I still have a half dozen or so video explorations left in my queue from recent fall (2014) explorations which I will be releasing randomly, this being one of them. As always, I appreciate your support. Thanks for watching.
This was formerly a one-room school house built in 1900. The S.S. No. 16 means School Sector #16 for the county it is in here in Ontario. It has been converted to a home at one point before being abandoned. The latest date to be found was 1995.

I just love Ontario. My family and I spent a lot of summers on a lake in Southern Ontario and the cabin we stayed in was right beside an abandoned cabin. We used to look in it all the time but I never had the guts to actually walk around inside. Wish I had though! Thanks for sharing your finds!

Tiki, I live in Ohio, 🇱🇷 I have an albumn of one room school houses. A friend took me around 50 miles to collect the pictures. There was a few in Mansfield where I live. Some were lived in and some were pretty bad condition. I bought a one room school house bell at a antique store as well as a few old school books. I also had the desk and a few other items. I love your videos because you take enough time for your viewers to actually get a good look at everything (as opposed to some of those hacks out there who quickly pan around without giving the viewer enough time to even look at what they're viewing); you're very respectful of the property; and your voice is a soothing narrative of everything I'm seeing; and you're brave as hell! Hi Tiki, this was a common layout for older schools. The mirrored rooms in the basement are the boy's and girl's coatrooms along with the corresponding bathrooms. I'll bet you $5 that it was an elderly single woman living there (there's a tiny chance she was a teacher there or attended school there) based on the types of items hoarded.

I really enjoy watching your video's! That 'furnace' in the basement/lower part of the building is also called an Octopus Furnace. Hence the pipes going in all directions. Mainly coal burned gravity hot air type of furnace. The air is heated and the hot air will rise slowly into the vents to heat the rooms, without the use of a fan, as hot air rises. Each vent is attached to it's own duct/pipe from the furnace. Later many were converted into oil furnaces. (1950's) Thanks for sharing!!

I just drove by this place earlier today nothing much has changed, the two cars are still sitting out front (Dodge Tradesman Van, Dodge Omni Station Wagon) Happy to say the building is still standing but there is a hole in the roof I don't recall if it was there when this video was first made or not. Don't bother asking, I'm not giving out where this location is, I'm not an Urban Explorer but I do respect their beliefs and rules. All I'm going to say is it's about 45 minutes away from Owen Sound Ontario

This old school in Ontario looks remarkably similar to the local schools found in the U.S. Many were transformed into residences or barns in the US as well. Great video, messy house...

You said "look at the floor" Tiki I can't see the floor LOL And in the corner we find grandma squashed under the fallen celing. It was a possibility. There wasn't a bathroom? Maybe at the front of the building. You did well to navigate all of that with a camera in hand. Thanks.

LOL, this is true about the floor. There was a bathroom in the basement at 12:46 timeline, and then in the other basement entrance, there appeared to be a bathroom stall at 15:15, but I couldn't get to it due to the stuff in the way.

No problem! The bathroom was loaded with junk as well. You could only make out the top of the toilet. I couldn't even get in there, lol.

Amongst all that junk their is probably gold. :o) You could just about live in there and you wouldn't have to buy anything except a few repairs to the roof and windows. You've got a furnace and a woodstove utensils, cups and saucers.Even a fondu pot. Tons of rubbish to burn. its all there you just have to find it. LOL

The washer dryer is called a twin tub. It has wheels and can be moved around--you hook it up to the sink and you move the washed clothes out of the washing part into a spinner. It doesn't really dry them, but it sure spins out a lot of water. I grew up with one and my Mom still has one. I think you can still buy them--they make a lot of sense for people with no hookups, low water, or limited space. Lots of nostalgia in this video for me, actually--we had a floor buffer like that and the hippie flowers on the mixer were like everything my Mom owned. I suspect that no one has lived here for a long time and that a lot of this stuff was only stored at a later date but never retrieved. Sort of a shame because you couldn't see the building well, but seeing that old furnace made my day. I love that sort of thing...

