Regarding the “no filter look” of old Hollywood films: they put pantyhose over the cameras. Yes they did in fact use filters. Don’t let anyone tell you they couldn’t alter studio head shots either. They shot stills on large or medium format film and you can manipulate the snot out of those negatives before creating prints. It’s ALWAYS been smoke and mirrors folks

Honestly, that nightmare-on-a-stick is probably more "sanitary" than most people's makeup brushes - brushes are perfect breeding grounds for mold, mildew and bacteria. When you wash them, moisture gets into the ferule and many people lay their brushes rather than hang them inverted. The dense bristles hold the water and oxygen and light can't get in. Ironically, washing is what introduces the most potential for ickies, mildew esp. 🦠🚫 🤢 Her "brush" is still atrocious and filthy and I wouldn't let it near my face BUT it is not porous, the hairspray dries fast, and I doubt hairspray is ideal for most germs and whatnot to flourish. **NOT saying your brushes are bad or gross, bacteria is everywhere and you can avoid mold/mildew with proper care. Just being the devil's advocate here (and her "brush" is definitely the work of the devil.) The only harm it will likely cause anyone is psychological 😬 And it's also obviously cursed sooo...

DO NOT RUN A CLOTHES DRYER EMPTY ON HOT. it will just further dry any lint anywhere in the system, build up static, and create a fire hazard.
@stephgreen3070
@stephgreen3070 2 ай бұрын
Yes! And considering how lax a LOT of apartment buildings and homeowners are about cleaning out their vents, that is asking for a fire! And let me tell you, when lint catches in a dryer vent, it goes up IMMEDIATELY. Our neighbor lost her house in a matter of minutes due to a dryer lint fire. Her house was fine, and in about 10-11 minutes it was half burned up. We do vent cleaning as a small part of our cleaning business and you would not believe how much lint is in many of the apartment buildings especially, but also people’s homes. It’s terrifying. Really. It’s amazing more apartments don’t burn down with the amount of lint in dryer vents we see regularly. And, at least around here, it’s not something apartment management schedules on a regular basis. It’s only when people start to complain that their dryers aren’t drying that they call us and we find POUNDS of lint in each vent. I am very passionate about this topic, obviously lol. It’s such a preventable tragedy. Just check your dryer vents for lint and clean them out! You can probably even do it yourself with a vac attachment or one of those extendable dusters.

it is just a terrible idea even without the fire hazzard (omg i did not know that, just started using a community drier in my dorm building and now i’m scared) running a full circle for 10 brushes when you have that many is so … wasteful for energy I was always told that a dryer takes a lot of energy running that thing for 30 for a few brushes is just … that thing she uses is so practical, i have a selfstanding rag for my brushes so they can dry head side down but that is always in the way just put it on a mirror and wait 2 days, whats her problem

@@laurafaehnrich4261 in my professional opinion (electronics engineer), you should be okay as long as you clean the lint trap before every use, do not put anything soiled with flammable materials like gasoline directly into the dryer, use the lowest possible heat setting for whatever you’re drying, and adjust for the load size if your dryer has that option. if they’re communal dryers, i can’t speak to how well they’re being maintained, but usually the building has a service contract with someone who comes and cleans the ducts regularly. if you’ve lived there several months and dryer fires are a recurring issue, it may be worth investing in a drying rack. i like the wooden and metal one from the target in-house brand, because it feels stronger than the welds of the traditional wire ones. edit: also i would suggest avoiding putting shoes in the dryer unless the manufacturer specifically advertises it

I've noticed a rising trend against concealer or foundation because it "makes me look dead" or something similar. Which I find really funny because that's what happens when you use a full coverage product. That's why we have all the shaping products now; the 2016 full coverage trend changed makeup as an industry forever. 95% of the youngsters saying they don't like how concealer looks on them just need a lighter coverage product instead.

I have lots of purple around my eyes, so I used to just use a color corrector, but then I found my nyx concealer, and it looks so much better than any color corrector. agreed. i think it would look way better if she did a little light concealer underneath her eye and just put dark concealer or contour or bronzer whatever it was on her eyelid. get the best of both. because i don’t think the brown undereye works or looks good. personally (i have fair skin like her) i use a peach color corrector on my eye area, a little light concealer underneath my eye, set with translucent powder, and then put a little bronzer and medium brown contour powder on my eyelid as an eyeshadow to bring back some dimension. and then i use a little brush to put the same brown powder on my waterline which adds some dimension back underneath my eye so it’s not too bright and also isn’t dark and tired looking. i think that would be the perfect balance for her and i think it just looks good, i get compliments on my eye makeup pretty often. pretty simple and neutral

