Two masters playing acoustic archtop. It cannot get better!

How relaxing ! Suprisingly John sticks to his unique way of playing and still remains in the sentimental track of the tune .

Great playing both of you, I have to think of Joe Pass who once solo recorded a record this way, the mic pikking up the sound instead of an amp, very great sound, greetings Vic

Beautiful. As opposed to an ensemble piece, I feel that it is essential to be an active listener with a duet. Well, the truth is, the more actively you listen to all good music the richer the experience, and that definitely springs from an involvement in music itself. With an ensemble piece, you listen to the complete soundscape, that is the artists intent. The active part of this, is to hear all the elements (be aware of), but not to apply focus. Let your brain multi task, or parallel process. In the case of a duet, especially two like instruments, being an active listener to me, means applying focus. The beauty of it is, as you listen, your focus will naturally and seamlessly change from one instrument to the other, and that pattern of changes will not be the same for each listening. Yes a strong lead can draw your focus, and a subtle lead can put you on the fence, but there is much more to it than that. The other great joy that comes from being an active listener, is that you get closer to the performance, the personal input of the musician, not just the output.

It's like listening to an eloquent conversation.. If you don't pay attention you lose track, and won't know what it is about. It's intellectual, but it's also some of the nicest poetry, with some very nice word choices and colors.

I like this one better than the other two I watched them do together, because the guitars seem more respectful of the other's space. The other two videos, they were invading each other's registers and roles. IMHO Also, very classy to play acoustics with a single mic. You HAVE to listen and stay out of the other guy's space.

I’m curious if John’s touch is different on the acoustic then his usual extra light touch with his electric guitar. The tone of both these guitars sound amazing! Always really great playing buy both of you!

John Stowell would be a great guitarist if only he could stretch his fingers over the fretboard...
