Hi there...Yep...that square brownish thing that goes in the Big Shot machine is a die...and the die cuts the poinsettia! Dies come in all sorts of shapes and sizes...Oh my....the things you can do with them! Best part...they last forever....you could cut poinstettias year after year after year! Thanks so much for the question and have a wonderful night! Stacey!

You bet you can and not just with the clear...Any embossing powder. I double emboss most often when I am using gold or silver because I want it to not have that "orange peel" or "dimpled" look to it! So...if you want a solid, smooth embossing, sometimes you have to double and even triple emboss depending on the look you are going for! Thanks so much for the comments and hope you are warm and dry where you are...out of "Sandy's" way!!! Take care! Stacey

Hey there!!! I know...right....they are so beautiful!!! I thought that the poisettia would be my favorite...but the wreath...oh swoon...the wreath...and then I also LOVE the toy soldier...and when you use the clear embossing on the black parts of his outfit...oh so cute! Have no fear...whatever dies you end up with...they are all must haves...Have a Happy Halloween to you too!!! Stacey

Hi there...On the home page, there is a box that has the logo for the Tim Holtz Christmas Dies...I think it says Alterations and has the Toy Soldier on it. Click that box and it will show you all his now holiday dies. If you are still having trouble...go to the searh box at the top right side of the home page and type in 658264 for the wreath and 658261 for the Poinsettia....Thanks so much and Happy Halloween!!! My understanding is that it would still take two dips in the UTEE to get the "glassy" effect. We opted not to use UTEE and a melting pot since many crafters don't have it in their stash...but most crafters do have clear embossing powders. Thanks so much for the question and have a super day! Stacey

That is so good to know!!! I thought about using UTEE...but then I thought that most already have basic clear embossing powder so...lets use what is already in our craft supplies!!! Hope you are having a wonderful night and thanks for the tip!!! Stacey :)

Hi there...Thanks so much for the question. I would think that any brand will work but keep in mind...not all embossing powders are the same quality. We have tried many and our two top picks are the Zing Clear by American Crafts and the clear by Stamendous. Some may be more "yellowed" after time while others might take more then two coats to get the same look...all you can do is try and see what happens...after all...it is only paper! Good luck and thanks again! Stacey

I mean fabric canvas...not too heavy in weight as canvas can come in several different weights. You could also use canvas "paper"...it is not really paper but the canvas is backed with paper...it is generally sold in 12 x 12 sheets at scrapbooking stores. The regular fabric is easier to find then the 12 x 12 sheets... Hope that helps!!! Stacey :)

Great Stacey...and FYI, even if you emboss with UTEE, you would STILL need more than one coat of powder to get a smooth and glassy finish...so you are RIGHT ON!!! Wonderful job!!

I am wondering if you would get this same results with the melting pot and UT? I do not have the melting pot, so I am just wondering. Thank you for the tut.

When you say canvas, do you mean canvas paper or actual fabric canvas? Inquiring minds want to know. LOL Thank you in advance.
