TikTok similar to Instagram and facebook in the past are filled with bot accounts to sell Likes, views and share. Their stats are all hugely artificial inflated. Because most videos on there can be on loop and autoplay, there are many "Like" factories in China and other SEA countries, they have mutiple phones on and running TikTok videos 24/7. Facebook/Instagram/TikTok doesn't care to verify those views and Likes, because it helps them generate insane stats to show advertisers to advertise on their platform. KZbin on the other hand have complex algorithm to verify views and Likes to detect bots, like rewatching videos immediately and looping doesn't generate more than 1 view. Yes youtube have bots but the bot issue are not serious and they get removed often. TL;DR KZbin and Google views count are cleaner, while TikTok views count are inflated due to bots because there is a market for "Likes".

Tiktok content has been bleeding into every other social media. So i can see why it has become so famous, especially its basically the most trendy social media right now, especially for the teens, even kids and young adults as well. Theres so much content on there that people scroll through tiktok on hours and most tiktok videos are quite short, usually a few seconds, people can view them in between doing something else rather than watching a 10min youtube video or watching hours long stream on twitch. Also, alot of internet trends comes from tiktok as well. Personally, not a big fan of tiktok since most of the videos there are kinda dumb(in my opinion). But its understandable why it has become this famous and im happy for the content creator n viewers that ate happy there.

Dear lord ._. I guess this also has to do with children being allowed on technology as actual babies? Parents would probably rather them burn in tik tok over google's abyss

Tiktok has been designed to be addicting. It is the most impressive piece of engineering in software. The UI is so simple that babies can use it and the AI literally tailors your feed within a few vids to optomize watch time. Whether you're provoked or enjoying the video, it doesn't matter. It will fight to keep you on. Giving you even information that you were about to Google. It is absolutely insane. This is the most dangerous piece of technology too in that sense. Young people will be surrounded by their immediate interests but never grow beyond that. Their humor never develops. Their morals never develop. It is scary.

@@frozenduck74 Its not as bad as Tiktok. KZbin have stuff like podcasts, documentaries and video essays that are way longer and needs to have a longer attention span to consume them fully and in a way that its technically better than Tiktok since the its shorter 10 - 15 seconds of content will more likely reduce the attention span of the consumer since these video don't require long periods of attention. Its making a whole generation more hungry for junk food like content and just consume it purely for entertainment and not learning and self improvement.

@@ChiyomiAnchovyAnzai I’d say there are lots of videos on Tik Tok that teach you stuff.
@ChiyomiAnchovyAnzai3 жыл бұрын
@@frozenduck74 Im not denying it doesn't but the video length is the important aspect of it. Longer videos tend to have more cohesive and detailed information compared to short videos and even if you say that a couple of short videos you get from Tiktok helped you alot more there's still the attention span problem that I mentioned.

This also speaks for the attention span and brain fragmentation of humans now. Joey, don't do it. Don't start a TikTok. You will be further corrupting data files in the human brain. Memories, gone. 7:00 i do agree that some iconic to mid tier tiktok gets reposted on yt/other socmed, but that takes a while and people just get FOMO even for a few days. everyone just wants to be early and say they're "first" 🤷🏻♀️ but since most of the things that requires being early are product related that might get sold out when it's viral, and i live in a place where i can't buy those stuff anyway (without at least costing me an arm and a leg), tiktok has still not warrant a reason to take up my limited phone memory space 🙃
@flutterwind76863 жыл бұрын
I despise TikTok and frankly find it a pointless app. All other social media services do it better, and we don't get lazy boring dances to lame remixes, which is 95% of all that happens. The 1% of actually interesting skits / other or something are done better on any other service.. The "fashion" is just rehashed gangsta rap and 80s rock cliches, wannabe punk apparel and the overpriced Apple-Supreme brand shit. Why it got popular in the first place is beyond me. Not like I'll use it anyway, call me a young boomer IDGAF.

You're not the only one, I look forward to the precipitous drop in usership once TikTok isn't 'new and cool' anymore. After all, Facebook used to be 'new and cool' back in the days when they were a college-only site for cool kids, now look at them.

For the record, I'd rate RNZ to be one of, if not *the* most reputable source in NZ. It's a publicly funded crown entity (like an independent branch of the government essentially), so it doesn't engage in for-profit click-bait and trashy articles that lack editing like some of the other news media. It's usually pretty objective without any noticeable political leaning too. Given New Zealand's low rate of corruption, I'd say that makes it a hell of a lot more trustworthy than corporate owned media outlets.