Wow Tiki, I can honestly say that is the first time I ever saw an above ground "land fill!" That old wringer washer sure brought back memories of my mom wrestling with the beast we had. Also it's amazing how fast things decay. I would have been 2 years old when this house was abandoned, very young yet still alive. Most urban explorers as of 2016 were alive in 1995. Although I could see someone born up to maybe 1997-1998 being a good urban explorer. I saw something where a 17 year old (at the time) went into Dixie Square Mall and took lots of pictures and documented it really well. February 13, 2016 12:55 am

It's a 1900 1 room school house, the stairs one side boys the other girls same as the basement! One side boys bathroom the other one is for the girls, the up stairs the wall on the far end would of been corner to corner chalk board

I’m so sad, I used to drive by this place all the time and dream about fixing it up (even though it was beyond repair 😂), and once stopped to get pics. I didn’t go inside because I had someone in the car so was on a time crunch, but I’m so happy I can still watch this video! This was fascinating! I like the way you take the time to sort of let us "snoop" a bit! I cannot imagine walking away and leaving so much STUFF! It seemed very dangerous on the main level in terms of the ceiling only being supported by some old pieces of furniture. Looks to me at some point, after being a school possibly, it was used to hold donations (toys, blankets, clothing, misc. furniture, appliances, handicap toilet etc.). Many items still appear to be in bags & boxes. Maybe after it was abandoned it was ransacked a few times. It does look like it was used to stay in as well, but, doesn't look like it was used long term or as an actual residence, IMO. Love all the time you spend showing us details! I can tell it takes quite a bit of effort, and we really appreciate it all!!!

Those large pieces of furniture under the ceiling were old, no doubt antiques! Look at that buffet and wardrobe... Beautiful! I suppose when this old school was demolished no one bothered to save them, that is so sad to me. The whole place is sad, a place where many children learned and played reduced to this. Great explore though, many things to see!

My mother had one of those Kenmore apartment washers when I was a kid. It hooked up to the kitchen sink for water and drainage. It had two compartments, the first one was large and you washed the clothes in it and the second one was smaller you rinsed and spinned the clothes out in it. They washed fairly decent, but you couldn't do very large loads at a time.

I did see a cross on the stairwell going down stairs too! It was laying on the left side. Had a furnace like that in a house I once owned. I was told it was a gravity fed one. Never knew quite what that meant. Changed it out to regular. Wish I would have saved it and sold it outright. Gave it away. Looks so cool.

Hello, Pam. This was a terrific video. The place doesn't look too bad on the outside (except for the lack of windows and some weathering. The inside is a different story. The consensus here is that the last tenant was a hoarder, but it's possible they were squatters. Some people turn these old buildings into private garbage dumps; you've shown us that on some other videos. This could be considered a historic structure; some ambitious person could save it yet.

I loved seeing the old "Cone Top" furnace. I was a little concerned if the floors were still safe for you to be walking on. Please never take any chances with your safety. You should have looked in those old purses, sometimes they contain a treasure of information about the people who lived there. I found an old purse in the house where I grew up and my parents had been dead for over 30 years. Inside the old purse was my report cards from all twelve years while I was in school. One thing I found but didn't remember was I missed a month of school in the 6th grade due to illness or some sort.

The Kenmore washing machine is cool - they were very popular here in the UK in the 70s and 80s and often made by Hotpoint and Hoover. They had a top loading washer like US machines and a spin dryer that took most of the water out the clothes ready for hanging :)

I agree with ShowerDancer. I think someone lived there, but then turned it into storage? It's so creepy that someone just up and left all their possessions. Those antiques are so pretty.

hi Pam, enjoyed this video, what a bunch of stuff! This is John Jon. I had to create a new channel, had problems with the other one. I would be overwhelmed seeing that much stuff like that. But there were a lot of old things in there. That washer/drier you found was a portable thing that you hooked up to the kitchen sink. My sister-in-law had one in 1967. It reminds of a time I had forgotten. Thank you.

Great job!! Excellent find. I would have been in there all day. As others have posted, no need to say sorry for camera work! The furnace in this one is a "gravity" type as I have mentioned in other posts. No forced air/fan, the heated air just went up the big center pipe (if you could have seen the floor you would have found a huge register directly over it.) The large pipes coming back are cold air returns and it all just worked on hot air rising/cold air falling. They probably used wood cook stove to help heat also. Just a historical note on these: the heated air was always close to the center of building and cold air registers around perimeter. Now this is completely reversed.

Cool place-could it perhaps have become a local community center/donation repository? That might account for the multiples of nearly everything and the tables and chairs. Just a thought. This is one of the more mysterious ones. It really has a lot of odds and ends but the rooms have certain distictions giving clues as to what sort of people lived in them. Wow, always look forward to your breakdown analysis of these places, Lewis! Love the machete and chainsaw idea! LOL! I wish every place I came across was like this one, with more ease of trekking, though. As far as the girls' toys go, I actually found out about them from the "Abandoned Nut House" (lol) I explored. There was a glow worm doll outside of that one as well. I didn't really know what it was, but my viewers corrected me. So I guess we learn something new every day.
