I'm actually disabled myself and it drives me up the bloody wall like nothing else on earth when I hear hypocrites being called out for their own foul behavior try to throw the words "Disabled Person" out and use them as a weaponized excuse for a complete lack of accountability and/or responsibility.... A$$HOLES!! The reason it boils my blood is that there are genuinely some situations in life that I struggle with eg:- trying to open heavy shop doors to exit while struggling to walk. It helps me a lot of some kind person who sees me struggling comes to help me by getting the door for me.... The more unaccountable brats whine and blame their toxic behavior on their disabilities and/or try to illicit a hateful response from others towards someone else who has quite a legitimate complaint to make by throwing the word "Disability" into an equation that has got LITERALLY NOTHING TO DO WITH IT AT ALL, in an extremely insidious, inauthentic and frankly evil manner - that leads people who may otherwise have been kind and helpful towards us when we genuinely need their assistance think "I'm not getting involved with that shyt...!!!" - and who can blame them, if THAT'S what their personal experiences of other disabled people has been...?!?! Being Disabled doesn't cause you to not have to be accountable and responsible for your own bad behavior towards others - only being a desperately sad assh0le causes that....!!! Also, I couldn't help but think that if she quit mixing "so much BLOOD, SWEAT AND TEARS" (MWAH MWAH - DRY YOUR EYES YOU SIMPLE WITCH...!!!) into 'her self made mixture' then perhaps "USPS 'S HUMIDITY" wouldn't be such a problem, y'know, since all three are needlessly added liquids....!!!! As someone who uses air dry clay, it only gets that way if you don't let it properly dry, so it most definitely is something she's doing wrong- I don't understand why she didn't just offer to make her a new one or at least give her a refund- that's what I would do if any of the clay stuff I've sent out ended up breaking like that 😭

Hey! Hardcore crafter here. That sort of thing is typically made with silicone "icing". It shouldn't do that. That's not cured long enough. at all. It could also be bad silicone. Also, that's a light switch plate. It is going to be touched so many times. It wouldn't have held up. I wonder if they used an airdry clay, and a mold? I would never use that for a high traffic item. Edit: Here's my working theory; someone said it says polymer clay on the website. I think she's mixing polymer clay with model magic to reduce cost and weight. Both clays are not a good idea for this sort of project. Edit 2: so, I've been conversing back and forth with other crafters on here, and I've got a new theory. Apparently, people make homemade decoden cream out of silicone and cornstarch. I'm think that's what she meant when she said she makes her own mixture. I'm learning so much from other crafters. I love Markie's community!!! Edit 3: i went to the seller's page. No, I wasn't mean. I just asked if she uses silicone. She says she does not.

Yeah, usually 'icing' on decoden products is made with caulking, which can be very durable! The price point and turn-around time feel like definite red flags. Decoden can be very time-consuming due to the fact that most caulking can take 48 hours to cure (though some types can take up to 12 days) when used for its intended purpose of covering gaps in a thin layer. As such, large 'icing' globs will obviously take a longer time to cure. This seller is churning out half-baked products on the cheap, likely knowing they won't last. edit: started typing something else and forgot to delete a word! oops!!

Some buyers had a problem where, if they burned the candle for over an hour, the jar would start cracking and sometimes even completely breaking. I immediately refunded every person who had this issue, AND also sent a replacement. Yes, the item left my house in good condition, the damages happened after the buyer received it. But imagine I blame the customer for an item breaking while it was doing what it’s supposed to do (the candle being lit) I figured there might have been something going on with my concrete mixture and spent a lot of time and money figuring out how to fix it. That’s how businesses work. Just because you’re a small business doesn’t mean you can’t be held accountable for your mistakes or your product being faulty.

