Why can't we all go back to the 80's? I mean, let's bring the 80's back! The colours, the hairstyle, the MUSIC! Today's musical landscape is a lifeless desert comparable with the Moon. Looks like people have been creating so-called 'music' merely in order to function as a silence-breaker... Being born in 78, I was just a kid in the 80's. It was cool to be a kid back then, with He-Man action figures and all, but how I wish I had enjoyed the magical decade as a young adult, or at least as a teenager! If you guys have, consider yourself very privileged! As for Aimée Mann and 'Til Tuesday, I just can't stop listening to Voices Carry ever since I discovered it about a week ago. My God, the melody! The lyrics, the creativity! WE NEED THE 80's BACK!!

Who ever underrated this band? Either you loved them or were not exposed. Or had a subjective opinion which is fine. I sometimes read a comment claiming the Beatles or any particular member was "underrated". If that can be said about the most successful band in history it could be said about anyone and have the same complete lack of interpreting what "underrated" means. This band was HUGE in the 1980s. But not all huge bands have a stint at remaining huge for vast periods of time. The thing about this band is with a different production could most likely be as huge now as they were in the 80's. The 80's were a time where music was so mixed and it is still like that now. Difference is now a "band" are "artist" can become huge because they look the part. Back then you had to actually be a musician and artist as well.

Back in ‘85 I saw them playing at Woody’s Roadhouse in Massachusetts. It was late at night and you could tell they were exhausted from so many shows in a row. I believe this was their third one that day. I was able to stand front and center to the stage, five feet away from Aimee. As I was looking up at her it felt like a wonderful, surreal dream. She was every bit as beautiful and sweet as I had imagined. Voices Carry was their only hit but you could tell they were destined to be a force in music. Probably the best experience of my life 😍

@philliplandry413911 ай бұрын
There were many reasons why the song wasn't big. It has the same song title with Heart " What about Love" that came out almost around the same time. Plus the song and video was pretty dark and gritty for a mid 80's material. Had this came out around 1989 to 91, it probably would have charted even higher. It was just bad timing for the song including the music video.

@@philliplandry4139 Make sense... i've just discovered this band in 2024... and i think "what about love" is definately the best song of 'Til Tuesday... and was thinking... why this song is not the "best song"
@philliplandry41392 ай бұрын
@xaxaportilho I'd first found out about this band in 2001 when I saw their music video "Voices Carry" on VH1 retro. For me, this song really tops over Voices Carry because it doesn't sound like a particular song from a specific decade. What I mean is, it aged very well and still sounds fresh til this day. There were a lot of songs, whether or not they were popular, that they shouldn't come out or belong in the mid 80s. For example, Suzanne Vega "Luka". Yeah, it was a big hit in 1987, but it wasn't really popular until the early 90s and became an encore for the hipster generation in the late 2000s to early 2010s. Another one was "Momument" from the Sound in 1982. If you close your eyes, not guess who it was, and listen. You would think it came out in the mid to late 90s. A lot of people who are late Gen X and Millenials like to talk smack about the 80s and love every bit of the 90s. They don't realize 90% of the choreography of music and movies in the 90s were heavily influenced or started in the 80s.

It took me maybe three listens to the album before falling in love with it (in those days you listened to the album many times before you decided whether you liked it or not ... you gave the music a chance to grow on you.). The track that did it for me was 'David Denies', and that soaring chorus. I can remember clear as day sitting in my bed sit, studying and listening to this album.

the 80s best decade of my life and many others agree about how the decade was same for them. so much music diversity, all kinds of genres were popular at the same time. People were happier, nicer, jobs plentiful ...just a great decade

Aimee Mann is still a powerful musical artist. Caught her live show last year -- just wonderful.
To all out there, The 1980s was the best time in all history! It was a time of magic! A time where people lived in a greater peace we no longer have. A time when people cared for each other!

The only reason I knew this song and Voices Carry in the 80s was because MTV did a special on Til Tuesday, and I loved them instantly

Wow...one of the best songs from the album "Welcome Home" one of my all-time favourite records...Got it back in the '80s and play it nearly every day. Has anyone else got a record that they can't get through a day without playing?

Found this because huge fan Rush Time Stand Still. They chose Aimee after hearing this song and the guitarist really sounds like Alex Lifeson-in a great way.

In the 90s, I had a cassette tape with this song on it. It was some sort of "Best of 80s New Wave Volume ___" that my sister found at KMart. I listened to this song again and again and now it instantly transforms me to summer when 1997 when I was 16. ❤

It was a time when music was breaking away from the disco craze and made some memorable moments in music and some of the best videos!

I agree this song is very hypnotic. Aimee Mann's voice is incredible! I like this much better than "Voices Carry" Supringsly, I never heard of it until 2005. Shame it never got heavy rotation on FM.

always preferred it to voices carry. far more original and a mix of great pop and rock... til Tuesday shouldhave got the credit for the exceptional worksheet we're doing. much like concreteblonde they flew under the radar. some bands just don't get noticed fir their skills and talents in music. toto has a similar story they too were dismissed and journey was crowned 👑 that iconic band of the 80s. but personally I thought hold you back by Totowa far better than open arms by journey, Steven luthaker is an amazing songwriter, singer and guitarist but his band toto never got recognized for their diverse musical pallete maybe because they were session players first. keeping mind that toto still performs to record numbers and thats some 40 years later. I even saw them in 2017... just wow 👌 they still got it.... dawn I love the 80s!!!

I remember listening to this song on October 26, 1986 as I was pulling out of my childhood home's driveway (my father was driving me to the ARMY recruiter's station)... it was going to be my first day of "Basic Training"... and I was crying... reflecting on my childhood... as I was slowly becoming an adult! Sad, yet happy time... as the inevitable was becoming a reality! ( I always wanted to remain a child... even to this day... as I am a 53-year old male.) JOHN 3:16
