I was legit in a coma from a ruptured brain aneurysm when you were in the process of building this house, and needed to play catch up quickly. So, I went to see my oncologist on the June 19th to go over my recent scans after having radiation in March, and MY CANCER IS GONE!!! I've been in chemo every other week since February 2021. PRAISE JESUS!!! My husband says I'm like a cat, with nine lives, LOL.

Always always: 1) Put recessed pan lights in each corner in all rooms, and a couple in a walk- in closet. I only have one pan light in my walk- in closet and wish I had two. 2) Under-cabinet lighting under all cabinets, no matter what room. We renovated our home and am SO glad we put plenty of pan lights and under cabinet lighting.

If it were me, I would not put a dishwasher in the utility room. It sounds like you have very few dishes in there to wash. I’d just put a soap scrubby thing and a drying pad or some towels and do them by hand and put them away immediately.

BTW , I do want to tell you I love the navy blue on you! I believe navy blue is regal, royal, if you watch like movies where there depicting a king or queen or somebody that is rich or royal or regal they always have navy blue on and I believe it’s supposed to signify that it’s royal that it’s regal so I know it’s one of your new colors and I think that it’s dark enough that I feel like you might not get bored with it and go back to your black but I do love the blue on you. Nice update. I did want to let you know that when you mentioned about the pot filler water being cold versus hot that is for a good reason. You are not supposed to ever cook with hot water. According to the CDC and EPA, it's generally not safe to cook with hot water from the tap. Hot water can contain contaminants from the hot water heater, pipes, and boilers, including metals and minerals. Hot water can also dissolve contaminants in pipes faster than cold water, and boiling doesn't remove these contaminants.

What a helpful video for anyone building. I really like the fireplace in the primary bedroom. If you are missing the black element you could always take the black dresser from closet and put in spare room. But the bench gives a nice space for guests. Also I feel like you are the best host ever. You have so many accommodations for your guests. Just so thoughtful with the things you do.

Looks wonderful as always - you do have a flair for design!!! For me the key pro points you did: access to the bath from the outside / pocket doors (we live in South Carolina and the builders are the same way about resistance to doing them - what IS that all about???) / access from your closet to the laundry area (I remember the "battle" over this and I'm glad you stuck to your guns, after all it's YOUR home) / the wood tone cabinetry and doors (adds so much warmth especially if your decor style leans towards monochromatic) / white cabinetry in the kitchen - light bright and airy / tile all the way up in the showers / adding curtains and at that height to your windows (again it gives warmth, privacy at night and brightness during the day) / the attic organization upgrade hits me in the feels as like you I'm the Queen of Organization (labels, labels, labels - c'mon girl that's usually a big deal for you lol) / the mirrors (now) in the guest bath - they look so nice with the cabinetry / when you made over your bedroom with new pieces you shifted the previous ones over into the guestroom (as did we) - it's an economic save and certainly a nice upgrade - every guest comments they love having a king bed / quality mattress / over all aesthetics of the room - very high end hotel like. The "I wish I had done this" - couldn't agree more with the following - even a small dishwasher in your laundry room would be ideal as would the double washer & dryer stacking units / the built-ins for your closet. What I would have done: as we too are the "hosting" house of the family - adding a second full-size dishwasher in the kitchen island (one on either side of the sink) / adding commercial fridge & freezer units in the laundry room / your tub area I would do full height tiling on all three walls in something neutral / media room - we did a full wall of black curtains floor to ceiling and it made a huge difference / a riser for the very back seating area (even 6" has a great impact) I'm so happy for you all - it was a long road to get here but you deserve all the best for both your and Chase's hard work, DIYs whenever possible and sacrifices. May you enjoy it all with God's Blessing, good health and continued happiness.

As long as you love the tile placement, that's really all that matters. Two things I will always have is can lighting and water closets in all of the full bathrooms. In half baths, a wall between the sink and toilet will do. Your home is beautiful! Hard to believe it's been a year since you've lived in it! ❤
