Dear Sir I have a classic 500 - 2108 model, and have had a problem with my hydraulic tappets for a few weeks now, after replacing my piston rings. It has been quiet depressing, as I live in the Andes mountains of Ecuador and I do not have access to a good RE mechanic; or any good mechanic for that matter. I have learnt all about the engines and do all of my own repairs and services. However, this latest problem has me baffled beyond belief! I have searched the internet for weeks to find a video showing what I have done wrong. As I do not speak Hindi or Urdu, it’s been hard for me; however, yesterday I found your video. FYI, I have attempted to adjust the tappets a least 7 or 8 times now. As you can imagine, stripping down the engine and then putting it together again takes time. That said, there was one thing in your video that no one else bothered to mention. At approx. 9.02 you indicate that one of the most important things to check you have in place is the small rubber “O” ring that sits between the oil filter body and the internal engine casing. I remember that I had not seen this in place, so today, I stripped the engine side down and checked… NO O-RING!!! So, I made an O-ring to fit, tightened up everything and guess what… IT WORKS!!!
