The cymbals are 100% real and the toms are 100% real as well. For both the snare and the kick drum I'm using a blend of both my own recorded samples and the signals from the mics. I think it's about 60% sample and 40% acoustic drums.

How are your thoughts on coated tom heads vs. the clear ones you use more often. Just without mics and a mix.

Nice cover, I'm just wondering if the sabian aa holy china is good? Because I'm think of getting one. Is it good for breakdown stuff?

Sorry, on my tv speakers they sounded super MIDI, haha. But what cymbals, mics, mic placement did you use? They sound REALLY good!

Ofcourse they are real! Thats why they are expensive, because they are unrealistically amazingly sounding.

Tim, you just created the MIDI drums and played along with it, right? Because I know those cymbals aren't real.

Really clean and technically sound cover, but dude, had you not slept for a week when you filmed this?? It was definitely a solid cover and you're a really talented drummer, sincerely, but come on man! Add some life to your performance! That doesn't mean you have to add a fill to every single possible measure or beat the kit to the point of snapping your heads, but "not overplaying" doesn't mean play like a zombie! You're even playing every snare stroke in the chorus as a dead note haha. I was hoping to see a cover from someone who actually FELT this song instead of just trying to make sure it sounded like the recording because it may be laid back from a technical perspective like you said, but even if you watch the music video, you'll see from Paul's performance that he's feeling it, just like in the video for if you could see into my soul. I'm merely saying this from a constructive perspective because I've taught percussion for years and you really are a good drummer :)

Everything sounds good apart from that kick. It sounds like a pellet gun. I know it's the "in" thing but really kick should be the balls that pounds in your chest, you won't get that with this sound. Do you play in a band live?