If it's air dry clay, it shouldn't be messed up by humidity. Once it's fully cured, in my experience, you have to *soak* it, often for upwards of a *day* to get it back to working order. Also from experience these hand crafted decoden items are usually alot more expensive. I ordered a custom phone case that was ombre decoden, glow in the dark, glitter mix ins and had kawaii theme. It cost me around $130 from reputable IG company 4/5 years ago.
@MSANTHR0P314 күн бұрын
I think that's what i would use for that project, but I'm thinking that was air dry clay pressed into a mold, then glued on? That would explain the texture the customer showed and the flaking off in the other videos.

i also have a decoden phone case that i purchased several months ago. i've taken it off my phone multiple times and handle it all day, in a hot and humid climate no less, and i literally couldn't pry off the icing or the charms if i tried. when i purchased the case (not a custom, but roughly 3x what the lightswitch cover was sold for) it was explicitly outlined in the product description that there was a 10 day waiting period AFTER the product was made to order to allow time for curing, and the seller was transparent about what the frosting was made from and kept me posted on the process - she even sent me a video of her working on my phone case. it seems really obvious that this seller wasn't familiar with her materials or what supplies were needed for this sort of craft. this is absolutely not standard for decoden crafts.

Decoden is the form of art not the material used. It would be like saying "you made that out of decoupage?" Typically silicone caulking is used for these kind of things though there are 'speciality' materials that are extremely untrustworthy.

As a former small business owner, she's completely incorrect with USPS. As the sender and purchaser of the postage insurance, it's actually her responsibility to file a claim with USPS. They will just tell the buyer to contact the seller for a refund. And you absolutely do not need to bring the broken item to the post office. It's an online form. They will request a receipt or purchase order to prove the value of the goods and sometimes a photo of the damaged item. It's not processed at the local branch....

@cathylavorante687114 күн бұрын
@ That’s a good point. I don’t know if that is legal. When you think of it, she’s using a product she knows has issues so therefore she should take responsibility, instead she puts it on USPS or whoever to pay the refund and she still gets her profit. That is real shady if that’s what she is purposely doing. I really hope not.
@refinnej530214 күн бұрын
@@yummymummy1981there definitely are consumer protection laws when it comes to this type of scenario, but unless it's a high dollar item, most people won't take the time to report it to the appropriate agency. It's a contract. If the seller doesn't hold up their end of the contact, they have breached the contract and can't hide behind their no refund policy because they never adhered to the initial part of the contract. If the seller fulfilled their end of the contract by sending out the product agreed upon in the agreed upon (and expected, because no one expects to have a half cured product sent to them) condition and the buyer just doesn't like it, then the seller can stick to the no refund policy. If it's not a personalized piece, most sellers charge a restocking fee or a return ship fee that must be stated either in the listing or at some point prior to check out. I completely avoid any seller that says "no refunds" because it sets off red flags immediately and I don't want to deal with that headache except for digital content with people who have high ratings.

