I like this guy's body language illustration of the story, puts you right in the scene.

I was attacked when I was 30 yrs old. I was out walking around the block just 5 minutes from my apt. I noticed there was a yellow pickup that had gone up and down the empty street several times. Using my instinct, I looked behind me and sure enough there was a tall man with his coat pulled up high. He was about a half block away. I didn’t have a gun, so I turned around very slowly and let him face me. He grabbed me in a bear hug, I dropped to my knees and screamed. It just so happened that night, there were some construction workers working late building apts. The man got spooked and ran to the truck that had backed up. The construction workers came to my rescue. I am convinced my guardian angel was on my shoulder.

GREAT video, the OODA loop is too simple and effective not to use in the daily! Tim's concentric circle concept is just as useful and practical when combined with the loop system, just plain efficacy to stay on top and get out of a situation alive.

I would like to see more about what rounds would be more likely to over penetrat at normal self defense ranges. If I'm going to held responsible for where my bullet goes and does, then I would like to know what to expect a caliber to do.

Two Bears Bushcraft There are way too many variables to give a definite answer. Caliber matters, but can be greatly affected by the round you use. That round will behave differently depending what it hits. Lastly, it doesn't matter that round you pick, they all have potentially catastrophic consequences if you miss, and there is no way you can completely eliminate that possibility. 9mm, .40S&W, and .45 ACP are all great options. Get ammunition designed to expand or fragment on impact.

Good points! I learned that focusing on behavior and body language is far more reliable than profiling. Check out my series on situational awareness.

Gas pump example is great because it's pretty common for thieves to roll up on people with their heads in the pump and nab their cell and wallet. Pretty brazen considering your standing maybe 4ft tops from them robbing you with their getaway car a couple feet from them.
