Apple themselves said that right now, Vision Pro is about patience. That is what drove the Mac, iPhone, etc. Recent market share numbers shown that Apple was in 2nd place in terms of MR headset market share in Q1, right next to Meta. Apple at one point didn’t even think they’d sell 150K of these in the first year, they sold double that in 6 months. 6 months since a product’s release is WAY too early to judge the ENTIRE product category’s potential.

I think something that a lot of people might be missing, in my opinion, Apple was not planning on releasing any AI this year. If you look at all the new enhancements to the iPhone, etc., the big changes will be next year. When Open AI, Google and Microsoft released their AI plans this year, I think Apple was pressured to released their AI earlier than they had originally planned.

The hardest part about listening to the episodes and not being to interject and provide your POV. 😭 One of the things I disagree with is that Apple needs to dramatically update their phones every year. People hated when Apple would change the phone every two years (remember the number + S series days). People would spend a large sum only for their phones to be completely outdated (physically) in two years.

@@Natak222 Considering we aren’t at the end of the year so far the Vision Pro could easily hit 400k after expanding into other markets. But even now the Vision Pro is at 60% of the possible production capacity which isn’t bad for a high end first gen product.

My issue with Vision Pro is that my best use case at the moment is watching movies. However, when I go to watch a movie or video, the heat and pressure of the AVP make me tired and I'm falling asleep 30-45 minutes in. Maybe less weight would help, but drawing air in through the light seal instead would help much more. The other quirk that impedes productive work is the eye tracking. When I have a keyboard and trackpad connected, I'd like the ability to turn off eye tracking and interact with it only via keyboard/trackpad and reaching out to tap apps directly. Invariably, I end up back on my iPad or MacBook for productive work. Maybe with VisionOS 2 and the ultra-wide MacBook display, this will change. Other than that, it's a great device.

So is it safe to say if one has an iPhone 15 Pro, I really do not need to worry about upgrading to an iPhone 16 Pro? I too am bothered and annoyed at Apple's recent ways of announcing shit WAY too early, or even just half-baked. I normally get the new phone every year, but with no exciting new color (not counting this rumored titanium brown looking thing LOL), and no real new features other than an extra button (which I still don't see a need for), I feel like now more than ever, upgrading from a 15 Pro would just be completely egregious and a total waste of money. There was a great word used in this episode that has caused Apple so much headache: fragmentation. Apple has fragmented itself so much that it would do itself a favor by introducing the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro series followed by the new SE, then CANCEL everything else! Bye to 15, 14, 13, and old SE. Hear me out: Think of how everyone used to make comments about how fragmented Android was (device types, screen sizes, feature sets, etc.) and now look at the box Apple has put itself in. There are devices with the home button still (current iPhone SE), iPhones with a notch, iPhones with Dynamic Island, iPhones with Capture Buttons, and so many screen sizes. iOS has to work on all of that, and work well. This is why I believe they keep form factors longer now, why the next SE will be as great as it sounds like it is going to be, and why Apple announces certain features early now. They have to test all the variations in beta form, and the longer they can beta test, the longer they have to fix bugs on an iPhone XR that isn't there on a 15 Pro. Simplify lineup, and a lot Apple's problems go away!

You are right, we need to make Apple great again!!! The way to do this is find a replacement for, or even develop a group of people as a replacement for Steve Jobs. Steve created the excitement around Apple, Apple is boring because we are still living with Job’s legacy exactly how he left it. Yes, there are large improvements in hardware, but the Apple excitement is long gone. Tim is a great daily CEO, but Tim is not a visionary. Apple Vision Pro is a truly unique product that allows you to view events from the past as if they are happening now. Or travel to far off destinations while staying at home. Is Vision Pro for everyone? No, because of the price tag. But everyone has people and events they would like to revisit.

I've been thinking about how Tim would do if he ran for president in 2028 (or further).I hope if he does choose to do that, that he thinks it through and makes sure it's what he really wants. I think he's a great candidate but people forget he relies on Apple a lot to be successful. There is a lot he can't do on his own. I've been going back and forth on if he would be qualified. But at the end of the day, I still trust him over our current candidates. If he does that, he will leave quite the legacy. But The People have to want him as president before that happens.
