Tim and Geoff has basically the same overall range, but Geoff's chest sounding so resonant down to A1 which he has done live, but Tim made up for it by mixing chest+fry which sounded great. But at their lowest, they are the best at their own techniques like Tim's growl and Geoff's subharmonic.

@Niranjan Rajesh you can hit a note using growl and chest, it's how throat singing works. not saying tim did that, just saying it's a thing.
@alebormio48424 жыл бұрын
Niranjan Rajesh I wouldn’t say A1. Counting his two live F1s in Your Man and I want crazy live as growl (they could be chest), and the F#1 in the butts remix as fry (they probably aren’t), his lowest chest note should be G1, shown in Grandma Got Runover by a Reindeer live (which is chest, even after a slide). So G1/F#1 at least. But you can’t say the same with Geoff Castellucci. He’ve clearly gone under A1 and G1 in chest so many times
@matthewdockray97454 жыл бұрын
4:10 is growl. If you listen closely he transitions just before the G#. I can’t see any way the house party Eb1 are chest. He’s not demonstrated any ability to sing below a G1 in chest at the absolute lowest. If they are chest, they’d be heavily chest fry mix with a lot of gain on in post. Think a little less A0 is definitely an A1 at 10:27. Nice job for amending the A-1 :)

@gidster1924 жыл бұрын
Cullen Lee they might be chest fry, but he’s still hitting them for only a split second each. You can reach below your normal lowest chest if it’s for a short moment, so I’m guessing that’s what Tim did, but he’s had multiple recordings of him hitting chest F#1’s and F1’s. They’re from live shows though so that’s why you normally don’t see them in videos like these, plus he hid a chest fry E1 in Can’t Stop The Feeling so I think it’s definitely possible that they’re chest Eb1’s in house party

Try relaxing... alot. It might feel counter intuitive at first. Try extending your neck as if your trying to look over a crowd of people. Slowly slide the pitch down and don't tense up your throat. Keep your larynx down. Ultimate relaxation is the key to a strong bass sound that projects. You wont be able to go as low, but the sound will project further.

Great video (as always). I still don't agree on the chest Eb1. Like the A-1, i think the Eb1 is an edited effectof some sort. And i don't think there is an A0 in sold either, it's actually an A1 and E2 sung together to form a 'manual' subharmonic and become and A0. It's the same effect on the "B0" from Voiceplay's warriors, a B1 and F#2. creating the illusion of a B0.

In this form how I listen to it I would say that Eb1 is chest. I don"t have any close information about this note and even if I boosted those Eb1"s I didn"t hear any air noise or vibrating. @@badamb401 It is possible that "house party" wasn't completely acapella. I don't think the Eb1 was growled or subharmonic or chest because i don't think Tim sung the note. I think it could either be an sub-octave pedal (an effect) on max volume or it wasn't produced with the human voice at all. In voiceplay's older version of "this is halloween" i though that Geoff was chesting the backround C#1's but i was clearly mistaken. And Home free uses the sub-octave effect all the time on their bass.

@dyllpickle88904 жыл бұрын
how exactly did you come to the conclusion that he was singing a C0 when he broke the sound system? a C0 is well below the human hearing threshold (its 16 hz whikle human hearing cuts out at 20hz or an E0) and its not even like he was singing into a mic specifically build to record the frequencies we cant hear. it was just on a phone, so how exactly did you come to the decision it was a C0 and not any other arbitrary un-hearable note, especially sense notes like G0, F0 and E0 are so barely distinguishable on their own?
@badamb4014 жыл бұрын
In this depth I can"t say that I HEAR the note more like I FEEL the note. I had feeling of C in those voice clicks in Tim"s fry. Also depends on kind of sound you hear. Most people are talking about E0, because of soundwaves showed for counting frequency, but if you take for example piano, there is possible to hear lower then E0. If you saw video showing piano with extra keys, there is a guy showing this extra tones where the lowest is C0. And it"s pretty easy to listen to it.
@dyllpickle88904 жыл бұрын
@@badamb401 on the video of the piano i saw with extra keys, the notes became completely indistinguishable past an E0, with a commenter pointing out that you could only hear the carious harmonics of the note because human hearing cuts out by that point. the fry pops are indeed a C but ive yet to see it said that vocal fry pops are an octave higher than the tone underneath. i may have just not seen it anywhere and it would certainly make sense considering vocal frys relation to subharmonics, but ive simlly yet to see it.

@Niranjan Rajesh you just start singing a bass note then make it a little sloppy but make it sound nice. Its hard to explane if your not a bass singer your self.
@musikavatarethan4 жыл бұрын
Niranjan Rajesh hi so what Nicholas is trying to say is that those B1’s are pure chest notes, but Tim has the ability to add a “fry effect” or whatnot on his voice. This is still pure chest, but with a sloppy-some timbre which, for the song, kinda fits perfectly for the feeling (coming from a bass😁)
@musikavatarethan4 жыл бұрын
Niranjan Rajesh you can add a “fry effect” by tightening you vocal cords. just sing a low bass note and after you got that, tighten your vocal cords so you can have that effect going on. that way, it is still a pure chest note, but with a nasty fry effect ;)
