The saddest part about all of this is the fact that he doesn’t see a single issue with any of his actions. Constantly breaking into the house, the physical abuse, the drug use, in his head it’s all because of Anna. In his head, if she would have just done exactly what he said none of this would have happened. He is a textbook narcissist. He realized he lost control of his favorite victim and he could not let that happen. It wasn’t about love or fixing his family, it was purely about the control. Even this trial is about control. He knows he’s guilty, but if he would have just plead out it would mean (in his head) that he’s admitting defeat, and he isn’t capable of that. This trial is his last opportunity to fully control this situation. It doesn’t matter who this trial hurts or how ridiculous he looks, he wanted the trial to prolong the control he believes he has over this case, over Anna and her family. This is what makes him so dangerous, and for him there is no chance at rehabilitation. He needs to be locked away forever not just as a punishment for what he did but because he is a genuine danger to the public. If he ever gets out he WILL do this again.

If I'm not mistaken she wanted a divorce and didn't want to be with him anymore because he was controlling and abusive. They were separated so she wasn't cheating she wanted to get away from him. He felt like he owned her but repeatedly called her names and monitored her every move. This kind of controlling behavior is typical in middle eastern culture and stems from controlling parents and a strict upbringing. Adding that with drugs turned the guy into a monster.

I think he did this only to get the lesser charge based on passion and not premeditated. I don't think there was any other way to get a jury to not think premeditated without this testimony.