What she said about her eyes looking bigger tracks for me-i don't mind leaving the purplish skin under and around my eyes because they make the "eye" area look larger overall, like an eyeshadow would. If you don't regularly wear concealer, it can look jarring to suddenly have very bright skin coming right up under your eye. i think it's one of those subjective things where people who consider it a makeup fundamental are literally seeing something different from people who don't wear it. For instance, i _don't_ think she looks younger on the light side, I just think she looks more carefully made up, whereas the slight shadow of the brown side reads less like makeup and more like natural dimension, which makes her eye and the apple of her cheek come forward. (All that said I'm sure she's got a serious filter on so it's hard to know how the two would play out on textured skin irl)

Dude, regardless of the glue melting or not, it's such a fire hazard to put your brushes in a dryer. Synthetic fibers, the metal ferrule, wood, paint... Obviously this person has had no problems, and newer models will likely be fine, but those materials have not been tested under those conditions. Dryers can catch on fire just with normal laundry. I'd rather wait a few more hours than potentially burn down my whole house.

I feel that, coupled with shadow primer before applying shadow, it just locks it in for all day and nigh, much longer than my setting sprays. It's the opposite of what I learned (like you mentioned, it's supposed to be for the emollient shadows) but it works for me somehow. It's possible I have a certain set of specific circumstances where it just works out better? Maybe the eyeshadow primer makes it "wet" in need of of powder after, maybe I just never used enough setting spray in the first place There also a good chance thet the fact that the setting powders I use are cheaper and last longer are making me believe they're better 😂

You know what I do to dry my brushes after I wash them? I wash them before going to bed and then put them in the airing cupboard overnight. They’re bone dry by morning.

For my brushes, I bought one of those spinny things to clean brushes. I don't use it to clean my brushes, I use it to spin out excess water. Put a netting over them and they are ready in a couple hours, or the next time I need them. Mine is rechargeable bc batteries are the devils spawn.

on the eyeshadow baking - this can work the reverse way too!! Blending over dewy or tacky bases kinda sucks. I have oily eyelids but I don't like the texture of blending over a tacky base. so I will put on my eyeshadow primer, then set the entire lid with my face powder. extra bonus - I add some of my bronzer in my crease to help tie in the undertones of my entire makeup look. I then put my eyeshadow over that base and it blends like a dream

It’s hardly any, and you can just use a mascara comb. If your powder is finely spun and not like… talc, it’s really a non-issue. I do this for stage makeup with my everyday mascara and I’ve never had issues with powder in my mascara or clumpy lashes.

You’re right about baking back in the day was necessary bc of formulas. Also the studio lights gave off a lot of heat which melted the makeup as well. Now a lot more lighting is low heat emitting or led. I do agree the shadow looked beautiful though especially the sparkles!

During C--d I replaced all of my makeup brushes and began to buy better brushes than I previously owned. I discovered that better brushes give me a much better quality application on both face and eyes. My brushes are an investment and I want them to last as long as possible. I have several Fude brushes (Chikuhodo, Koyudo, Makiko), Sonia G, Rephr, Sigma, and BK. They all are HAND WASHED weekly and AIR DRIED brush side tipping down. Most of them are 4-5 years old and look brand new.. I won’t be using a clothes dryer anytime soon.

for ice cream, that's because the way it gets frozen originally means it has lots of bubbles mixed in, making it light and fluffy. without that, its just a solid brick of sugary cream

quick note about the dryer video: i believe the comment about high heat meant that the key to /killing bacteria, mold and mildew/ is high heat. that would be a correct statement. the thing is that you need at least, at MINIMUM! 60°C to start killing bacteria, and i believe dryers don't go that high? they're already a fire hazard as is. it would also ruin the brushes 😭 all in all, not a great hack. love your videos robert 💗

Love the eye look Robert!💞😻 I'm rather insane when it comes to sanitising my makeup. I have 91% Isopropyl Alcohol in a fine mist bottle I spray on my shadows, blushers, and powder products(from a few inches away) after every use, wipe the compact exteriors and bag them, use a colour switch and then alcohol mist my shadow brush and blush brush every use, and deep clean them if I use them several days in a row, and use spoolies for brow/lash products that get cleaned after every use. I have several containers of powder puffs and foundation puffs, and wash them daily, one is always drying while I'm using a fresh one(they're cheap enough to justify having a rotation of these). My kohl eyeliners get heat treated after every use, and don't go on the waterline(mainly because my eyes don't tolerate it). If I wear lipstick, those get wiped down and heat treated too. My Mother taught me to clean and sanitise makeup snrd tools this way from an early age, and my late brother once put samples of our makeup in Petri dishes to see how ours compared to girls in his microbiology class...we didn't fail them. I'm actually cleaning my makeup tools while watching these. She also saved her old mascara wands, washed them, and they became her spoolies. That hairspray crusted brush made my skin crawl.
