Perhaps Chad Chad isn't technically a zoomer in the strictest sense, but she is clearly culturally zooming. This video fascinated me as a good example of the degeneration of drama/phenomenon summary content.

"If you make a joke that only 50% of the population..." Blah blah blah I hate this argument and I keep seeing it around, "games shouldn't be difficult so everyone can play them", "comedy should be safe for everyone", "anime should appeal more to western views" I had a long spiel about this ready to go, but I'll use chadchad's own example: If you made a butter that appealed mainly to lactose intolerant people, you are missing out on the majority of the butter market. So don't make fake butter for the lactose intolerant. Very inclusive.

Yeah dildo really discriminate against half of the population. Why do they even exist. I mean it's technically usable by everyone, but doesn't have universal appeal. Then again warhammer figures also can be used anyone, but only like 5% of the male population cares. And both are made of plastic. There must be some grander metaphysical thing that gives one more market prominence over the other. Can't be sex appeal, because space marines brick everyone up. Truly a mystery of our era.

You can even apply it to themes. A horror story channel should diversify and cover romance too or is alienating people that think the channel is too spooky. Or her channel, which audience is probably composed mostly of women, should try to appeal to men somehow to make it even. According to her is the right thing to do.

yeah, it's a really dumb idea she wouldn't apply in any other scenario it's just a fact of life that things have specific audiences: if something's fit for absolutely everyone, it's probably so generic / vague that it's also just trash for everyone like, it's pretty obvious a kid won't understand jokes about the workplace (meant for adults) or babbling about illnesses and idk medical loop hell or experiences in the elderly home (for seniors) or that certain jokes about school (not from a nostalgic perspective, but rather "teachers are stupid, they give too much homework and everyone vapes in the school restroom") will only appeal to school-aged kids it applies to everything, like, vim / Emacs (advanced and highly expendable / customizable text editors chiefly for programmers) won't appeal to office workers or people who just want to write a resume and MS Word or LibreOffice Writer won't appeal to programmers - duh, there are niches, different needs; if you try to appeal to everyone, you end up with the basic Windows Notepad (idk maybe they added features over the years, I haven't used Windows for a long time, I'm thinking of the WinXP version) which isn't good for anyone (ok, it's fine for very basic plaintext editing like editing a text file or even writing an essay in plaintext or Markdown, but even then I'd prefer to have vim, Emacs or even Notepad++ or whatever's the plaintext editor of choice for Windows users) especially humor has to appeal to personal experiences and such: if you want to make humor for absolutely everyone, you can only refer to the shared basic human experience which applies to everyone - it's extremely limiting and it's just pure hypocrisy cos I'm sure she'd defend things, especially humor, that are made specifically for women (or AFAB people if we appeal to physiology and such, I mean: I won't understand periods, I don't really have a use for a tampon / pad), she'd probably go on and on about how I wouldn't get it cos it's "not made for me", "not everything has to be made for men" and that it's normal to target specifically women cos obviously they have different experiences, grew up differently, so different things appeal to them (I even have personal experiences where women argued this, like I signed up for a "Dutch chick lit" class (optional within the Dutch Studies course / programme) in college and obviously it was weird cos I'm a guy and the entire class was women (well, it's dumb, cos I'm also not Dutch, it's kinda the point of college to learn and if you can study a different culture, you can also study a different gender etc. it's really not weird, but there was tension, my motives were questioned by dumbass midwits (you'd probably say it was simping or something, but it was more of a "forbidden fruit" thing and also I was just curious and other options were even worse)) cos it's obviously meant to appeal to them (and, hell, it's not a hard rule, me being an example, but it still works as a general rule) + I had a female therapist who very strongly argued that skirts and cutesy clothing appealing to women is a purely biological thing (she thought I was going against the biology by wearing skirts as a guy 😂 nah, it's just social norms: I'm sure plenty of guys would like to wear skirts right now but they don't do it purely out of fear and even more would if such clothing was pushed to them since birth and socially acceptable like with women) rather than just a random social norm, a leftover from the history (really ridiculous, that therapist was fucked up in many ways: I think even the worst transphobes / TERFs / biological essentialists / conservatives would generally agree that gendered clothing (the precise clothes assigned to each gender cos the concept of separation of clothing by gender would be more controversial; I mean purely "boys come out of the womb with immediate strong hatred towards skirts, the color pink, cutesy accessories etc.") is purely a social / cultural thing, not biological (they'd probably still argue for maintaining the separation and the status quo fashion (or just the most general rules like "skirts are only for women"), but that's a separate subject) - she was truly something else 😂) tl;dr: if you try to appeal to everyone, you don't appeal to anyone - especially humor is based in shared experiences, so the more obscure / specialistic it is, the better

@@M4Dbrat This idea women who go against progressive ideals are brainwashed women is in everything. Nothing is innately interesting to women it must be conditioned. Fifty shades and Twilight were slammed for promoting bad relationships to women under the assumption those books weren't covering something they were already primed to enjoy. Never stopped to think who wrote them and for who. It wasn't men, men have the hub, it wasn't publishers and advertising agencies that wouldn't account for the historic numbers if it was behavior they're trying to instill currently, it'd do much smaller numbers. I don't like doing the "i'm a better feminist" thing but legitimately by just being ok that women are into these fantasies that aren't the most wholesome things and not shaming them I am the better feminist by principle of not shaming women for what they like and enjoy.

