Makes sense. And I guess same goes for many other countries. Years ago someone told me "For living, I prefer Europe, but for visiting, I prefer the US", meaning that she preferred Europe for long-term living because of its safety and social security, while for vacation and visiting a foreign country she would prefer US, because that was more occasional and temporary. She would not prefer living in US on long-term basis. So I guess your saying goes for many places and countries.

Being Japanese, I can confirm having a vacation and Japan and living in Japan are two different things. (People who visit are more likely to have money) But in case you're American, I can tell you Japan has affordable compulsory health insurance.
@JonathanAlmgren

I guess you can say the same about life in the USA. If you are low income it's very miserable and healthcare is the most expensive in the world. I know you are over worked in Japan probably more than some people in the USA but many people in the USA also have to have two jobs to get by so there are some similarities but in some ways I think you are better in Japan, In all honesty I'd love to live there if I could.

As a person that has relatives in japan and visits it every two years during summer break, here’s some things that are different from America: - vending machines in lots of public places, including next to my grandma’s house - weather is pretty cool, and has nice wind - it feels way better to take a walk there compared to how it is in Texas. - lots of trains. - really sanitary. - food has a lot more variety - tables have a chance to be lower than normal, so you have to sit on your knees sometimes - you can learn how to cook and clean in school - drinks are obviously different (I can remember drinking grape flavored ramune) And that’s about all I can remember at the moment.

1:15 this is extremely false. After living in Tokyo for the past 3 years, you rarely ever do this stuff. Places like 秋葉原 (あきはばら), or Akihabara are mainly used as tourist attractions. Don’t get me wrong, once and a while you will do this stuff while living there, but it’s no where even close to often. In fact, working in Japan is extremely stressful for most, as you don’t get many days off, and your colleagues constantly rely on you to work together. Most foreigners who move to Japan to live there usually move back after maybe 2 years because they realize it’s just too much for them.

It's almost like being in a bunk bed and you in the bottom bunk but it's all closed up. It's actually cozy. Plus there's diff types even sideways ones like the ones in rvs types things so that may not be as closed in and even walk in one that's just a bed. I stayed in japan too in a capsule like on the vid and a a second time in hotel room that was just a bed with a door (you could walk in) had a window and all in what you taught was the closet was a micro wetbath bathroom. But it was still like a capsule. They are becoming more popular here especially at the airport hope you check them out when ever things go back to normal 🙂.

Well if you want to live their apply for an English teaching job the pay is terrible but if you want to go their for a short time apply for English companies. Search up the JET program they pay the most but you’ll have to apply next year since the deadline passed. If you want an okay pay then search up Interac they’re hiring right now. You’ll need a BA or BS of any major though since immigration asks for that. Keep in mind though the Japanese working culture is way different than the States so don’t be surprised when life isn’t like in anime or movies.

Japan (specifically Tokyo since that’s the only city I’ve visited so far) is everything you’d imagine and more. I first visited 3 years ago and have used every vacay opportunity I’ve had from work to go. I’ve been there now six times and I don’t see how anyone can ever get tired of that city. The city is bustling, the people are respectful, the service is impeccable and it’s a very safe city with amazing public transportation as you’d imagine. If it’s on your list of places to go, don’t hesitate like I did. I went to Seoul first and although great, there’s no comparison. Hands down my favorite city outside of the U.S., and my second favorite city overall imo.

What's it like for Black people in Japan? These type of videos/touristy ads never seem to have people of color in it. So Black people tend to think stuff like this, is not geared towards their demographic. This is why we tend to go to more exotic countries instead. Because we feel we'd be more welcomed there. 😊

Not to be rude or anything. Do their ads need to have people of color in it? This is Japan, it’s not like in America were there’s many different cultures/races in one country. So if you’re going to any Asian countries, you’re probably going to be stared or even glared at just because you’re a foreigner. White or Black. Big Cities/Main tourists attractions are okay, people tend to be used to seeing foreigners. Rural areas/country side is a bit different, some people tend to shy away but most Japanese are nice and polite. So I’m sure you wont have a problem if you visit.

@@TheStonedEvo I'm not trying to ridicule, I'm being realistic, having actually lived there for a few years I learned a lot of how most things they show you are just a facade. What bad things do I want people to know? Let's talk about an all high social pressure, sky high depression among young adults and a very high suicide rate. Let's talk about how Japan is effectively is killing off whale, shark and dolphin and other fish and marine mammal populations DESPITE mass threats of mass extinction and the collapse of a WHOLE eco system. Yes Japan is a world leader in tech and there are lots of things other countries can learn from Japan, but let's not stick our heads in the sand or be blinded by the colorful light displays and vending machines where you can get unique flavors of Fanta with Pikachu's on them.

LOL, no. I've been to Japan, and there are many hotels and countryside too. Capsule hotels are for people who literally only want to be in their hotel for sleeping and personal hygiene. They don't expect you to be there all day. And it's for people traveling on a budget. She forgot to mention that a capsule hotel can cost from $8-20 per night. And before people go on by saying "that because it's Americans money." our money is not actually worth that much more there, only about a few cents actually. This is just showing how innovative japan is.
