Wood has oils in it. The oils are actually a good thing like oils in cutting boards. It doesn’t necessarily mean your spoon is dirty. And you may end up wearing your wooden spoons out faster by stripping oils. Just a tip

For the mold: dilute 1/2 cup borax in hot water then transfer to a spray bottle when completely dissolved and cooled. Spray on the shower grout on windows or moldy tracks. Borax kills mold and is natural it doesn’t smell. Leave it for a few hours and scrub and rinse. Do this once a month or even leave it im your shower and spray it after you get out.

Lysol works great for mold, it says right on it that it gets rid of and keeps mold away. I had some mold on my back porch from rain and dumped some hot water mixed with some concentrated lysol and the mold just started dripping off my porch!

An alternative hack to the vinegar in the car: use baking soda instead. It absorbs bad odors and doesn't leave any smell behind. I put baking soda in a couple of pie pans and left them in my car for a day and it worked great.

Another natural odor remover is cutting a whole lemon in half, place in dish with open ends exposed to air. The lemon can be left under seat as it will dry out as the odors absorb: I find the lemon a pleasant not to strong scent. Love the hack!

For your shower door area- get some of the cotton rope (like they use in a salon for pedicures) saturate the cotton in straight bleach and lay it along the edges. Leave it overnight and come back in the morning throw out the cotton and rinse. I swear it works. No scrubbing, none! You can use it all along grout as well. The cotton sticks to the wall no problem.

You know how you're using the paper towels, we have extremely hard water that makes bad rings in the toilet, so I put toilet cleaner in and place tissue paper on top of it , then I put more bowl cleaner on top of the tissue. Make sure it's really saturated. Leave as long as possible. Yes, I usually do it right before bed. In the morning, the first person in flushes and gives it a quick scrub. The ring is gone without hard scrubbing.

I have been using Blue Dawn dish detergent liquid as a spot remover in my washer for over ten years. It works to take out spots or stains like crazy. No rag needed, just pour a bit from the bottle directly on the stain, work in slightly with your fingers, then wash as usual. Even handles fruit stains and the infamous "red koolaid" and red wine stains. For the tracks on shower doors and to remove that black, moldy grime around them, use a mix of half white vinegar to half Dawn detergent in a dish brush-scrub on, let sit, then 45 minutes later scrub again and rinse off. Works well.

I keep a bar of Zote soap and a fingernail scrub brush at the utility sink. Whenever I have any kind of stain, even a greasy, oily stain that I missed before I put it through the wash and didn't notice until *after* the garment came out of the dryer (urrgh, hate that!), I just wet the brush, pick up a little Zote on it and then work it into the stain and then run it through the wash again. It's like magic--takes the set-in stain right out and it's very inexpensive and one bar lasts *forever* !

The bleach in the grout didn’t work for me, but a steam cleaner got it pure white. I use the steam cleaner in places where there can’t be germs, as I’ve seen what other cleaners leave behind. It’s perfect for stuck on grease, and the window of your stove will turn spotless. One more thing I recently learned- after thoroughly cleaning your toilet, grab some oil. At the moment most of the water is flushed away, spray a thin layer of it inside the bowl. It stays cleaner longer. Stuck on spaghetti sauce on your walls? Fingerprints? There is only one way to remove the gunk and it’s probably very carcinogenic- but Scrubbing Bubbles will clean and remove app that dried in crud on your painted walls without leaving a trace.

I would love to see more tips. I have one for you too! When you need to cut small items such as grapes, cherry tomatoes, olives or such in half, you don't need to do it individually. You'll need two semi flexible plastic lids such as the ones on margerine or whipped topping. Place the top of one lid on the counter facing up. Lay the food to be cut on top of the lid filling it almost to capacity but leaving a little room. Place the second lid with the top of the the food with the top of the lid facing the counter. Place your hand on top of the upper lid pressing gently. Use a knife with a longer blade and put it between the plates. Slice gently across the food while continuing to hold the top down. When you lift the lid your food will be cut in half. Give it a try it will save a ton of time.

@@RachPlusFive I have extremely high wall in my home with lots of windows. (Open floor plan with loft) Because of all the windows you see the dust that collects on the walls high above. My dad was a truck driver & knowing how I am about my house being clean, he bought me one of those squeegees like you see at a gas station. There’s one big difference, the one my dad bought me is used for semi’s & not just for the windows. They actually use them to clean the entire outside of the company trucks! It has several controllable extended lengths to it. I start at the top of my walls using the sponge side, which has a cloth mesh, just like the gas station type, scrub the wall & then flip it to use the squeegee side to remove any excess water downward. I shorten the extension, scrub with that water & keep working my way down. Repeat. When I get to my floor boards, I wipe the very little excess water up & while I’m there I take a dryer sheet to clean the floor boards. My walls are sparkling clean!…. Also, for those of you that don’t have walls like mine & use the paint roller, they sell a plastic tool in the paint department to remove excess paint from your roller. You don’t have to use your hands to squeeze the water out, just use the tool.

