They do stuff like block roads and destroy gardens for two reasons: 1 - It gets them personal attention (the reason for 90% of modern progressive activism). 2 - Wealthy people are paying them to do it.

Funny thing is, when environmentalist block streets and inconvenience the drivers, they're actually harming the environment more, because cars burn less fuel the faster they move, so all those cars being forced to move at a snail's pace are actually burning through more fuel and creating more pollution

Oh so it's like that? That's how it is? This is how it is? The present situation as you have described is accurately described as the most probable interpretation of the words you chose in the manner in which you placed the aforementioned words? Okay I'm cool with that. Perfectly reasonable.

Could we gather everyone that does counter-effectual, disruptive protests, and put them on an island? We could make an up-front investment of raw materials to build a working society. Then they can show us how it’s done.

"They actually got away with it" says the person behind the camera doing nothing to help. Yes, they got away with it because no one will stop them, they'll just complain when a store decides to leave instead of losing more money, and then they'll complain that there are no stores around.
