The animation for Corpse Bride was done so buttery smooth and perfect, people kept thinking Burton made it using CG and not stop motion! He did not like this, as he's pretty proud of his stop motion style, so when Frankenweenie was made, he cut back just a bit on the smoothness of his animation to show it really was stop-motion.
@cryingwatercolours18 күн бұрын
omg that’s crazy, and history is repeating itself! many artists right now are adding things, leaving in mistakes, to show their art is human made.
@DanGamingFan240622 күн бұрын
Emily was so selfless, she gave up her "happy ending" so Victoria could live on the rest of her life with someone she loved. I'm convinced Emily realized that Victor was keen on marrying her only because he thought he had lost Victoria- I definitely think Emily was the best choice though- so kind-hearted and funny, she deserved better!
@imisiowolabi272722 күн бұрын
Nah I don’t really agree, though she was done dirty and died a horrible death, Emily was still accidentally married to victor and he had mo right to marry her , I can even starch it and say she was Kind of entitled, but Emily does have character development.
@thepinklittlemermaid279322 күн бұрын
Emily is not selfless AT ALL, she was pushing Victor to that marry and Victor was doing out of pitty. She is the most selfish character
@RueRyuzaki622 күн бұрын
Even If it was accidentally, Victor still said the vows and put his ring on her finger. It's not really her acting selfishy since they ARE married. Emily proved she's not a selfish person by stopping Victor from drinking the poison so he could be with Victoria.
@GoldenAce1722 күн бұрын
I mean I wanted to marry Emily instead when i watched the movie. Considering that was when i was 10... I feel like my parents knew something was wrong with me...
@InfectedEldritchBeing19 күн бұрын
For some reason I thought u said selfish
@OfficialCourtesyCourtie22 күн бұрын
The reason why I say Victoria is my favorite is because I love her character development... In the beginning of the film she's this shy proper little twat. To this woman who breaks out of a window, uses her own blanket to climb out of said window, runs away to the one person she thought she could trust. Straight up gets betrayed. Then that doesn't work she fights with her family. And in the next scene you see her in this woman is still trying to break out of her own room using a metal bar used for the fire place TO REMOVE THE WOODEN PLANKS!!! I seriously love how amazing and reziliant she is.

Fun fact, The story of the corpse bride is actually really old. Ranging from tales from Russia, Jewish stories, and I also believe Germanic stories. The story of a man, (or several men) going into the woods and accidentally marrying a corpse (Either buried or stuffed in a tree), and then some priest or holy person has to undo the union. A promise is made to keep the corpse bride's memory by naming the "husband's" children after her so she may go in peace or a curse is placed because the deal was not met.

Corpse Bride is honest to god one of my favorite movies of all time. I've been watching it since I was a toddler. Between the music, plot, and animation, i absolutely ADORE it. So many chunks of dialogue are permanently engraved in my brain cells, lol. Edit: "Forcibly betrothed to a chin" is fucking amazing, that made me wheeze

@awhitney306320 күн бұрын
I'm sure I'm not the only commentor, but I feel compelled to point out that the 'imagination' of the Corpse Bride of him reciting his vows in the woods etc. is an old folk story, I think from a slavic background. The entire premise of 'man accidentally marries a corpse bride while reciting his vows' is the crux of it, but we went through like five different versions of the story back in my history of Folklore class in college when this movie first came out. I only say it because I agree that it's inventive, but I think it's important to realize that inventive stuff can exist in the past as well and not everything that seems new to us is actually new in reality.

It surprises me to hear that this movie is not that well known in other countries, here in México is one of the most beloved Halloween movies, at least in my generation, aside with Nightmare Before Christmas, it might have to be with the beautiful work of dubbing for these two movies but at last, I'm happy it is starting to get the recognition in deserves.

Corpse Bride is literally one of my FAVOURITE childhood films, it's an AMAZING movie! Laika truly thinks of everything when making their movies! Emily was such a selfless character, giving up everything for Victor and Victoria's happiness as she wants to give someone something she couldn't have - I also love that Emily turns into butterflies because it means rebirth and transformation in certain cultures!

You can like this movie or not, but you cannot deny the work that went into making it. Stop Motion is probably my favourit film-making method ever. It gives the film (and by extension all other stop-motion films) such a unique style and look, that you can't achive with live-action or CGI

4:04 I think the reason why Victoria's mother thought that them being alone together was such an outrage was because I believe back in their time period, wealthy women would have chaperones to prevent their lovers to do stuff (yk) But since they are almost broke, they don't have a chaperone for Victoria, hence why victor asked where Victoria's chaperone was when they first met (I might be wrong but I think this was the reason)

This is my favorite Burton flick of all. Everyone else goes flocking to his prominent _Nightmare_ or even _Batman_ ... which are awesome... but this one is my pick. Right off the bat it's how the differences of the underworld and "up top" are. Down below it's so full of life but above it's all ho-hum but still humorous all around especially when things go haywire. The piano music is amazing. I'd have Victor's solo as a ringtone but something about my phone won't allow it. Older phones would allow anything but I digress. How this went over some peoples' heads perplexes me. I'd expect _Big Eyes_ to take that role, if not _Big Fish_ which neither had much promotion that I know of.

I always liked this one even seeing it 20 years ago. Think I saw it with my dad & it was my first stop-motion movie in a theatre (since I grew up with “Nightmare B4 Christmas” on VHS and such).
