore after that. I think this was their only cd and don’t know if they just broke up or what happened. That was my understanding back then anyway. I’m not claiming to truly know what actually happened, but I am claiming that I hated that they fizzled out. Great band, I totally agree with prior comments about them nailing this song in this performance. I wore that cd out!
