Great alternative to copper pipes and all the work that has to go into that type of installation. This pex tubing is much easier to work with and no soldering required.

PEX is the new copper! It's behind shower walls with no access all over the world now. Use it! Don't be afraid of it, it's got a better "blow-out" pressure rating than copper does. The fittings are incredible and they do not leak when installed correctly. Hope this helps. Eddie

Air hammers are usually installed at the faucet end, tubs, showers, washing machine, etc. They help with any trapped air inside the lines. Keeps the lines from moving or bumping because of air. I see them everywhere here in homes but was wondering if I really needed to install them. Thanks for any info.

Hey guys, love your videos! Do you happen to know any tricks to getting a brass/brass connection to stop leaking? I bought a moen shower valve and the hot & cold pex lines connect to the valve with a brass adaptor. But it's slowly leaking...and I taped it too. Not sure what to do.

Would love if you could explain the diverter used here and which model it is. I have seen some that will control 2 items and then you can operate both individually or both at same time. This setup here seams you would be able to operate 3 separately and I have not seen that capability anywhere.

Great video as I'm getting ready to replace all my piping behind the shower walls. One question. What's the best way to secure pex pipe to existing copper pipping? Plan on just cutting all the old copper out behind the wall and piggy backing off the old lines coming into the bathroom.

Hi Rich! You would use the "push-on" style PEX fittings instead of the "crimp ring" style. These push-on's are awesome for going from standard old copper to PEX cross-over's. Eddie

Dubrx 015 No...treat a rain shower head the same as any other shower head when plumbing it into position. No extra insulation is needed around this water line. Eddie

Keep the female drop-ear opening flush with the framing and screw a temporary 4" nipple into the female drop-ear so you know where to cut the opening in the drywall when you hang the drywall around the shower wall. Keep the temp in until you are finished painting the walls and then replace temp with the "real" shower head nipple assembly. Hope this helps. Eddie

Good video. I'm just curious why showers are plumbed from the tub side of the wall? I had to repair a relatives shower plumbing and I had to rip out the surround sectional to access the faucet. Why not make it so the hardware can be removed from the other side of the wall?

It depends on the plumber who did the installation and the bathroom design having either a left-hand or a right-hand drain location on the plan. Best way to setup the shower valve location is to have it situated on an interior wall where you can have an access panel on the opposite side of the wall from the next room or closet so you can simply open the panel up and replace or repair the valve. Question, so after you put the tile up on the walls and it's finished, if you have a problem in the future and need to get in their to fix a pipe, or replace the rough in, how do you do it? take the tile down? Because the way you mounted everything it seems it would be hard to try to fix if you broke through the wall in the back, since everything would be on the other side of the wood. That's what I'm dealing with right now. thanx!

I agree with the pex in , but there's to much restriction with 1/2" pex out of the valve . Ever looked at the inside diameter of a 1/2 pex fitting , not a lot of volume getting threw there . I'd go 3/4" pex out of the valve , or 1/2" copper imo . But I'm just an amateur

Copper is corrosive and in time will leak at it's weakest link. PEX on the other-hand is non-corrosive and will stand the test of time.

You know I did this once before & the problem on finish was after complete & the water was turned on, is then when I lifted the diverter on the tub spout, it continued to flow from the shower head & the spout as because the 1/2" pex rise to the shower head is actually a 3/8" inside dimension & without it's ability to flow freely, it's pressure made it come out both ends & I had to tear out all the concrete board & tile on that end that I'd already installed as for I was unable to get it from the back side. But I then installed a vertical 1/2" galvanized pipe with an elbow for the shower rise to the head. It then worked grate.

Great video guys! Maybe you can answer a question I have? I've heard that you should not run PEX from the valve to the tub spout. Is this so? Why? Plumbers say that the PEX has a bit smaller ID than copper and because of that, when you're running the tub, you'll get dripping from the shower. Apparently the valve can't pass the water to the tub as quickly as it wants and it backs up water to the shower head... I don't know. What do you say?

Hi Croy! Because the spout on the tub needs a "rigid" section of copper to mount to so it doesn't flop around on a section of very flexible PEX tubing. Eddie

So, you're video is one of the first that I found that didn't use copy between the diverter and spout. I would rather go all PEX but I'm concerned that the three number 12 screws that I would use to mount the 90's (shower and tub spouts) isn't going to be strong enough. Some people suggested I run a small pipe from the 90 and then strap it to the board but I'm wondering if that might be over engineering and unnecessary. Any thoughts?

You must have not have tightened these connection into the valve the entire way. These fittings do not leak if they are installed correctly. Even though you used Teflon tape, either you did not install your Teflon tape to the threads correctly or the fitting was not "tightened" into the valve well enough. Eddie

if using crimp rings I sometimes squeeze the ring a small bit before putting it on the pex pipe this keeps the ring from slipping in those hard to crimp places

Yep I know what you mean Steve. Sometimes it's a pain in the butt getting the ring exactly where you need it before you do the final crimp! Just giving a little pressure on the ring before the final crimp makes the ring "stick" to the PEX line slightly and makes it easy to get the ring into final position much easier.Thanks for stopping by our Bathroom remodel Channel! If pex was to freeze, say your furnace went out while on vacation or what ever.pex will expand five times its diameter and then when it thaws out it will go back to its original state, no leaks . Where as copper if it freezes when it thaws you're definitely in for leaks. O ya, and being a plumber, it a breeze to install, verses copper.

Hey Mike...Man that really depends on the valve model, they vary from manufacturer to manufacturer, we always follow the valves installation instructions on these units. The shower head we set the blocking so the drop-ear fitting is flush with the face of the 2" x 4" blocking. Eddie

We have a concrete slab and the plumbing comes up from the slab. Bummer. We need to move the water supply in the shower to enlarge it. Can we just abandon those and tap into the water for the sink? Or do you jack hammer into the slab to move the supply line?

+Bathroom Remodel Videos It does not make more pressure but will not restrict flow as much. With pex vs copper the pipe and fittings are actually a good bit smaller in diameter. You should go 3/4" to bathroom and tee off of that for appliances.