firstly i wanna say, i'm pretty sure anytime i've seen that kinda 'icing' look done, it's done with some kinda silicon product? i think? so it'd be pretty durable i imagine after set but it also, from how easily that just slid right off the switch plate, is either a) not set well or b) not actually even adhered to it? like someone just took a product, squeezed it on there and didn't use like.. any adhesive bc i don't think anything u just put on like icing is actually going to STICK like it would if an adhesive base were put down around the edge first.. everyone saying 'oh u broke it cos u handled it' like.. this is a LIGHT. SWITCH. COVER. do u know how much that's going to get HANDLED and BUMPED? like if no amount of pressure can be put on it at all, it shouldn't be sold bc it will break with the way it's been made and sent out. maybe if it actually WAS clay and hardened and glued on it would be durable, but it's definitely not in the state that it arrived in. also idk if the buyer unboxed that live or posted the video and THEN tried to get a refund but she prolly shouldn't have put out a video of her mushing it to a broken state bc i imagine if that was seen, then a refund wouldn't be happening. she should've stayed quiet, tried to get a refund and just say it arrived broken and then posted the video with thoughts and review. either way, still was only 12 dollars so not a huge amount lost but also will people pls stop buying off tiktok lol has no one learned yet that there's just quick buck grabbing people and not quality products to be obtained from tiktok. LOL 'if u go to my etsy i have 5 star reviews' ah yes u mean the 'full of bots' site that supports ai art and dropship grifters. yes yes very reputable. i also just looked up if air dry clay is affected by humidity and it does seem like if u do not seal ur air dry clay, it does become affected by elements. an easy fix that the seller could implement to keep their products from turning back to mush if they are in fact dried out all the way until hardened before shipping. but also, i think this kind of foresight should be researched when using materials to make products to be sent off to buyers. like as a good business practice it's probably best to try and think of every way a product could be damaged and ruined before it reaches a customer and come up with solutions to fix that BEFORE anything is sold. obviously, not everything can be troubleshooted beforehand but this.. was extremely easy to look up and even just searching 'is clay affected by shipping/weather elements when in shipment' isn't wildly out of the realm of what to think of when making quality sellable products. i don't see how USPS is to blame for this? like even if they were handling the products as USPS handles mail, that's.. a well known fact that USPS is going to be rough with packages and it's the SELLERS responsibility to package her products in a manner that will reduce the damage the products would sustain (in a box instead of a mailer, with bubble wrap or eco-friendly alt to keep product cushion and prevent it from being squashed) when being handled by mail workers. USPS is just doing their job. ?!?! THAT'S NOT HOW THAT WORKS LOL. IF USPS IS ABLE TO BREAK UR PRODUCTS SO EASILY, THAT'S A PACKAGING ISSUE, NOT A USPS ISSUE. SHE *IS* RESPONSIBLE FOR IT BC SHE'S NOT PACKAGING THEM CORRECTLY SO SHE'S BASICALLY SAYING 'u can't get a refund for damages anymore bc i didn't make sure this was going to be sent in tact via USPS so if it gets messed up for my poor shipment choices of my products, oh well.' like how is anyone supposed to know if SHE just sent a broken item (since it's falling apart in her videos) or if USPS damaged it? punishing the customers for her bad business practices is WILD. also, she does know people can just get charge backs as well right? i feel like barring people from getting refunds isn't going to prevent her from losing money, it's just going to make her business look worse for not trying to provide satisfying service to her customers. i feel bad for her if she like.. is genuine and wants to run a legit business but like u have GOT to have good customer service ALWAYS. i know it's exhausting to feel like many people are trying to take advantage but if she's not able to unbiasedly handle customer service she needs to get someone to help her with that. also she has GOT to do quality testing. put the products through rigorous tests to see how well they handle this that or the other. i've seen people who make car stickers and stickers for water bottles and cups put them through the dish washer for many washes or set them outside in weather for weeks to see how well they stand up to every day use of what that product is going to be used for to SHOW their customers, this is how this product is going to stand up. she needs to do the same. dry out the product, leave it in the sun, the rain, the humidity and see how it handles it. if it doesn't hold up. why not? solve why it's getting messed up if it's going to be traveling in the weather or could possible get wet when sitting in a mail box if it rains at a customers house. it's ur responsibility as an indie business person to ensure the quality of ur products. (and this is partly why i'm afraid to start a physical product shop bc who knows what can happen to products in transit and how to get things safely to customers. u can't have a business without people who can trust they're buying good products from u)

I think she's actually mixing it with a cheap polymer or clay and that's why she can claim that she's using her own mixture.. decoding is very tough and will keep up with a lot of wear and tear you have to remember they were originally put on people's cell phones as accessories for like whipped cream and things to keep their realistic shape.. people will also use ceiling or tile caulk because it has the same or similar consistency but it's a lot heavier
@salemwhite244614 күн бұрын
That makes total sense, I commented this before the bit where she claims it’s a custom mix but adding something to it would for sure not be good! Adding clay would definitely throw off any chemical reactions in either product that help it cure properly.

Its funny how avoidable a lot of this drama is. It just gets blown out of proportion but we was the audience sure get entertainment over it. Its funny watching people destroy their own businesses or stupid picky customers that dig their own graves attacking a good vendor (perhaps they are scammers or just an annoying customer, the kind that get kicked off an airplane for being rude and entitled).

That “business owner” is a literal professional victim. 🤦🏼♀️

16:29 but I feel like this isn’t fair for small businesses that actually need that. She is selling a product that she knows is water soluble. It can come into contact with water like I wonder if it even says like don’t put this in your bathroom or anywhere that’s humid. When you buy it because I doubt it does. Why can this woman not afford resin? I’m so confused as to why she is dead set on selling people something that is going to deteriorate.

Or caulk! That shit is cheap as hell AND durable!

