I saw a story recently about Blanco Brown growing up in Atlanta, spending summers in the country with his mom and aunty. He mentioned that “Don’t Take The Girl” was one of the first country songs he was turned on to. When I heard our paths were finally gonna cross in Australia, I reached out…and this is how it went…. The verse that talks about the mom faiding brought tears to my eyes. When I gave birth to my last child, a few hrs after he was born, I started hemorrhaging. I was fading fast. My mother and husband kept praying to take my place. 7.5 months later I am still here. Blanco did an amazing job.

The downside is that it helped kill traditional country music. The genre has mixed so much with other genres that it has become something else completely. "Country music" is nothing but a marketing label these days. That's yet another consequence of commercialization. IMO, many country artists seem insecure. The first time I heard this song, my fiance played it for me at home, just sharing songs with each other that we'd never heard before. Before playing this one for me, My fiance didn't tell me what Tim's song was about or even what it was called. He just told me that when his 1st wife was giving birth to his baby girl, they weren't sure his wife would make it. I was already teary at his story then... Tim. Good God, I didn't just cry when I heard this song, I sobbed. My fiance cried as well, reliving it right then and there. But with me. And Tim. I tear up each time I've heard this song ever since, but full flood gates opened just now watching this raw moment with you with Blanco. What a dream come true to sing with you and to hear his story as to why this was so important in HIS life. You inspired his path. Don't hide what your passion of this song. Not only does show you have a heart. It shows everyone that there is a deeper meaning in this song. That you can take away not others can. A good song can do that from any genre any year. Take it from me when I say. I love country music and have been listening to it my whole life. I'm the only one in my family that listens to it. From the beginning of country to the current country music. If I wear to make a playlist of songs that I wanted to share to the world. It would have Country, Pop, Rock, and hip hop. There are songs that make me cry. I let everyone know that. Because when you do others then can relate to the song tell you how the songs makes them feel.

"Don't take the girl " is a song that has always dear to my heart. When was a child my mom used this song as a lullaby for my brother and me. I'm 26 years old now and this song still pulls at my heart strings. I even song it as a lullaby to help other children sleep.

I'm crying 😢 when I was a little girl my dad would play his guitar and sing lots of country songs to me including this one....hurts my heart i dont know if il ever hear my daddy's voice again do to a second stroke he had almost 2 yrs ago that took his ability to speak, eat, use his right arm and hand!
