The only way to activate Apple's new privacy feature (Sign in With Apple) designed to limit app tracking on iPhones, is if you activate Face ID. Users who don't use Face ID on their Xs/Xs Max/Xr devices (or those who have disabled this security feature after using it) won't be able to use their (anonymized) Apple emails to sign into apps, because of the "mandatory" Face ID step. This doesn't make sense at all! Consumers should have full freedom of choice as to how they wish to secure their devices (or other key features on their devices). Apple more or less is forcing consumers to use Face ID to use key features like Apple Pay, etc (and now the app privacy feature to be rolled out in iOS 13). The funny thing is Apple has a 2nd layer for securing Face ID, which is the good ol' passcode (you actually can't access "Face ID & Passcode" in Settings without entering a passcode). So the question is - Why doesn't iOS 13 give us the option of using a passcode to use Sign in With Apple to limit app tracking (and even use Apple Pay, etc)? Apple lacks an indepth understanding of privacy. To them it's a unique selling point (USP), especially that we are in the age of privacy. It's a strategy to be on the good side of history and Congress. But I don't think Apple understands the consumer freedom of choice that comes with privacy. Consumers should have options, don't just push a single solution at them in a " take it or leave it" manner - especially when it involves their biometrics and their faces. It's a matter of principle! Apple doesn't own the right to our faces or biometrics in the name of security (nor health). Regardless of how "secure or encrypted" this data is, Apple or anyone else have no right to what we own; we own our data, heart beat, thumb prints, and facial features. Apple says it believes "privacy is a human right," yet pushes Face ID on you like you have no say in it. This shows severe lack of understanding of consumer privacy on Apple's part. And while we're at it, Apple does not allow you to delete the Health app. iPhones have sensors that will soon be able to detect if women have their periods (in iOS 13 & beyond). You can disable the Health app, but for some odd reason, you cannot uninstall it altogether. Again, a tech company that truly respects consumers privacy would give them the leeway to uninstall the Health app and any native app that retains health & biometrics data.
@juliebarker70255 жыл бұрын
I think you may have this slightly wrong regarding Apples new iOS 13 sign in with Apple. I’ve been reading Apples own press release and it states there that you can use Face ID or Touch ID to activate sign in.
@YaansoonHandcrafted5 жыл бұрын
@@juliebarker7025 There's no Touch ID on the new models Xs, Xs Max , and Xr. You only have one option and that is Face ID. Apple's press releases mention Touch ID to basically say older iPhones can use the security features they already have on them. Their website also says users can choose not to use Face ID, but doesn't say at what expense. Either way, Apple should give owners of new and old iPhones a second option that isn't based on their biometrics to activate Sign in With Apple. This option is passcodes.

Nonsense. Facebook is free, apple products are not. If they even tried to be like facebook, they'd lose their market in a day, they don't get credit for that, especially when they've been busy little censors, manipulating news feeds, gatekeeping based on politics in their closed ecosystem, their echo chamber which will become little more than an orwellian trap.All these companies are in their own way working towards a chinese internet, complete with social credit score, they are not to be defended. The more they build, the more aspects of life they begin to control, whether that be communications or financial transactions, the more dangerous they become as they have proven that they will leverage these powers to push their political bias.