Ive bought stuff like this before from other places and there is NO way it should be falling apart like that if it was made properly. Those kinds of things are super hard and if they're soft, it means it wasn't made properly. She keeps blaming usps but if it's happening more than once or twice, it's probably her fault.
@emmalouise980914 күн бұрын
even if it's humidity, which i don't believe at all, if it's happening repeatedly maybe stop using that product? durrrr

Lol, this video came across my for you page and my first thought when i saw ot was "oh, I bet this pops up on Markies channel in the next day or two" lol
@kassiedabs1314 күн бұрын
It would get destroyed from everyday use in a day .. especially if you got it for a kid. They should be checking to make sure they're completely dry before they are shipping their product out. Thats rediculous ** if its due to humidity and she knows this, She is still responsible for said product. She SHOULD be changing packaging or including humidity packs in with each order/box
@thisisanaussiegal3590Күн бұрын
It wasn't even semi-cured before being posted! No product that you would use to make something like that would react like that to humidity had it been fully cured at the time of postage! I cure anything I use (even benchtop clear) for a minimum of 3 days before adding more to the piece and if I send something, a minimum of 5 days curing before I even think of posting. Never had an issue and I live in Australia - where it's HOT and humid!
@ColdBrewBarbie14 күн бұрын
she did not make that mirror, you can buy it at home goods for $20, she just glued on the "cherries and cream" also as a small business owner it is 100% up to the seller to create a durable product, USPS is not responsible for humidity
@rruysch14 күн бұрын
1) she just added the cherries to that mirror 2) if its humid in her location (as she says) thats why her items aren't curing....

She needs to use a different material 💀 those kinds of things have been popular for years, used to be really big for phone cases. It’s not rocket science to choose a material that can survive shipping. I’m confused why she would formulate her own material when you can just buy one ready to use that is dialed in lol.
@Mortifiedbird14 күн бұрын
I imagine that she just took the cheap and already used route. Like a lot of these “small business owners “who are truly just people that don’t know what they’re doing. And then want people to just give them money because they deserve it I suppose. She’s delusional and a scammer.
@Mortifiedbird14 күн бұрын
Also, I just realized they don’t use the foam kind . I remember making my own phone case and because the foam was so easy to break. There was tutorials on how to use the gel kind so she didn’t even buy the right kind of caulk to even make a cell phone case.

idk why there's such a huge debate on whether or not she was being too tough on it. it's a light switch, so it would get touched a lot, and it would clearly not survive even being screwed into place on the wall.

Too many people have savior complexes. They have to stick up for the "little guys," "the oppressed," or whatever potential victim status they can cling to. They don't care how they infantilize whatever victim class they're white knighting for. "Poor wittle disabled female small business owner. She can't possibly make quality products that can withstand the use they're made for and treat her customers well because she's a disabled female small business owner." The rest are just being a holes to be a holes.
@iCOOKIEmischief14 күн бұрын
Her issue is that she's just slapping clay/spackle onto pre-made surfaces and not adhering it properly and letting it dry properly. It's not good materials for what she's trying to do.

"Oh no!! I'm so sorry to see your wallplate broke apart!! I take great pride in my creations, and have never encountered this issue before. I'm truly sorry that this has been your experience with my store, and I'm going to look into the batch your item came out of to see what might have gone wrong so this doesn't happen again; so I do thank you for bringing this to my attention!! While I am unable to process a refund, I will be getting a new plate sent out, (after making sure it's fully cured!) so that I can make this right. Once again, I am so sorry for this, but I will get you a new one sent out as quick as I can

Light switches need to be tough cause you are often hitting the switch in the dark or when your tired. You can't tell someone to be gentle with something as used by like a lightswitch and its cover. Its one thing if this was meant to be a wall decoration thats not in an area you will be touching over and over again. I think she really had the worse reaction to have for a 12 dollar product that broke when she touched the plate like you would when using it at home. In my opinion as a crafter and sells them online, she had many different options to settle this way better than she did
@mrs_maverick112114 күн бұрын
Yeah that wasn't cured properly at all... Definitely the businesses fault, I'm sure it was a mistake but Definitely should be refunded and replaced imo

5:50 Even more concerning than the quality/integrity of the product - this goes over an electrical outlet; meaning it is very close to open wires and electrical connections. Is that clay flammable?
@jaywan555314 күн бұрын
We used to play with this of clay lots when my kids were little. It takes a week to dry, more if it’s thicker. If you use cheap stuff it starts to crumble when dry. If it’s good quality, from a proper craft shop, it feels like plastic. In addition she needs to use super strength glue to glue it to the frame. So she’s using cheap clay, not letting it dry, and not glueing it to the frames with quality strength glue.