My Swiffer is my very favorite cleaning tool. You can remove one or two of the links to adjust the reach of the pole- you can also add a link or two from a second swiffer in case you need XTRA reach… The swiffer pads (that I think are really expensive)… become much more cost effective if you rinse and re-use each one, I find I can usually get 2-3 uses per sheet but then the tuck-in corners begin to break down and rip… HOWEVER… I actually dont really have much love for the cleaning solution that comes on them. It’s pretty good for walls, ceilings, cabinet and drawer faces, and baseboards… sorta… and DOORS… like bedroom doors, closet doors… But whether or not Swiffer pads are available… it’s STILL my grime-fighting sidekick, second to none…. …because it has multiple personalities…. As long as I have a thin enough cleaning interface that wraps snugly around each edge and only overlaps once per corner (but can be poked down into the swiffer pad hole-ders… the fabric, the surface, and the right cleaning solution make for a super-swiffer-clean-sweep through most of the house. I just make sure I rinse the foam and plastic pad platform well before moving from one type of cleaning surface or solution to another- any time I need to change up the type of fabric or solution, it’s rinsed and I always save the floor for last. My swiffer slays grime from the ceiling to the floor, walls and doors, counters, cabinets, fridge (still requires immediate dry-towel finish moves), appliance faces, even my windows, sliding glass doors, and mirrors. (The last two things I only ever use rubbing alcohol to clean, nothing else). Even rinsing and swapping out various cottons and microfibers and dry dish towels, etc… I can clean my place fresh, shiny, and spotless from top to literal bottom I’m about an hour… two-three TOPS if I need to swiffer the shower walls and then sponge the bath tub and brush the commode… and vacuum, shampoo the carpet in the living room and freshen up the upholstery… and you know there is never NOT a time that dishes and laundry need done… but seriously… it can ALL be done in less time than it takes me to do my own acrylic nails… by like HALF….

I like to use scrub free bathroom cleaner for my bathroom and kitchen sink. I have always been a bleach user but with covid this was the only cleaner on the shelf one day. It has a lemon scent which I normally don't like I like the bleach clean scent when cleaning. This does so well with shower scum and not actually having to use a lot of elbow grease. In my kitchen I have brass drains and it cleans them to a bright shine without any scrubbing. Works good with hard water stains, definitely recommend trying it if you are not satisfied with your cleaners.

Just spray bleach on inside of shower corners wait 15 mins and rinse with hot water . CLR is for rust , if you have glass sliding doors spray bleach bottom outside corners wait 5 mins wipe with paper towel, also after spray Lysol on outside corners & inside it will prevent pink slime that build up . ..

Toilet bowl cleaner ( i use the scrubbing bubble one) and paper towels work the best for me for shower mold in the cracks. Just pour it on the areas then top with paper towels. It prevents the toilet bowl cleaner from drying out while it sets, and also holds the cleaner in place. After about an hour you just rinse it off no scrubbing required. If it's major mold then you may need to scrub.

Let me tell you the absolute MOST MAGICAL shower cleaner you can possibly use. Equal parts of vinegar and blue Dawn (has to be blue) in a bowl, microwave for 1 minute. Put in a spray bottle and spray down your entire shower stall (and I mean saturate the walls and doors with it thickly). Leave it for at least an hour but don't let it completely dry. Go back and moisten it. Scrub with a Dollar tree broom dedicated ONLY to cleaning your shower. Rinse walls and doors down very well and I promise you it will take every bit of the soap scum and grossness away like MAGIC. I PROMISE this works! The smell is strong but it's definitely worth it to get a perfectly clean shower stall with almost NO elbow grease.

Okay, so the vinegar smell will go away. Obviously like any strong anything, ventilation is important. Once vinegar scent is gone, others stinks will be gone too. N by far, it’s the best for taking smells out. I like doing half water, half vinegar, spray bottle n spray directly on surfaces. Again, ventilation, and a few minutes for vinegar scent to be gone. My feet stink with no socks, i put my toms in vinegar water and let them dry. No stinky feet.

I have always known not to wet a vacuum filter, but I went ahead and got info from google for y'all. Never do that! Here's why: "If you own a bagless vacuum, do not put a wet filter back in the machine. This will hurt the motor, but even worse, it can cause mold to grow. A warm, damp, dirty place is the perfect combination to grow mold. Then when you turn the vacuum on it blows the mold around your house.". So, yeah, the whole febreeze on the vacuum filter is not a good idea. I use the scent beads and just load them in there, then when you vacuum, the scent beads smell better than the typical dog smell that comes from my vacuum. Just an FYI.

I have the same problem with my shower doors, they are so hard to keep clean! CLR works great, the kind in the jug not the spray bottle. I pour it full strength on the tracks and scrub with a toothbrush maybe 10 minutes later. It helps tremendously! As far as the black in the corners is that behind caulk? The issue with mine is that there is clear caulk/sealant there and over time it gets caught underneath and needs to be replaced.
