Interesting to see if any fuel cell updates are made for the rear hydration, seeing as Lucy Charles dropped a bottle trying to refill it in Kona.

I really like it. This is the future of road bikes too... should probably put the front tyre on the right way round though.

Great guy and awesome bike. It is always interesting that so many people need a couple of years to adapt to new looks. I remember how people hated the Cervelo P3 when it came out or the Plasma with the integrated hydration system. Funny.

any videos with Tim Don are appreciated and is the only reason i clicked the video. however, this bike is an eyesore. it's been about a decade since any major design changes to the Shiv and this is what they come up with? it's like someone tried to mate an old steel road bike with the front end of a spaceship. no bento box? Tim doesn't even utilize most of the features of this bike which makes me think Specialized just pushed a new bike before Kona just for show. does it come with tape to keep the hydration lid on? Tim - buy your own Canyon and save yourself the grief - well worth it.

I want to think that this bike is beneficial, but like you I can't see it, i have the 'old' shiv and it is so difficult to make adjustments, this one looks just as bad. If it were worth the money then Tim Don and Lucy Charles would both not be using after market parts on them. I bet they were thinking at the start of 2018 it's time for a quick cash grab... lol

Tim rides a S size of Shiv and he's 1,73m height. Would be an S size be good for me being 1,77m height? I have the chance to buy one in S and I think that it's better a smaller one to fit bette in the cockpit. Any recommendation?

Why the lowered seat stays? Rider compliance and aero?

Slightly less ugly without the water reservoir on the back. But I have to say, nothing on it I like... Apart from the Don himself... legend.

No way that is an 11-25 cassette! Looks like 11-30, count the teeth in one side. Then count how many cogs skip 2 teeth before a closer cluster. That's at least 11-28. I'm impressed that, cadence being such an important thing, he might not know and not notice having an extra gap between cogs in the middle of the block.
@ericoschmitt5 жыл бұрын
@Fraser Cartmell Check again at 7:00, lowest cog skips 3t, then you have 6 times 2t skips and then close ratio. Thats 11-28, so... He doesn't notice.

Yes these $20,000 bikes on a great day give the riders those sub 4:15 splits or faster , but they still have $200 pair of running shoes and not many run under 2:45 let alone 2:40 in Kona , in the sport since 1985 . And when the wind comes back to Kona those would rode 4:16 will again ride 4:26 . Funny thing the pros dont buy them ,nether can 80% of the age groupers

@leon199512095 жыл бұрын
If it is ugly, who cares if it is fast. It is so ugly that no one would actually buy it and ride. A bike is only fast if there is someone actually riding it.

Never mentioned the strange location of the rear seat stay. What advantage does this unconventional frame configuration give you.
@davidspagnolo48705 жыл бұрын
Probably reduces the amount of surface area that's perpendicular to the airflow.
@physicsandfitness5 жыл бұрын
The lowered seat stays are becoming more common on road and tri bikes mainly for two things. First it makes that rear triangle a lot more ridged in the chain stays making power transfer better. Second, it allows the seattube above the seat stays to flex a fair amount more improving comfort considerably.
@SxWerks5 жыл бұрын
This configuration induces stresses in the frame normally not present in a diamond shape. Seems to be a compromise and tries to emulate the Softride frames. The Ventrum One, Lotus 108 or 110, Zipp 2001 all represent no compromise solutions which are much better looking.
