Oh great, second time I've entered into the Tikka world this year & MT puts out another vid with possible issues on something I'm actually attempting soon! Your as timely as the angel of death MT!!! 😂😂😂
@mountaintacticalcompanyАй бұрын
Oh man! That’s not my intention at all! The factory stocks perform better than most people realize. My goal with this video is to help the guys doing DIY projects understand why their parts might not be going together the way they hoped and then be able to have an educated conversation with a gunsmith so they don’t get screwed.
@jaimesanborn308Ай бұрын
@mountaintacticalcompany Na just playing. Should be a successful mission. Mcmillan cf stock with your bottom metal. Should be a winner. 😅
@mountaintacticalcompanyАй бұрын
Yeah! I’ve used a bunch of the carbon stocks in this video but their quality has gone down hill. I’m going to order a McMillan Mountain Trakker with carbon fill. Should be 2 oz. Lighter even with an integrated arca and pic.

Just purchased a krg echo chassis for my t3x lite in 7rem mag. I like it so far. Fairly light and definitely a sold stock. Gonna be selling the original roughtech Tikka stock on eBay.
@mountaintacticalcompanyАй бұрын
KRG makes great products and the owners are A1 good guys. The Echo is a genius product. I bet they sell tons of them!
@clarencesu468Ай бұрын
Im greatful you just posted this. I just bought my first tikka t3x roughtech 308 yesterday and noticed this issue as well the front end of my magazine feels spongy. It does not feed the first round well and wont catch the following rounds. Was wondering what was wrong. I can see the front end of the magazine is not in full contact with action. The stock is certainly off spec. Thank you for your video. Nice to know its not a one off issue
@mountaintacticalcompanyАй бұрын
Oh man that’s frustrating with a new rifle. Hopefully you’re able to diagnose the part of the stock that is out of spec. When you’re checking your stock, also check the recoil lug slot on the bottom of the action. The Cerakoted rifles have been having overspray issues. They may have sprayed it on too thick. It should be 2.4mm deep and 6.1mm wide.
@tikkamarksmanАй бұрын
It's very important that the recoil slot is mated to the recoil lug . Check that the gas evacuation hole is flush with the stock . If it's any gap between the two the action is riding on the lug .

Here from nz good try i give you a B+ for effort 9 out of 10. Bush pigs are generally 16” barrel or shorter and the suppressors are over barrel not muzzle forward, look up dpt or hardy suppressors. Shorter out front and more efficient
@mountaintacticalcompanyАй бұрын
Haha!!! Fair enough! Going under 16” here causes all sorts of federal issues. You can’t take a “short barreled” rifle from state to state without asking for permission from that state first. It’s a bunch of bureaucratic BS. Reflex suppressors are awesome! But they are not the norm here. I wish they were because they would be better for hunters. Thank you for the B+ mate! Keep the advice coming!

How does peak44 compare to this? I like a smaller grip than what mesa/precision offers but I can't tell from their online photos.
@mountaintacticalcompany24 күн бұрын
@@LBZOverlander depending on the model, the grip is significantly slimmer. Personally, I’m not a fan, but that’s only because I have huge hands.

Can you tell us how to fix it on Rumble?
@mountaintacticalcompanyАй бұрын
We’re building out the Rumble channel slowly but surely. After reviewing YT’s terms and conditions on firearms, I think we can cover it here as well.

Are you able to share the manufacturer of that stock? I am poised to get one that is in-stock ready to ship. I've never used this brand stock before but I know they are popular
@mountaintacticalcompanyАй бұрын
Shoot us an email. This is the first time I’ve had this happen with this brand. I don’t want to harm their business if this is a one off issue.

I screwed up my new t3x stock by misthreading the screw while installing the vertical grip. Do they sell the brass insert?
@mountaintacticalcompanyАй бұрын
You can get an M6 thread insert from your local hardware store. Worst case Amazon has them. Way cheaper than Tikka…. If they would sell it to you

What exactly is a “spongy” magazine?
@COLINSDFCАй бұрын
Basically the magazine moves up and down if you apply pressure(which Jason demonstrated), which means the magazine probably won’t feed correctly. You should be able to push up on the magazine and feel very little movement. Spongy, squishy, a magazine that moves up and down when it shouldn’t essentially. A very common problem that has been addressed on this channel time and time again!
@mountaintacticalcompanyАй бұрын
Colin nailed it. The magazine doesn’t seat against the action like it should.

@@mountaintacticalcompany Thanks to both for the further clarification.

Thats what happens when you go around changing everything and putting aftermarket parts on a gun that was designed to work as is. Like people that change everything out on a Glock and then wonder why they jam and blame Glock....
@PaulNirschlАй бұрын
Ya know everyone bitches about Tikka stocks but I really like them. They seem to fit me good and have never had any accuracy issues.
@mountaintacticalcompanyАй бұрын
Right?!?! We cut one up during our anatomy video series and it is incredibly well made.
@Simon-talksАй бұрын
it would be fine if they charged 500-600 for the rifles with those stocks though...not almost 900 or more now.
@lycheeznutsАй бұрын
Yea with the vertical grip and something to raise the comb they are just fine
@WayneGent-t2lАй бұрын
I agree people say they are cheap flimzy stock but for a factory stocks they are pretty good and rigid is aftermarket better yes most are but At least with a tikka you don't have a cheap stock like some others
@PaulNirschlАй бұрын
@@Simon-talks that’s your opinion and I’m not knocking it but have you ever picked up any Roger Americans? Now that’s a cheap stock and they got expensive
@Simon-talksАй бұрын
I wish Tikka didn't charge 900 bucks for cheap, plastic, Crosman BB gun stocks. ;(

Getting a used one on EBay or Numrich is much cheaper!

Even better, B&C and AG both make glass replacements around 30oz for around 3-4 benjies. Carbon replacements up in the 5-7 benjamoney range as well around that 20oz range. That being said, I’ve got a bunch of spares from take-offs if you’re lookin for Tupperware.
@mountaintacticalcompanyАй бұрын
I didn’t know B&C joined the lightweight stock party. I’ll have to check them out. Thank you!
@MrMcfly907Ай бұрын
@@mountaintacticalcompany haha I better clarify, B&C makes glass, AG composites make glass and carbon 😅
@lycheeznutsАй бұрын
@@MrMcfly907 get the vertical grip, sand out the barrel channel and get something to raise the comb instead of wasting 700 dollars on those ag or b and c stocks. The only one that’s lighter is the privateer which will have worse ergos.