It amazes me how shallow the vocabulary of woke cultists is, like they all use the same exact words and phrases all the time, even when the words or phrases in question aren't directly tied to the Progressive ideology. For example, they ALL adopt trendy lingo created by young African Americans like adding "AF" to stuff or saying "On God" and whatnot, they ALL make abundant use of the term "problematic" to specifically denote political unorthodoxy, they ALL call anyone to the right of Theodor Adorno "far right", they ALL define "capitalism" in the most vague terms possible to include the primordial inequity of nature as somehow being a product of it, they ALL obsessively fixate on "fascism" and "Nazis" while having no clue what either group of Third Positionists (not right wingers, their approach to politics was syncretic) actually believed and did, and they ALL tend to say "folks" instead of "people", which I think originally came about because of therians but most of them just repeat it without even thinking because it signals allegiance to the group. Any time they have the chance to use a preferred term from "woke" Newspeak, they will.

Women like her want comedy to be as bland and inoffensive as possible. You nailed it, if you try to please everybody, you'll please noone. She just fundamentally doesn't understand comedy, and probably art in general, on a very basic level. I find this truly bizarre, because the argument for "Matt Rife isn't very funny" isn't particularly hard to make, and it's ininitely easier to make than "Matt Rife's strategy is bad." Also, whatever you think of his jokes, the idea of praising his crowd work over his jokes is insane. Crowd work generally, and his in particular, is so hack. If anything, the best criticism of him is that he's succeeded so much on the back of his hacky crowd work.

Anyone else notice how these idiots always pick the most asinine interpretation of someone's statement upon deciding they don't like them? The essence of this woman's video is to force the interpretation that Rife is not joking but is instead being completely sincere. He doesn't think DV is wrong, but just inherently funny like fart sounds. It doesn't matter if that interpretation is completely out of touch with reality. It doesn't matter that the straightforward interpretation is the most plausible one. We have to rule out the prejudicial fact that he is literally a comedian and thus very likely making a joke, just to be sure we don't fumble this case and let this thought criminal go unpunished. The joke about 9/11 demonstrates that she knows that you are allowed to make light of tragedy for comedy. She's completely capable of understanding what is going on and deliberately choosing not to do so. It's like she is completely understands the dynamics of wrestling, but she still want to get the heel canceled, because her intuition tells her that behind the act is a truly depraved individual.

Maybe boomers/silent generation were right in pretending ADD/ADHD didn’t exist, lol.

I'm wondering if she says the same thing about female comedians that cater their comedy to women, which is most? My bet is she doesn't which is where the problems with her takes start. It's also weird when it's obvious she uses her looks to attract an audience. It's clear her audience is full of simps because of how hard they were praising her crap "stand up". At least he's self aware of it. I'm not going to claim he's a comedy great, but 99% aren't or they wouldn't be considered the greats. This entire thing was stupid which is why people came to his defense. Nobody could say why it was bad beyond DV isn't a joke. The first 9/11 joke was a couple of days later so pretending that's a forbidden topic today and she references 2016 for his jokes is also beyond lacking self awareness.

“It’s just strange to resent basically everything that got you to where you are” there’s many musicians and artists that start to hate the thing they got popular for even if that thing is still beloved. For example, Juice Wrld once stated in an interview that he hates his song “Lucid Dreams”, presumably because he performed it countless times and grew tired of it. Not to mention that he released many other songs that are well-revered, so thinking of him as “the Lucid Dreams rapper” was probably a tad bit belittling. Clinging to the one thing that made u successful/relevant is only a recipe for slowing down your momentum and potential.

Ok... I don't think this girl even knows what Comedy is. Like HOW it works and WHY people laugh. So humor is part relatability part unexpected surprise. Laughter happens when our paradigm leaps so to speak, and the unexpected is what is presented in contrast to the expected. By being relatable to an audience, a comedian can easily establish a paradigm with the audience making it easier to subvert the expectation and get a laugh. You can tell she doesn't understand this because she didn't make a single real joke the entire video.

10:10 "So many people get dark humor mixed up. Dark humor is when you make a funny joke about something unfortunate YOU have experienced. Not someone else's experience." 1. He DID experience the waitress with the black eye (in the context of the joke. Yes, i know it's made up.......OR IS IT?!?!) and then proceeded to joke with his friend. 2. Why does it have to be about YOU and your experience exactly?! Is she aware of the amount of comedy/humor/jokes SPECIFICALLY at the expense of others?! (Rhetorical question). Really bad example used by the OP considering just minutes before thay she used "jesters" as a prime example of comedy/humor. Edit: 12:05 but that's a good chunk of his comedy. At least from what I've seen. TBF though, I've never really watched the guy, just seen his viral clips and that's usually if someone else has a compilation or something. It's usually him interacting/reacting to the audiences/audience member. I've alaways thought that was part of his whole schtick. They're just giving him material lol.
