Jeremy, My name is Paul. I'm 53 turning 54 this year. Happily married, Dad, Grandpa....living the America dream, actually. Six and a half years ago I got diagnosed with tonsil cancer. Didn't even know I still had my tonsils. Quite the shock, actually. I was at an annual physical and my doctor noticed a lump on my neck I somehow didn't see even though I'm always attentive to my appointments. Fast-forward.......I beat it and DO NOT sit around making plans; I DO IT. My wife and I are living our good life spending time with our adult children and our grandchildren on our terms. This song has kicked my ass since the first time I heard it and last year, I started playing drums for the first time in my life. In fact, I've never played an instrument before. I'm actually picking it up thanks to some hand-eye coordination from playing baseball when I was younger. I have to admit outright that I played along to you the very first time I saw your video (mostly....I still suck) but cried throughout; this touched me. I'd never had my own creative stamp to add to a song that impacted me so personally. I'm struggling to learn this incredible instrument but decided that it's so incredibly worth putting in the time at any age. Thank you for sharing.

Strangely enough I had such a similar experience in my mid-twenties…I also noticed a lump in my throat and it was thyroid cancer. I too was blessed with the strength given to me by God, to overcome this battle and I am so thankful to know that this has been your story as well Paul. Playing this song really touched me as was working through it and I am humbled to know that this feeling was shared and experienced by you, my friend. I am so excited that you are loving life and enjoying the beautiful gift that you have been given…your family, not many gifts can exceed that. Something that I have challenged myself with lately is to recognize that everything matters…everything we say or don’t say or everything we do or don’t do. I am so happy to know that you have lived in this way and by doing so you experience the peace and love that a human being is intended to. A little late on finding these, but love your drumming Jeremy. I lost my dad in February so it was hard getting through this one. He lived everyday as if he was dying, and taught me how to live my life in the process, even something as small as complimenting someone on a God gifted talent of drumming. Thank you
